Another 9-3 season for HARBAUGH. A standard of excellence.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:37 PM ^
You're an idiot
September 24th, 2022 at 4:13 PM ^
C'mon. That's not cool. He's a fucking idiot.
September 24th, 2022 at 5:08 PM ^
Pretty sure he doesn’t fuck.
September 24th, 2022 at 9:37 PM ^
Well, technically, Harbaugh is less than a 75% coach at Michigan. After his first 7 seasons he was averaging 8.61 wins and 3.39 losses per 12 games. So 9-3 isn't an unreasonable expectation.
September 24th, 2022 at 11:58 PM ^
Toss out the bullshit Covid year and he's .759 at Michigan (63-20).
September 24th, 2022 at 5:29 PM ^
you must be a very Tuff internet person

We beat Rutgers 20-13 last season, needing a late interception to seal the deal.
It also took some late game heroics to win @Nebraska.
Football can be fickle like that.
Spare us the histrionics.
September 25th, 2022 at 12:43 PM ^
Wasn’t it a fumble recovery against Rutgers? Not like it matters much, but pretty sure it was a QB fumble on a sack.
One thing I thought of while re-watching earlier this morning… I’m wondering if the benching of Stokes after the fumble was the right call, especially if Edwards is going to be out another week or more.
Like after a kid who gets in a car accident, best thing to do is get right back behind the wheel, I think a case can be made that he should have got another carry.
Hopefully it’s a moot point, and Corum and a healthy Edwards handle all the meaningful carries the rest of the season.

Another 9-3 season for HARBAUGH. A standard of excellence.

