More Ballz for 4* OH Brian Robinson & Other Crootin' Notes
In some pleasant crootin' news, Michigan Football is on the brink of a serious tear on the recruiting front for the 2024 class.
4* DE Brian Robinson (#110 ranked recruit in the 247 composite) from Youngstown, OH has received several Crystal Balls in favor of Michigan today. In addition, Robinson hinted his decision timeline could be expedited if a certain 5* QB may be making a decision soon. This sentiment seems to be the case for several other recruits on the board.
That 5* QB is obviously Jadyn Davis (#24 overall), who is visiting this weekend in what shapes up to be another huge weekend for the staff. If all goes well with meeting new QB coach Kirk Campbell, his recruitment could be wrapping up pretty soon, giving Michigan the crown jewel of the class.
Other top recruits that Michigan seems to be leading for at the moment: 4* RB Taylor Tatum (#39), 4* WR I’Marion Stewart (#301), 4* WR Channing Goodwin (#320), 4* WR Jordan Shipp (#385), 3* WR Mekhai White (#495 visited last weekend), 4* TE Brady Prieskorn (#59), 3* OT Ben Roebuck (#452), 4* OT/OG Blake Frazier (#212), 4* OT Andrew Sprague (#201) and 4* LB Aaron Chiles (#88).
Other recruits that Michigan is either leading/at the top for: 4* RB Jordan Marshall (#83), 4* RB Darrion Dupree (#356), 3* RB Harry Stewart (#494 visiting this weekend), 4* OT Kevin Haywood (#251), 4* OG Max Anderson (#182 visiting this weekend), 4* C Waltclaire Flynn (#155), 4* DE Darien Mayo (#134), 4* LB Jeremiah Beasley (#249) and 4* S Ricardo Jones (#95).
Coming off one of Harbaugh's lower rated classes in 2023, it seems like there is a trend that the staff is content with a long-term project/developmental class every 5 years, surrounded by classes with multiple high-level recruits: (2018: 22nd, 2019: 10th, 2020: 12th, 2021: 13th, 2022: 12th, 2023: 19th). Maybe its just a coincidence, maybe Michigan has started to adapt to the NIL era, or maybe their pitch is resonating with the fact they are a top 5 program in terms of winning on the field and producing NFL players. Either way, there are some serious exciting times on the horizon with under 6 months until kickoff for the 2023 season and the (currently) #5 ranked 2024 recruiting class.
If balls turn into letters of intent, this class is going to be fun
Yes, this is looking like the sort of class that we've been hoping success on the field would start translating into.

With another run at the national championship the 2025 class may be even better.

Enough ballz, time for commits
Go Blue
So is JD the first domino to fall? Good news is good, but nobody committed last weekend
Definitely gets that feeling. Which makes this weekend a pretty big one, which we could look back that propelled into an elite class.
Who cares. The important thing is that vietnam soldiers will be on campus!!!!
Thanks for the awesome update and hope we finish with a top 5 class, and also for all the "extra typing" you had to do!
It seems like we may have better pure recruiters on staff. This is quite the change from last season.
This is all due to Chris Partridge. He’s the greatest recruiter in the history of college football and Michigan will have to turn away guys in the top 50 because they only have room for the top 25, who will all be committing thanks to Chris being on staff. No other staff member even has to try and recruit anymore. Every other staff member was the worst recruiter in history but thanks to Chris, we have been saved.
oh my!!

Edit: lmfao I’ve been had
All weight gain and loss is good. All staff attrition is for the positive.

Welcome back, Chris!
Making the playoffs and beating Ohio State in consecutive years gives credibility and separation from the other numerous 10 win per year teams. That’s the difference.
March 14th, 2023 at 11:06 PM ^
That and figuring out the NIL thing.
How could you not love all this?
You have to figure clink, Bellamy, Partridge and winning would have to jump start our recruiting at some point.
GO BLUE!
Yes because Jay and Moore have no idea how to recruit . Thank goodness they have Chris around to teach them how to recruit. Maybe Chris can continue taking credit for bringing in recruits that Moore did. On second thought, every recruit Michigan has ever gotten is due to Chris being on staff for the few years he was. Guys in the 80s were committing because they knew Chris would eventually coach here. They wanted to make sure they were associated with him.

Jay has been a constant. Moore has been a very good recruiter, but recruiting chops are why those other guys were brought in (aside from coaching.)
March 15th, 2023 at 10:46 AM ^
Dude... Jay is literally the sole reason we had back to back star RBs in Haskins and Corum. Haskins was a fucking nobody 3 star, too. In his initial hello post I figured he was another way-too-tall giraffe like Ty Isaac and would probably end up in the same boat as him.
Jay saw something and we got a generational player out of him. Jay does more with less, that's good crootin'.

