Hendon Hooker torn ACL
The guy gave so much this year. What a tough loss for him.

Joe Milton, come on down!
November 20th, 2022 at 5:18 PM ^
I feel for him. I'm awaiting a call from the U of M Trauma Orthopaedic team as we speak. I have a fully torn ACL, and a fracture in my tibia that has caused a pool of blood inside the bone.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:20 PM ^
That's awful. Hope everything goes smoothly!
November 20th, 2022 at 5:23 PM ^
Thanks man. It really is putting a damper on my plans to walk on to the team next year. I mean 42 year old, out of shape guys that have never played organized football make it all the time. A few have won Heisman Trophies. But this is the setback that will derail my dreams.
November 20th, 2022 at 10:12 PM ^
All I'm hearing is 4 years of eligibility left.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:23 PM ^
Who’s your surgeon? Dr Hake?
November 20th, 2022 at 5:26 PM ^
Dunno yet. I originally went to St. Joe's and saw Dr. Scheuller. He was a POS, and I wanted a second opinion. He told me I was old and not an athlete and probably couldn't handle the physical Therapy after the surgery. So I got a referral to U of M and called MedSport. But because of the fracture, I need to see the trauma surgeons, which are still reviewing my case.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:36 PM ^
Wtf? You can’t handle the rehab? So, what should you do then, according to Sheuller?
November 20th, 2022 at 5:37 PM ^
Fucking die, apparently. Hence me not going back to him lol
EDIT: I've already rehabbed a sub-talor dislocation that hurt a tremendous amount more than this.
November 21st, 2022 at 5:00 AM ^
Gee whiz, why would you leave a doctor with such an upbeat bedside manner? (Insert sarcastic eye-rolling gif here.)
Best wishes that everything goes well. Attack that rehab with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.

I had an oral surgeon tell me if something happened to the nerve that ran under one of the teeth he was going to remove, I would lose all function on that side of my face. Then he said, “well you knew it wasn’t going to be pretty”.
November 20th, 2022 at 6:54 PM ^
Peg leg. Pirates are very 90s and that’s cool again.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:38 PM ^
If you can, request Hake. He’s awesome! He operates at both UofM and St Joes. He’s one of the best trauma guys in the area.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:39 PM ^
Thank you so much for the info. I definitely will!
November 20th, 2022 at 7:25 PM ^
How the heck does that happen? Pool of blood in the bone? Or do I not want to know?
November 20th, 2022 at 7:43 PM ^
As best as I can figure, the injury itself would have caused either injury. I decided to do both!
November 20th, 2022 at 9:13 PM ^
This is Dr. Sheuller, thank you for the recommendation. POS = Perfect Orthopedic Surgeon.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:39 PM ^
Ugh. We would have been good with a “soft tissue injury.”
November 20th, 2022 at 5:45 PM ^
Very sorry to hear that. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
November 20th, 2022 at 6:10 PM ^
Thanks! It happened in mid September and I'm just waiting for help.
November 20th, 2022 at 7:02 PM ^
Do you have the same name on FIFA?
November 20th, 2022 at 7:43 PM ^
I do, tho I haven't played in a while.
November 20th, 2022 at 10:24 PM ^
Wish you the best. But before you go calling him a POS by name at least see what the 2nd opinion Dr at U of M says. Geez kind of an asshole move if you ask me.
November 20th, 2022 at 10:34 PM ^
I was speaking to his bedside manner, not his prognosis. He originally questioned my use of crutches, basically saying I was babying it. This was pre-MRI. After the MRI, he admonished me for putting any weight on it.
He also was a doctor for my wifes' coworker. She had similar complaints.
He also didn't believe me when I told him how I injured myself. I slipped on spilled water in my kitchen, and then stepped wrong in my yard. It's not like I told him I saved a fire from a bunch of orphans.

