Treshaun Hayward Possible Transfer: Any new information?
With Cam McGrone leaving for the NFL and the rest of the non-freshmen linebackers seeking greener pastures, Treshaun Hayward (WMU, 2019 MAC DPOY) would be a welcome addition to the roster. Has anyone in the blog hive mind heard anything new on this front?
(First post, please be gentle)

Stop with the 'be gentle' trash, take it like a man!

You’re not allowed to say this...

Ghosts are non-gender specific, no?
December 30th, 2020 at 2:59 AM ^
Ghosts in general are, banshees are not. Just to be clear, I don't believe in any of that shit.
December 29th, 2020 at 9:47 PM ^
It’s a done deal and the reason Cam is going pro. /s
We sure could use a ready replacement. This one hurts.

I honest think this would be an upgrade after being dominate in the first 9 games last year I feel like McGrone took a step back at the end of last season and going into this one.
December 29th, 2020 at 10:46 PM ^
Wasn't he playing with a cast on his hand this year?
December 30th, 2020 at 8:26 AM ^
Yes. I can see where that might effect his tackling ability, and/or pass coverage. But it has zero effect on whether he is in the right spot, or doing the right thing, in regards to play calls and blocking. He was out of position more than anything - something that befell the entire defense this year.
December 29th, 2020 at 11:42 PM ^
Dominant. The word you are looking for is dominant. Dominate is a very, dominant is an adjective.
8.5.5December 29th, 2020 at 11:58 PM ^
Verb. I believe the word you are looking for is verb.
December 30th, 2020 at 12:19 AM ^
Be honest. How many times did you proofread this?
December 30th, 2020 at 12:35 AM ^
Honestly, once. I was immediately triggered by "dominate is a very". I couldn't pass up the opportunity, mostly because they were already busting grammatical chops.
December 30th, 2020 at 5:04 AM ^
Haha.. it's always funny and ironic when the grammar police break the law.
December 30th, 2020 at 7:39 AM ^
'Tis very apropos.

Quailman, I recommend upgrading to 8.5.6.

I bet it would help to know the status of our head coach and also have our defensive staff changes figured out.
December 30th, 2020 at 8:48 AM ^
Do you really think announcing a new DC would have changed the decision? McGrone was getting NFL draft hype before the season and was widely assumed to be leaving after this year.
December 29th, 2020 at 9:51 PM ^
If he doesn’t play hero ball this will be an upgrade!

Down-voted for "be gentle", "blog hive mind", and especially "greener pastures".
How about instead "to Maize and Blue pastures" !

Can’t throw the “blog hive mind” insult and then ask for us to be gentle

Connor Murphy - USC DE (6-7 270) - has entered the transfer portal. Murphy was a 4* (#268 on the 247 composite) coming out of HS.
You may recall that Harbaugh recruited him pretty heavily for the 2016 class with a memorable 'Netflix and Chill' home visit in AZ. Murphy's older brother Trent played for Harbaugh at Stanford and Jim babysat for Connor on a home visit while recruiting Trent.
Per 247
Ultimately, the consensus four-star prospect never found a consistent role with USC's defense line during his five years. Murphy saw action in 50 games (two starts) with 18 career tackles, 1.5 TFL, one sack, two forced fumbles and a blocked kick.
During his time at USC he played a hybrid outside linebacker role, a traditional 5-technique defensive end and even on the interior defensive line.
Will Harbaugh kick the tires to see if there is a fit at UM?

This is a nice find. Thanks for sharing.

We need more splash transfers, like Shea was.
December 29th, 2020 at 11:07 PM ^
Hard to believe Jimmy couldn’t close that one and lost him to USC.

He's too big to bulk up to DT, unlike the rest of our DE 'croots. Do not want.

Calais Campbell is 6'8".

Here is a photo from that home visit.
Speaking of home visits, does Harbaugh do many of these any more? In addition to this visit there was climbing a tree with David Long (and his little sister), go karts with Aubrey Solomon and the infamous sleepover with Nordin. I realize Covid pretty much killed a lot of the in person recruiting for '21 but it's been a while since I've seen anything publicizing Harbaugh visiting a recruit's home. Just wondering if he's been more subtle about it or not doing it as much.

Links please...will help you out this time.
Nagurski Trophy and Butkus Award finalist going home? Hell yeah. The 3 star crowd won't likey but looks like a good fit to me.
December 30th, 2020 at 12:10 AM ^
I honestly wasn't confident enough to try a link but appreciate the backup. Dude seems like a player, regardless of competition level.
December 30th, 2020 at 3:06 AM ^
The link didn't say anything about boners.

I want a Big Mac attack!
December 29th, 2020 at 11:19 PM ^
Bring him on down! Can't believe how many linebackers are in the portal Jordan anthony,Charles Thomas and osman savage! Plus cam going pro which I didn't see! Better hurry up before Tucker starts working on his brand!
December 29th, 2020 at 11:35 PM ^
That's one position we have recruited well but have had trouble retaining them. The three above and Drew Singleton as well.
December 29th, 2020 at 11:21 PM ^
“and the rest of the non-freshmen linebackers seeking greener pastures”
What did I miss? We lost every linebacker other than the freshmen? Where did that get posted?
December 30th, 2020 at 12:36 AM ^
I would like Hayward, or the 5 star transfer from USC - Gaoteote or Warner from FSU
December 30th, 2020 at 7:58 AM ^
No but we need to pick up Antonio Shelton from Penn St . Dude was good at defensive tackle! Not sure why he is transferring while he started.
December 30th, 2020 at 8:33 AM ^
Lets hope one of these elite DC candidates can recruit some talent off of the portal. If rumors stand true - the Defense is going to take even more of a hit.
December 30th, 2020 at 9:08 AM ^
Recruiting the portal has become such an important piece to college football success, and will only increase as this trend continues. I hope the UM Admissions administration will work with the football program to make sure these kids can get a chance to come here and play football for a year or two.
December 30th, 2020 at 9:20 AM ^
WOTS is that it's pretty much a done deal as long as he can get through admissions.
December 30th, 2020 at 11:09 AM ^
Can he play the Mike coverage role in 2 Tampa Zone ?
