Support Michigan NIL!!! - Here's your chance to help get Corum and others back
Lots of people like to complain about Michigan's NIL efforts...but the money doesn't just come from nowhere. Here's your chance to donate, with all proceeds going to four key players that may come back instead of declaring for the draft. Imagine if all Michigan fans gave $10 or if the 110k that go to games every now and then gave $50. Here's your chance to be part of the cannon. Note, I have absolutely no affiliation to the collective at all. I just think talk is pretty cheap...so time for action.

Do your part...or if you don't, at least don't complain about it anymore.

What happens to the money if they don't come back?
January 8th, 2023 at 2:32 PM ^
It gets shared amongst returning players. It isn't clear if that means it gets shared amongst these four, or the entire team.
January 8th, 2023 at 3:33 PM ^
Seems like this motivates star players to just get their teammates paid… actually makes me think there is less of a chance of them staying.

A free four year degree from a top 5 public institution and all the other benefits bestowed upon them is a gift beyond measure. If they are good enough, businesses in and around Ann Arbor will support them through NIL. They don't need my money. I'd rather give my money to kids that actually need money to go to school, not kids who already have a free ride and now want a Lambo.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:38 PM ^
I think you're actually allowed to do both!
January 8th, 2023 at 5:15 PM ^
I’m good with only doing one. I contribute to a local scholarship fund for kids that need money to go to school. I doubt my absence in NIL contribution will make an impact. LOL
January 8th, 2023 at 6:57 PM ^
Ok then don’t contribute lol
January 8th, 2023 at 7:21 PM ^
I won’t lol
January 8th, 2023 at 8:00 PM ^
Yeah I don't know how I feel about this. Perhaps this is what separates the SEC from the B1G, but the idea of simply donating money to star players doesn't sit well with me. Don't get me wrong; the old NCAA regime that prohibited players but not their schools from engaging in commerce was bullshit. But a better system than simply soliciting fan donations for NIL projects would be to line up sponsorships and endorsement deals from private businesses whereby the players engage in, you know, actual commerce (as opposed to getting a handout).
January 8th, 2023 at 8:07 PM ^
It’s not a gift and it can be measured. Ask the AD and conference officials what revenue is generated by their efforts.
January 8th, 2023 at 2:33 PM ^
We also need the coach to come back.
January 8th, 2023 at 5:07 PM ^
We're gonna need a bigger NIL boat.
January 8th, 2023 at 8:05 PM ^
We're gonna need more than that. We're gonna need Michigan to join the NFC North.
January 8th, 2023 at 2:35 PM ^
“Those Who Stay Will Be Paid” haha
January 8th, 2023 at 3:40 PM ^
Sad, but true. I prefer the original.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:27 PM ^
Yep, keep snubbing your holier than thou nose at NIL as our program continues to fall behind on recruiting, alienates coaches who want to win, and starts suffering the losses. Good old Michigan institutional arrogance.

I mean as long as you’re fine with getting rid of all money in college football/sports, I’m fine with this take. The reality is that college football is a huge, huge business and the value that the players generate far exceeds the benefits of the value of their college degree both in the near and long term, especially for the star players. As long as that’s the case, why should they not a piece of the pie? If you’re saying let’s get amateur coaches, crater the stadium, no more athletic scholarships, same academic standards across the board, no multi-billion dollar TV contracts, then I think that’s fine. Basically, make it a club sport. No need to pay players if that’s the case or allow them to get paid. But you of course don’t want that. You want to continue the charade of a multi-billion dollar NFL and NBA farm system being amateur while patting yourself on the back.

Congratulations. You’ve literally just summed up any person that has ever held a job anywhere.