I remember once hearing a veteran nurse describe a surgeon this way: "If he wasn't an asshole he wouldn't have any personality at all."
Not that all surgeons fit that description. (The guy who yoinked my hot appendix almost 20 years ago was a prince.) Just sounds like you got the personality-deficient type.
November 21st, 2022 at 12:20 AM ^
Is that you Dr. Sheuller?
November 21st, 2022 at 10:52 PM ^
Was it the direct result of a Yak attack? I want to know if the username checks out.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:18 PM ^
Horrible way to end an amazing year for him. Hope he recovers fully.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:26 PM ^
58 TDs, and only 5 INTs in the last 2 years. Incredible.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:19 PM ^
Ouch. Looks like he changed his mind on the pitch at the last second and tried to cut while in an awkward position. Tough break for the kid.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:23 PM ^
Damn. Non contact injury. What a great season he had. Hope he comes back strong next year. Good luck to the kid.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:35 PM ^
On the broadcast, they said something along the lines of 70% of major knee injuries were non-contact. Can’t remember the exact verbiage they used
November 20th, 2022 at 7:28 PM ^
That’s how I tore mine - cleat stuck in the turf while the rest of me turned. The knee was the weak point.
November 20th, 2022 at 8:35 PM ^
same here. Two ACLs on same knee. I am honestly surprised at how much turf remains in use, that stuff is horrible for knees.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:43 PM ^
As a former sufferer of a torn ACL I have become very good at spotting them as they happen. If the knee goes inward from the side its basically a done deal. Suspected it right away. I can’t stand Tennessee (historically) but really enjoyed watching Hooker play. Such a shame for him.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:34 PM ^
That’s terrible news and I felt genuinely bad for him and his team when he went down. Of course, we had a remarkably similar scare earlier the same day.
Reminds me just a bit of when Dennis Dixon tore his knee up, except that Oregon team hadn’t already lost a chance to win the title.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:37 PM ^
heartbreaking.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:44 PM ^
That sucks. Hope he heals up quick
November 20th, 2022 at 5:45 PM ^
Sorry to hear this. Hope he makes a full recovery. Pretty sure that puts him out of the Heisman race.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:46 PM ^
Watched that game and saw that happen live. Really a shame. The game was really already over at that point—South Carolina really put it together last night and destroyed Tennessee. Hopefully Hooker recovers quickly, and Milton can make the most of the opportunity. Oh, and I hope South Carolina can play like that again next Saturday at Clemson. Wow.
November 20th, 2022 at 6:33 PM ^
Unfortunately, that game is on at the same time as Michigan.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:50 PM ^
I'm definitely not alone here but I can't ever bring myself to be anything but very sad about players getting hurt. I don't care if it were OSU's best player a week before The Game or a guy on a team I just generally don't like in Tennessee. It's so fn sad when you know what kind of work they put in.
I saw so many OSU fans laughing about Corum yesterday and it made me sick. To be fair, also many that seemed sincerely upset. Again, I think all fanbases have a 10% psycho-freak factor so let's chalk it up to that.
Anyway, I dislike Tennessee in general but this is awful for him as he will probably lose another year as a rookie on top of stock falling a bit. Seeing as he's already older (25, iirc) that's very unfortunate.
Hope he heals up earlier than most and is good to go as a rookie in The NFL.
November 20th, 2022 at 6:50 PM ^
Perfectly said. I really wanted to see Tennessee crumble this season, but not like this.
November 20th, 2022 at 5:53 PM ^
He was a boss this season. Too bad
November 20th, 2022 at 5:56 PM ^
That sucks. By all accounts, he seems like a great kid, so you hate to see his season end that way.
November 20th, 2022 at 6:00 PM ^
Hopefully Milton has a strong finale and bowl game which probably will be a NY6 and that should give him enough to come back for his Covid year as the starter
November 20th, 2022 at 6:12 PM ^
Poor kid. Terrible news.
November 20th, 2022 at 6:27 PM ^
Hope he recovers quickly and gets his shot in the NFL. True baller
