“Happy Gilmore” Released 25 Years Ago Today
And Brian’s terrible movies began.

Truly an American classic.

25 years ago? Fuuuuck. I'm so old.

? It’s all in the hips, it’s all in the hips! ?
What are you doing?
Just easin’ the tension baby, just easin’ the tension!
Well go ease it on someone else.
February 16th, 2021 at 3:08 PM ^
One of the most underrated lines of that movie.
I also like:
"You hit that guy!"
"He shouldn't have been standing there!"

?
You know that uh ‘mista mista’ lady? I think I just killed her.
February 16th, 2021 at 1:32 PM ^
Just . . . not a good movie. At all.
"Mr. Deeds," now that was good.
February 16th, 2021 at 1:35 PM ^
NOT A GOOD MOVIE?????????
February 16th, 2021 at 3:04 PM ^
The price is wrong Bobby....
February 16th, 2021 at 1:39 PM ^
Larry, you are half right.
I think Gilmore is pretty overrated.
Mr. Deeds is bleeping awful.
February 16th, 2021 at 1:46 PM ^
Some real trash posts by Larry over the last 24 hours
February 16th, 2021 at 2:17 PM ^
He's a fan of Coach K. You shouldn't expect much.

Sandler is a mixed bag, but here's a recommendation: Look up the "Romano Tours" SNL skit.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:25 PM ^
Whose cousin is he anyways?
February 16th, 2021 at 1:48 PM ^
Not going to lie - didn't expect "Mr. Deeds" to be treated as a paragon of cinematic virtue for Adam Sandler.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:54 PM ^
I thought that distinction should fall to Reign Over Me.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:07 PM ^
If it's a Tuesday afternoon, you're locked in the house and would rather do something other than wade in snow that goes up to your coin purse, this movie is a great way to spend 90 minutes.
As for your comment Cousin Larry...don't be redeekulous.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:09 PM ^
I agree with Larry. I've never liked Adam Sandler or thought he was that funny.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:17 PM ^
Then you really chose the wrong thread to open, read, & reply to.
But hey really appreciate you taking the time to let us know what you don't personally like. My day can now begin!
February 16th, 2021 at 8:01 PM ^
I like his Hanukkah songs,
and Happy Gilmore (Julie Bowen is very watchable) and Billy Madison a little bit. The rest of them are, for me, unwatchable.
There is a difference between saying we don't like something and saying someone should not have posted a thread.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:47 PM ^
You can't be serious, Larry.
Mr. Deeds has a few good moments, particularly with John McEnroe, but otherwise it was a very meh movie. Happy Gilmore is one of Adam Sandler's best, and such a quotable movie.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:55 PM ^
Mr. Deeds was ridiculously quirky. I found it charming.
If we're rating Johnny Mac appearances in Sandler flicks, his best was his (unfortunately) cut scene from Anger Management.
February 17th, 2021 at 12:46 AM ^
You won't find many people that were impressed with Mr. Deeds but the movie on which it was based was OK (Mr. Deeds Goes to Town) - not great but it had some appeal.
February 16th, 2021 at 1:36 PM ^
My Adam Sandler movie hot takes
Best/good/watchable despite not being highbrow
Happy
Billy
Wedding Singer
Big Daddy
Waterboy
That's my boy
Deeds
Click
Little Nicky
Honorable mention to Grandma's Boy even though Sandler was only a producer.
I don't care for 50 first dates, chuck and larry, reign oer me, grown ups, bedtime stories or Hubie Halloween.
February 16th, 2021 at 1:43 PM ^
Happy Madison does the Goldbergs as well which is a pretty funny show. I also enjoyed Strange Wilderness from them.
February 16th, 2021 at 1:46 PM ^
I forgot Strange Wilderness was from HM. Excellent late night comedy from Steve Zahn and co.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:26 PM ^
Sandler is pretty much the same character in all his movies, but I find them enjoyable.
February 16th, 2021 at 3:17 PM ^
Check out Uncut Gems. Sandler does Pacino.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:01 PM ^
Where would you put Bulletproof on this list?
February 16th, 2021 at 2:02 PM ^
Good list. I'd slot Waterboy in at #2 but otherwise agree with order. Thought Grown Ups was OK.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:07 PM ^
What about the one where he’s the agent? It was less awful than most of his usually awful work
February 16th, 2021 at 2:10 PM ^
Punch Drunk Love?
Uncut Gems?
He's no generational acting talent, but he can do more than just slap stick comedy.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:51 PM ^
Uncut Gems was phenomenal. Far better than I expected. He really nailed that character as just the piece of shit jewelry salesman, and honestly after everything he pulled in that movie, his character had that ending coming.
If you want another pretty good movie Sandler did that isn't cut from his normal cloth, then Reign Over Me was very good as well. A very sad movie overall, but it was well done, in my opinion.
February 16th, 2021 at 4:41 PM ^
Uncut Gems just didn't do it for me. Most headache inducing movie I've ever sat through. I do agree the he had that ending coming, I only wish it had come 2 hours earlier.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:21 PM ^
I agree, great list and tough to rank.
The Waterboy is my personal favorite and so funny at a lot of levels. Right down to Michigan experimenting with our towel boy...
February 16th, 2021 at 4:08 PM ^
Five yard completion and a first down. More receptions and yards than I have playing college football.
February 16th, 2021 at 5:14 PM ^
Fun fact: AIRBGH was born in that movie as well as Bobby broke the leg of the Iowa RB in that one as well.
February 16th, 2021 at 2:54 PM ^
Anger Management has got to be in there somewhere as well. Definitely not above your top 5, but probably #6. Maybe #7. I would have Little Nicky up higher than you.
February 16th, 2021 at 3:13 PM ^
I was driving for a bit after I posted this and would add Uncut Gems and Anger management to this list after further thought.
February 16th, 2021 at 4:39 PM ^
No Zohan, no list. Top 5 easy.
February 16th, 2021 at 6:00 PM ^
What about this movie? I love this movie.
February 16th, 2021 at 6:46 PM ^
I’d have Wedding Singer a little higher as well as Little Nicky above Click but otherwise good list.
February 16th, 2021 at 1:38 PM ^
Billy Madison >>>>>> Happy Gilmore
February 16th, 2021 at 1:43 PM ^
Seth Meyers made an extended "Harry and the Hendersons" joke the other night. That movie is 33-34 years old. It amazes me how far pop culture goes back now. I suppose in the 1970's my dad made some WC Fields references/jokes be only because his movies would occasionally play on [WKBD] TV-50 out of Detroit.
My kids constantly make pop culture references that they repeat from YouTubers and they have no idea what the original source was.
TLDR version: I'm old.
February 16th, 2021 at 1:48 PM ^
The price is wrong, bitch.

I eat pieces of sh— like you for breakfast
You eat pieces of sh— for breakfast?
... NO
February 16th, 2021 at 1:50 PM ^
Back then Julie Bowen wasn't so grossly skinny
February 16th, 2021 at 2:13 PM ^
Huh, wut?
Sorry, I was focusing on the beers and the fact not a drop splashed out.
February 16th, 2021 at 3:25 PM ^
The clip in black is better.

Shooter McGavin getting it on with Granny in the Gene Simmons’ KISS mask - quite bizarre and hilarious indeed. Shooter was an incredible character