MJ14,
Is Chris Partridge actually taking credit for things he didn’t do? Or are you just mad that fans on the internet give him credit for things you are sure he didn’t do?
Who you mad at bro?
Nah Chris isn’t taking credit. Chris is a really good dude. I’ve been irrationally mad lately at people bringing it up. It’s very disrespectful to the other guys who have been here building this program to just automatically have fans start giving Chris credit. But I knew that’s exactly what would happen and here we are. Every recruiting thread posted in the last week has someone mentioning Chris like he had anything to do with these guys. Chris is closing the Chiles deal, but that’s about as far as his relationships go currently.
He’s working on pulling some guys he was recruiting to Ole Miss and building relationships with some current commits over last weekend and this weekend, but these guys are coming in thanks to other staff members who have been busting their ass. Chris will get guys to no doubt, and he’ll help with recruitments of others but most of these names right now have nothing to do with Chris. So yeah I’m a little salty at the fans.
I talk to Hart every once in a while and he’s worked hard to 1) being a better recruiting overall 2) being comfortable going after higher ranked guys with tougher recruiting competition. I’ve even kinda joked with him that Jay made him look bad in that area and now he’s got Tatum and Marshall trending blue and I feel like people will then give credit to CP, who has never even talked to either of those guys. Stuff like that. Like Moore closing on a bunch of dudes and then somehow 247 says it was CP and now all of a sudden it’s like a slap in the face to a guy like Moore who also worked his ass off. That’s all. I shouldn’t let my frustration come out to others here. Should have just kept it to myself. Not mad at CP he’s a good dude and a solid coach.

Offensively it's looking like Weiss being gone is a bonus in recruiting! Hard to believe but wow, he's gone, Kirk takes over as qb coach, Partridge returns and it seems like recruiting is building massive momentum again!
Leading for Jordan Marshall? Really? No snark, legit asking. Thanks.
March 14th, 2023 at 10:04 PM ^
I have seen an extensive interview with Jordan. I believe Michigan is leading. He is a thoughtful, measured young man but he lights up a bit when Michigan is mentioned-and he is good friends with Ted Hammonds...which he goes out of his way to interject. He is exactly the type of player that Michigan values-in every way. Love this kid.

On3’s crystal ball system has us leading for him
March 14th, 2023 at 10:52 PM ^
Staff feels good not great on Marshall. If Tatum joins the class then OSU and a few others will push even harder for Marshall. Real chance Michigan gets both Tatum and Marshall. Don’t be surprised to see a few running backs transfer out if that’s the case. I’ve mentioned a few times that Michigan will lose a rb or two. News circulating about a 3rd running back not stepping up this spring tell me the odds are higher right now for a certain guy to transfer.
I thought you were an FSU alum.
I hope I’m wrong, but I just can’t see UM pulling two high caliber RBs in the same class to commit. Both Marshall and Tatum are great prospects that could start anywhere they decided to go. Though, it would be amazing to see a RB group of Cabana, Tatum and Marshall in that backfield. I would be happy with one of those two guys. Hopefully, those CBs that are coming out will prove me wrong!
March 15th, 2023 at 11:37 AM ^
Didn't Marshall say UM is becoming Running Back U?
Corum/Edwards had 2700 combined yards and Corum/Haskins had 2500 combined yards the year before.
Tell a back he'll get 1200 yards, Heisman consideration, enough NIL not to turn pro and you'll be spitting carries so you can preserve your body for the next level. Wouldn't that pique his interest?
It Penn State got 2 top 100 backs and their Oline has more holes than a hobo's coat, why can't we?
Our 2 back system, running behind a perennial Joe Moore contending Oline, surely has to be pretty appealing to both guys?
Keep winning the way we are and this entire program can take the next step.
This class has potential to be a great one and classes like that should be the norm.
March 14th, 2023 at 10:03 PM ^
The list of guys we have led for early in the process is long and distinguished..like my…well you know the rest.
Need Davis and some commit momentum soon to capitalize on it.
Would be nice to avoid the explanations from Sam Webb of how we are not technically out of it yet for most of these guys in a few months time. Not trying to be cynical - think staff can do it and is setting themselves up well. Just been a frustrating couple years of missing on high end guys. Gotta convert the winning to a killer class this year, NIL be damned.

I think Harbaugh has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.
I see what you did there, Brady.

The flood of great recruiting news continues. I think we all know the reason football recruiting has finally turned a corner just around this particular time.
Winning College Football Risk has clearly made a colossal impact on the hearts and minds of elite athletes, just as we expected. Winning cures all.

2024 class has like two commits so referring to it as the #5 class is funny. With all the success we’ve had and the last couple classes not reflecting that success I hope we finish 5th or better
March 14th, 2023 at 11:22 PM ^
Well my friend they currently have 7 commits (4 in the top 300, last year had 7 in the entire class) and referring to them as the #5 class because that’s… what they currently are on 247 Sports. Look I get it’s very early, but locking up a 5* QB to lead the 2024 cycle gives them a pretty good shot to maintain that ranking.

42-27
45-23
Bo, I’m not sure what you’re getting at.
When I add up the “second” number from the two sets you posted, I only get “half a hundred”… that’s much lower than what was stated from Third Base a few years ago.
This year it'll be 43-25 or 47-22. Count on it!
