Chicago Bears have spoken with Harbaugh
Just about which pizza place in town is his favorite, I'm sure.

He gone (am I doing this right?)
Personally, I'm partial to Lou Malnati's.
January 19th, 2022 at 10:47 AM ^
My sister’s family lives in Chicago, and, being unfamiliar with that particular pizzeria, when they would rant and rave about it, I came away thinking it was called “Illuminati’s” for way longer than I should have haha.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:10 AM ^
"illuminati's" would be a great name for a pizzeria. you need a password to get in, but once you're in, you're really in.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:46 AM ^
I disagree, I think it would be a dangerous name. I mean, a place with the completely innocuous name of Comet Pizza was thought to be hiding dangerous shit in it's non-existent basement and thus attacked by a crazy person - Imagine what folks would do to a place called Illuminati's Pizza.
January 19th, 2022 at 3:02 PM ^
Got that right
January 19th, 2022 at 9:07 PM ^
Then we should keep it on the Qt.
January 21st, 2022 at 5:47 AM ^
I know this isn't exactly consistent with the treatment of Comet Pizza, but it turns out they would nominate it for president, and then it would bafflingly win.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:55 AM ^
You could have a Bilderberg Special - Pepperoni and Adrenochrome
If I never post again you know what happened.
January 19th, 2022 at 3:26 PM ^
I like the pizza and I'm not suicidal!
January 19th, 2022 at 6:18 PM ^
stay away from the Bohemian Grove as well.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:12 AM ^
Same! It wasn't until I had the menu in my hand while sat on my ass in the restaurant did I realize that was not the name of that place.
TBF, Illuminati's is a WAY better name.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:18 AM ^
Ah - too be FAIAHH...
January 19th, 2022 at 11:21 AM ^
Same here....
January 19th, 2022 at 11:37 AM ^
I can't wait to steal the potential joke next time I'm in Chicago and sis says, "We're getting pizza from Lou Malnati's."
January 19th, 2022 at 12:24 PM ^
For a few laughs on this subject, check you tube to look for a John Stewart bit that he did on his daily show a number of years back. You’re welcome. If you are a strong supporter of Chicago deep dish pizza, maybe don’t watch this.
January 19th, 2022 at 12:35 PM ^
I love deep dish pizza, but it's a casserole. It's not really pizza. It is the only good casserole, so it has that win going for it.
January 19th, 2022 at 1:25 PM ^
i make a mean mac and cheese casserole. no homo.
January 19th, 2022 at 7:07 PM ^
Lol my Mom calls it Illuminati’s and it cracks me up every time. :)
January 19th, 2022 at 10:53 AM ^
Pequods is the best IMO
January 19th, 2022 at 11:10 AM ^
Second this.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:32 AM ^
That's a fact. Still not as good as Buddy's though!
January 19th, 2022 at 12:40 PM ^
My dad (and mom) went to UofDetroit and he swears by Buddys. I believe the original one by dad went to is still by campus. Its damn good pizza!
January 19th, 2022 at 11:36 AM ^
100%. Then Vito and Nicks. Lou's is good but there are much better one-offs.
January 19th, 2022 at 1:26 PM ^
My mom grew up a block-ish from Vito & Nick’s! Got it every time we went to my grandparents’ house. Still my all-time favorite pizza.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:49 AM ^
Yes absolutely.
and user name checks out
January 19th, 2022 at 11:56 AM ^
UR a wise man.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:59 AM ^
Lori, is that you?
January 19th, 2022 at 12:58 PM ^
i've been disappointed with the quality the last couple times i went. it used to be my favorite. their crust still is though.
January 19th, 2022 at 1:20 PM ^
Respectfully, Pequod's is the most overrated pizza in the city. I've never had a consistent pizza there. When it's on it can beat most others, but I've had more bad (undercooked, sloppy) than good from there. The pandemic kept them busy but in the last couple years it has fallen way, way off.
January 22nd, 2022 at 11:38 AM ^
Agree 100%.
Though I'm a terrible judge because I like Gio's much more than Lou's or Pequod's or Gino East.
Gio's, at least the one on Belmont and like Racine (don't think it's actually Racine)...is consistent. Never watery, good toppings, fresh. That's my go-to.