The rare time you enjoy a double post because it means double the negs.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:43 PM ^
I was going to let the first one slide... doubling down gets you my neg.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
This is going to be the longest snowflake thread of the bunch.
Coaching was ass.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
Glad we won. HiGHLY disappointing effort all the way around. Go Blue and let’s fix this malaise headed to Iowa!
September 24th, 2022 at 3:32 PM ^
Malaise and blue.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:36 PM ^
You, sir, made me smile. Can't buy you a drink, so have my upvotes instead.
September 24th, 2022 at 4:30 PM ^
At least it's not malaise and blues.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:32 PM ^
All I know is if we get punched in the mouth and Harbaugh's reaction is to just run Corum 6 plays in a row...we lose against that Iowa defense. We must ride JJ to win...though this does not have to be through over the shoulder bombs but letting him zip it to crossing routes and having him roll out to run or pass.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:34 PM ^
I don't know about riding JJ, but at least be more balanced. That first drive of the 2nd half was definitely a wet fart.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
just run Corum 6 plays in a row.
Some of this was on JJ. A lot of those were not straight handoffs, JJ could have kept it. I don't think he did all second half, even though he had a big lane a couple times.
September 24th, 2022 at 4:15 PM ^
Even a planned QB draw would've gone for a decent chunk.
September 24th, 2022 at 5:11 PM ^
Weird how that happens regardless of who the starting QB is.
September 25th, 2022 at 2:03 AM ^
Yall are weird.
1) JJ missed a lot of deep throws, if hits a few of these the offense scores 50 and this game looks completely different.
2) JJ was CLEARLY told not to run except for a stint late in the first qrtr when MD had the lead.
3) That's it, there's no big mystery here other than that JH didn't feel the need to break JJ against a team they were beating.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:45 PM ^
not sure about JJ underpressure
September 24th, 2022 at 6:34 PM ^
As long as JJ doesn't channel his inner Shea with all the arm punts, we'll be good to go.
This is what you get when you schedule the ESPN bottom 10 for OOC. Maryland is a good team and well coached. It was good that Michigan got punched in the mouth today and still overcame it.
September 24th, 2022 at 9:40 PM ^
JJ's play against Maryland might result in 5 TO's against Iowa's defense.
September 25th, 2022 at 12:29 AM ^
Well put. McCarthy will have to make some plays and the coaching staff can't get conservative or get scared of Iowa's defense. That's what Iowa wants you to do. That's Kirkball. They'll gladly let you get in your own way and then capitalize on your mistakes if/when you self-sabotage.
I was potentially worried about this in the B1G championship game last year because they had been finding ways to win (thank god that wasn't a factor but that game was actually kind of tight at half despite M's big plays). If they don't move the ball and put up points that opens the door for Iowa's defense or special teams to make a play that could change the face of the game.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:32 PM ^
Horrible, disjointed play-calling up until the last TD drive (second to last TD).
Matt Weiss isn’t much of a recruiter; he’s supposed to be more an X and O guy.
So FFS, be a good X and O guy!
September 24th, 2022 at 3:37 PM ^
Play calling was absolute CHIT!!
September 24th, 2022 at 3:38 PM ^
Weis is terrible. Dude sucks at recruiting (Dante Moore said as such); tried to get Harbaugh to go to the Vikings thus killing recruiting momentum and can’t even call plays. What’s he good for?
September 24th, 2022 at 10:12 PM ^
Dante Moore said he didn't stay up playing video games with him.
What a shitty excuse of all the reasons you could've used.
Meanwhile, Davis loves Weiss and his knowledge and couldn't give a shit about video games.
But that part doesn't fit your narrative.
September 25th, 2022 at 8:10 AM ^
Yeah. Unnecessary piling on Weiss. If plays don't work, then it is always coaches fault. If plays work, then the players did amazing. Comments here are absolutely sure the reasons why QB did not run, play calling is awful etc. They forget that this is the first game against a decent defense. A chance to pile on is all that is needed..
September 25th, 2022 at 12:47 PM ^
If Davis loves Weiss, then that’s obviously good for UM.
Watching the game again without the emotion, the play-calling was, in fact, disjointed at times, but it wasn’t the overly conservative game that most were complaining about yesterday.
Just looking at Gattis at Miami, a week after his offense doesn’t get a TD at TAMU, his projected 1st round QB gets benched in the second half against Middle Tennessee State.
A lot of speculation that Weiss’ fingerprints were increasingly on the offense last year as the season progressed makes me wonder if it’s not best moving forward to give him the primary play-calling responsibilities. Gattis and Locksley were co-OC at Alabama, but Locksley called the plays. Gattis made recommendations. Maybe that’s what the Moore-Weiss relationship should be too.
That second to last TD drive was everything we as fans want from the offense and resembled what we saw when the offense was at its best last year. I’d be stunned to hear that was more Moore than Weiss.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:32 PM ^
That was a shitshow to end it. How do you not play coverage, make the backup QB beat you downfield and stay disciplined?
Instead they wanted to pad sack stats by blitzing and going man coverage. A slow back up QB runs for 23 yards and even in touch football he would have made it.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:33 PM ^
We may win out before OSU at this point, but if the play calling is the same next week we may also lose to Iowa. It's baffling how bad our offensive play calling is every year. even with this talent.
September 25th, 2022 at 2:16 PM ^
How about some option plays or the end around. Plays through the center of the line tend to get stufferd.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:33 PM ^
Need to have an offensive coordinator competition.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:35 PM ^
Agreed. Just let Weiss call the plays and let Sherrone do a bit more of OL coaching.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:33 PM ^
Our coaches decided to run the 4 minute end-the-game offense, to start the second half, up 3 points, against a potent and viable offense, and continued doing so for multiple drives. I'm not concerned by mistakes players make, the paid professionals putting these players in bad positions, and calling low percentage plays is somewhat alarming, however.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:34 PM ^
The 3rd and 4 run with Gash was maybe the single worst call I’ve ever seen. The not calling a TO prior to Maryland’s last TD was top 5!
The team is better than the coaches!
September 24th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
Honorable Mention - Ronnie Bell jet sweep pass option when ball was moving forward on most plays.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:49 PM ^
Blake Corum was spinning gold out of horseshit all day long. He single-handedly won this game for us. It’s a loss without him
September 24th, 2022 at 8:26 PM ^
that’s kinda the whole fucking point. get great players and put them in position to win you games. funny how that works.
September 24th, 2022 at 5:10 PM ^
Weiss deserved to lose an S for that one
September 24th, 2022 at 3:34 PM ^
Coaches better do some soul searching this week because Corum right and Corum left isn’t going to work well against Iowa. We got 21 points today off a 10 yard drive and two colossal run-gap defensive busts. I highly doubt things go that way with Iowa.
But…they won. Learn and grow.
September 24th, 2022 at 3:37 PM ^
It worked today
September 24th, 2022 at 5:57 PM ^
Harbaugh is the reason. He has had an unimaginative offense since he arrived. Just what he prefers and believes in. He's not going to change this late in life/Michigan tenure. The one huge exception to this was the brilliant offensive game plan against OSU last year.
September 24th, 2022 at 6:05 PM ^
The offense with Fisch as OC worked well in Harbaugh's first couple of years as UM head coach.
As for last year, the Iowa offensive game plan wasn't bad.
September 24th, 2022 at 6:37 PM ^
Maryland's defense has consistently been horrible, and somehow our team couldn't convert more than a few downfield passes on that. That's dreadful. You could tell JJ didn't know what he was seeing. Totally ill-prepared.
September 25th, 2022 at 11:57 AM ^
Unimaginative offense... huh. I disagree. We'll leave it there for today.
