Cutting Jim's salary = win more games
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:07 PM ^
First W in Madison in 20 years.
Win as an underdog.
Coaching adjustments.
Passing game.
I can’t complain about this. Kudos to Harbaugh n co.
It feels good to be a Michigan Wolverine.
PS: Keep the blue pants.
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:30 PM ^
Feels weird to have a Defense that actually makes adjustments.

"It feels good to be a Michigan Wolverine."
Technically, it feels GREAT...to be...a Michigan Wolverine.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:23 PM ^
Well apparently we were paying him per pound, not per win.
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:53 AM ^
125 yards on the ground? Fire Mike Hart. I kid. Good game all around. Keep rolling.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:27 PM ^
The is the first time Michigan has won in Camp Randall Stadium since I was in Kindergarten.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:24 PM ^
This is the first time Michigan has won in Camp Randall Stadium since I got married.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:39 PM ^
First time they've won in Madison since I adopted infant twins, one of whom has blessed me with a beautiful granddaughter.
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:04 PM ^
The first time they won in Madison since my daughter was born. She's now a Junior at UM. Go Blue!
October 3rd, 2021 at 12:02 AM ^
Same here. Mine is the fifth of seven kids. Hopefully we won’t have to wait another 20 years.
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:55 PM ^
I've had 4 kids since they won. 27 Before that, but those were in Thailand
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:29 PM ^
I was at the previous three wins in madison. sophomore year, senior year and as a young professional living in Chicago in 2001.
I've been to maybe 3 total games since.
After the game in 2001, we wanted to go to bar time at Stillwaters but didn't want to spend another night on couches of younger friends of ours who were Wisconsin students.
So we drove to stills. double parked. hung out and drove home (presumably drunk) to Chicago, leaving at 230 in the morning.
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:38 PM ^
I didn't get to watch the game on TV. Did the fact that UM hadn't won in Camp Randall in a while happen to come up in the broadcast?
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:09 PM ^
Not at all!
You missed seeing the empty student section in the 4th quarter. Also missed the Michigan bench “jump, jump around” along with the home team.
October 3rd, 2021 at 12:46 AM ^
Yea it did. They showed a graphic.
October 3rd, 2021 at 4:49 PM ^
Really ? I thought is was a well kept secret and nobody had brought it up all week here or elsewhere
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:48 PM ^
The entire board congratulates you on your matriculation.
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:55 PM ^
We are the same. Let's go being 25!
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:20 PM ^
This is the first time Michigan has won in Madison since I was a newly minted college graduate. Now I'm a captain of industry. Go figure.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:07 AM ^
First time since I was in high school.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:28 PM ^
There were a couple of funky game management decisions but what a masterful performance by the D. I don’t care what injuries Wiscy had or if they’re not that good - Camp Randall has been a house of horrors and we went in there and smacked them around. Go blue!
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:48 AM ^
Going for it and succeeding on those 4th downs on the opening drive sent a clear message to UW that we weren't going to be pushed around, that we were going to do what we wanted, and that they couldn't stop us. It sure set a tone that pervaded the game, except for the blip at the end of the first half.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:30 PM ^
Last year against Wisconsin at home, Michigan lost 49-11. This year, they won in Camp Randall (for first time since 2001) 38-10*. Last year, Michigan's quarterbacks went 13-26, 172 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT. This year, their quarterbacks went 18-29 for 253 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT*. Last year, Michigan ran for 47 yards on 19 carries. This year, they ran for 111 yards on 43 carries. Last year, Wisconsin ran for 341 yards on 51 carries. This year, they ran for 43 yards on 32 carries. Good shit.
* Garbage time not included
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:30 PM ^
Fantastic game prep and game calling. Great job by the coaches.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:18 PM ^
If you include the last touchdown by Michigan’s backups, you should include WIsconsin’s garbage TD too.
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:03 PM ^
I get this, but JJ was throwing against the Wiscy starters. Wolf was throwing against the Michigan bench, so there is a difference.
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:06 PM ^
Villari was Michigan’s garbage-time QB, not J.J.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:31 PM ^
No reasonable person can assign anything other than an A.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:31 PM ^
Well done. Big win with some things to learn from. Happy with the aggression on 4th down and play calling put us in position to make plays (!). Night and day from last week!
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
Don’t know what the 2nd half of last week was. But the coaching today was innovative, moderately risk adverse and not easy to predict. They deserve to be praised this week.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:58 PM ^
It feels like the team (coaches included) started thinking about Wisconsin at halftime last week.
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:42 PM ^
I haven't been this impressed with our coaches in a long time. The team looked sharp in all aspects, game plan, play calling, in game adjustments and the general level of aggressiveness. I was also glad to see McCarthy getting some meaningful snaps.
That first Wisconsin TD probably worked out for the best, frustrating as it was.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
That is literally one of the most well-coached games I have ever watched Michigan play. It's like in January of 2015 Harbaugh circled this date and said "that's when I break every tendency."
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
I'd like a heaping portion of crow and seconds, please.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
Cade played well.
Defense played very, very well.
They took shots downfield. Well coached game. They bludgeoned Wisconsin.
Michigan is five-0. Play the Hawaiian war chant and the theme song from the show.
Let’s. Go. Blue.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
Not gonna pick nits - that was a great coaching job today.
- The way they came out in the 3rd quarter was just amazing - especially after last week.
- Complete domination on both sides of the football
- SOOOOO organized and smart. Almost no penalties or turnovers. Really sound football.
- Distinct improvement from many players - coaching 'em up
- Intensity and passion, but smart too.
Well done. Well done.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:17 PM ^
Amazing how good we can be, when we have the attributes you listed here.
Go Blue.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:34 PM ^
I like the Wisconsin halftime speech way better than the Rutgers halftime speech!
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:34 PM ^
This is my HOTTEST TAKE:
Cade is good. Our coaches are good. We should be happy to have Harbaugh.
I know all of these points will be highly controversial, given the comments I saw in the game thread at halftime
October 2nd, 2021 at 11:05 PM ^
never.
EVER.
read the game threads. they’re occupied entirely by miserable, unhappy assholes.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:34 PM ^
There was a lot of creativity by the coaches and seemed like they were aggressive throughout the game even with the backup QB in. Obviously helps when the opposing starting QB is knocked out but I thought this was a great team win and the offense did great against a good defense. I think we may have something here. Let’s stay with few turnovers, play clean, avoid the injury bug and see what we have at the end of the year. Lots of good play though to start the year.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:34 PM ^
Imagine what this would have looked like had we not squandered the 1st and goal at the 5, and hadn't outsmarted ourselves on the late 2nd quarter kickoff.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:39 PM ^
I liked the squib call, honestly. You can’t predict a total defensive meltdown; they almost got a free possession there. It was aggressive and unexpected, everything we see in other teams and wish we had.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:16 PM ^
The squib kick was the right call. Mertz threw two absolutely perfect passes down the field. It is what it is.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:17 PM ^
Also: Mertz was dropping absolute dimes those two drives. Somehow, that always happens to us with shit QBs except against us
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:27 PM ^
That’s what I was thinking at halftime. A mediocre Mertz is going to go full heisman against Michigan.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:59 PM ^
I am with those who think the squib pop up kick off was a great call. Wisconsin was certainly not expecting it and we went off script for once. And we damn near recovered that ball. I loved the flea flicker and I loved the squib. Great calls.
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:36 PM ^
You can’t predict a total defensive meltdown
Meltdown? Hill was almost perfect in coverage on both those plays. Not much you can do when the QB makes 2 NFL level throws