And do we fault people who ask for raises from their bosses? Who leave companies for better pay, better culture, better benefits, a promotion, etc.? No, not in general. I'm obviously not saying it has to balance out, but I don't get the knock on players getting a small piece of it.
How many times have we had a player leave early because the temptation of an NFL contract? This helps keep them here. It's reality.
January 8th, 2023 at 2:36 PM ^
I believe the deadline for declaring for the draft is January 16. The clock is ticking.
January 8th, 2023 at 2:36 PM ^
Why don't we just put all the links to NIL sites on a post that is stickied to the top? It seems a little more important IMO than keeping the 2021 OSU game thread up there forever or the "End of OT season" post.
January 8th, 2023 at 2:45 PM ^
I still go back to the 2021 OSU game thread occasionally. I never want to forget how I felt that day.
January 8th, 2023 at 3:56 PM ^
Idk still feel weird about the collectives, like there's a middleman. Can't we just send money to the players? Corum can make a gofundme name his number to come back and if we meet it he stays?
January 8th, 2023 at 7:44 PM ^
Isn’t one of the wanglers running the collective? I feel pretty fine about that.
January 8th, 2023 at 5:10 PM ^
keeping the 2021 OSU game thread up there forever
This must happen. If we had MGoBlog in 1969 and 1997, those games would be there too.
January 8th, 2023 at 2:39 PM ^
Corum is back. His knee won’t be ready for NFL workouts
January 8th, 2023 at 3:03 PM ^
Hmmm….are you privy to some information that the rest of us aren’t? Because that sounds wrong.
January 8th, 2023 at 3:29 PM ^
Buddy I got all the info on Corum’s injury, what happened OSU week within his own camp, who did his surgery, and what his NIL offer is before it was ever made public he was getting one. His knee won’t be ready for combine. You’ll see
January 8th, 2023 at 3:48 PM ^
Maybe share a bit more info with the rest of us in the peanut gallery. I’d love to hear it.
January 8th, 2023 at 6:58 PM ^
Let’s have it then. Can you send me digital images of his MRI too?
January 9th, 2023 at 2:28 AM ^
If he had a miniscus repair and not s meniscus trim that's as 4-8 week recovery. He might actually know what he's talking about. We'll see.
January 9th, 2023 at 2:08 PM ^
Guess I knew!!!
OSU week alls I will say is Corum’s camp is not very smart and Michigan Dr’s are
January 8th, 2023 at 2:46 PM ^
Regardless of what these players decide...
January 8th, 2023 at 2:48 PM ^
Wait, there isn't a magic money tree in Ann Arbor, of all places, to help keep them from going pro?
January 8th, 2023 at 2:56 PM ^
You are thinking of the wrong type of tree
January 8th, 2023 at 3:08 PM ^
Avatar checks out.
January 8th, 2023 at 3:00 PM ^
Done
January 8th, 2023 at 3:03 PM ^
CJ is going to rake it in if his teammates decide to go pro
January 8th, 2023 at 8:50 PM ^
It's not that much if you divide it by how many 50+ yard touchdown scores he had in the OSU game....
January 8th, 2023 at 3:03 PM ^
Trevor Keegan, Zak Zinter, Cornelius Johnson, and Blake Corum since OP wanted to mention there were 4 players but didn't want to say who they were.
January 8th, 2023 at 7:43 PM ^
Thank you. Took like 30 posts.
January 9th, 2023 at 6:55 AM ^
If those four return for another year this will be the best Michigan offense in its modern history-by a fairly wide margin...and thusly, their best team because that defense is going to very good too.
January 8th, 2023 at 3:03 PM ^
I said this in another thread that I have this on good authority that Corum is coming back. I don't know if this Harbaugh fiasco will have any impact on this, but I do know that some donor/NIL money is keeping Corum here.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:29 PM ^
Let's not take any chances.
I just donated $100.
2023 is the year. LET'S DO THIS!
January 8th, 2023 at 8:49 PM ^
I’m honestly a little surprised. He could probably get money close to his first year rookie deal through NIL, but you’re just delaying getting your second contract where you can get good/real money. Even more risky considering his position, how UM used him, and his ankle and knee issues. I wonder if he feels or has heard about how the team plans to lessen the workload given Edwards’ emergence?
January 9th, 2023 at 8:12 AM ^
What’s the probability a 5 9 Rb gets A big 2nd contract? Probably fairly low, imo.
January 8th, 2023 at 3:07 PM ^
I believe them when they say 100% of the proceeds go to the players, however I hope they post the running total money received and then a breakdown of who gets paid what, and finally a picture or video of each player receiving the money promised. In other words...provide full transparency.
January 8th, 2023 at 3:31 PM ^
You can see the running total of what has been raised so far at least.