That said, I eat pizza 1x week and almost never go deep dish anymore. Really only when family is in town. Chicago has too many other great pizza places.
January 19th, 2022 at 1:44 PM ^
This is the correct response.
January 19th, 2022 at 7:30 PM ^
Agreed. My friends love it but I’m not a fan.
January 19th, 2022 at 3:29 PM ^
Pequods is my family favorite deep dish. Live 3 blocks from it.
but beggars is the best flat pizza
January 19th, 2022 at 4:34 PM ^
Ok. All this pizza talk. I'm trying Beggars tonight. I'll report back.
January 19th, 2022 at 6:16 PM ^
I look forward to your report.
January 20th, 2022 at 8:02 AM ^
Reporting back.
Pizza was really good. We had a thin crust with sausage and it was a hit. When they say they lay it on thick, they weren’t lying!
I have some left overs, so I’m curious how well the pizza will hold up. Which by the way, Pequods is horrible left over pizza. For some reason it loses its integrity really quickly.
January 19th, 2022 at 10:59 AM ^
Not a fan (don't like the crust). I prefer Pizzeria Uno or even Giordano's. Nothing compares to a late night slice of spinach deep dish from Chicago's Pizza on the way home from a night out though.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:01 AM ^
I'm not at all a fan of Chicago-style deep-dish pizza.
Ambivalent about Buddy's/Detroit-style.
Much prefer thin-crust, NYC style. Favorite in Detroit area is Supino's. Joe's in Ann Arbor is also very good.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:14 AM ^
NYC style is damn good too! What I find funny, is the best NYC style pizza I’ve had have all been OUTSIDE NYC.
I’ve had countless slices in NYC, and 100% of the time each slice has been sitting on that dilapidated metal tray for lord knows how long. Then when I order they throw it in the oven for a few mins to try to resurrect it like the bride of Frankenstein. It’s noticeably not fresh at that point. Can still be tasty though.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:32 AM ^
NY thin crust for the win. Either fold it up, or enjoy the crunch if it's a little burnt on the bottom. So much great pizza even in Upstate.
Detroit style can be great if it's really crispy and has extra cheese.
Chicago style, eh, not a fan. Sounds like an unpopular opinion here, but I just don't get the appeal.
January 19th, 2022 at 11:42 AM ^
I think it is New York State law that every tiny village upstate must have a pizza place, and it must be called, "New York Pizzeria".
January 19th, 2022 at 1:43 PM ^
I lived just outside NYC in 8th and 9th grade and there was a pizzeria called Four Corners Pizzeria that had some of the best NY pizza I've ever had. I stopped there every day after school and got a slice and an orange soda. Back in the day when you could eat pizza and drink sugar soda every day without it affecting your body or health in any way.
January 19th, 2022 at 12:27 PM ^
I've lived all over, but after being in Brooklyn for five years after grad school--then leaving--I have wondered aloud ever since why you can get a better dollar slice on most any corner in NY that's better than almost all the other pizza everywhere else. I know, I know, the prices are rising. . .
January 19th, 2022 at 1:06 PM ^
Chinese take-out as well -- pretty much any $8 combo plate in Upstate is fantastic and better than anything I've found in Michigan. And those take-out Chinese places are everywhere out there. Some better than others of course, but still.....
January 19th, 2022 at 11:55 AM ^
Poll a bunch of Chicagoans. Most of them (including this one) will tell you that they prefer thin crust pizza and that deep dish is appealing mainly to tourists.
It's not that I don't like Pequod's and the others. I just think deep dish is overhyped as a Chicago feature.
January 19th, 2022 at 12:00 PM ^
We recently ordered Giordano's because someone in my house likes deep dish. I ordered their thin crust and it was horrible. No flavor at all, like they hadn't salted anything. I don't like deep dish so never ordering from them again.
January 19th, 2022 at 12:12 PM ^
Thanks for saving me big bucks this weekend, Wendy. I was going to try them out, will pass on that now. Haven't heard too many great things, and they seem way overpriced.
January 19th, 2022 at 12:04 PM ^
Aurelio’s anyone?
January 19th, 2022 at 1:14 PM ^
Aurelio's Thin Sausage Pizza is the best pizza in the Universe. Homewood location is my fave.
