Today's Schedule of Games
It's belated Rivalry Week in this chaos season (which will certainly be an ESPN 30 for 30 special some day), minus a certain "rivalry" that got cancelled due to COVID of which we shall not speak.
At noon, most of the traditional Big Ten rivalries: Illinois at Northwestern, Minnesota at Nebraska, Michigan State at Penn State, Rutgers at Maryland. I'll flip around the dial and see which ones are competitive.
Also, an actual matchup of 2 ranked teams: Georgia at a rising Missouri. Missouri is not rising enough to beat the Dawgs however.
In the afternoon, the highlight is Navy at Army (to be played at West Point for the first time in 77 years due to COVID). This game is always compelling pure football for its own sake. It is a pause in time for three hours, where your only reference is the other Army-Navy games played before it, as if it was its own slice of time in the universe.
Also in the afternoon, UNC at Miami should be a good one. I think the Canes pull it off. Wisconsin is at a sneaky-good Iowa that probably should have been the Big Ten West champion. All Iowa in this one.
In the evening, USC at UCLA. Beyond the rivalry game intrigue, USC is 4-0 people. At what point are they going to be talking about USC in the CFP if they win out, over some of the other one-loss teams they keep talking about? (Colorado is 4-0 too, BTW. Keep an eye on them as well.)
Your Pac 12 After Dark Special, wacky but meaningless football just for the fun of it: Stanford at Oregon State.

Game of the Day is in Nashville, where Vandy is attempting to avoid its first winless season in the program's illustrious 117-year history.

Had no idea Missouri was ranked so thanks for this.

Elephant in the room:
Michigan ducked osu. if it was a priority to Michigan, it would have been played, even short handed.
rivalry is over.
December 12th, 2020 at 11:48 AM ^
frank, found your FB picture....
December 12th, 2020 at 11:49 AM ^
It hasn’t been a rivalry for awhile.
December 12th, 2020 at 11:50 AM ^
And you ducked the fighting illini you wimps.
December 12th, 2020 at 12:05 PM ^
Because the Illibuck means nothing if we miss the chance to play Michigan.
that’s the difference.
HBO doesn’t make a rivalry documentary for the Illibuck or the brown fucking jug.

You're like toddlers. Stomping your feet and holding your breath can cause brain damage.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:08 PM ^
I'm taking it your not an alum. Because for people like me, whose granddad and dad went to UM like I did, there's no over even if I would want it. They've been playing for ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-THREE YEARS. They're both in the Big Ten. Next year we play once more. Your perspective takes in about three yards. For the institutions, it's a wee bit different.
December 12th, 2020 at 11:49 AM ^
Ball St and Western face off in an unexpected match up of 4-1 teams.
And who knew the best way to have a great record was to let Mel Tucker leave? The Buffs are 4-0.
December 12th, 2020 at 11:51 AM ^
Let's go Eastern Eagles, hoping this isn't the last game of the year in Washtenaw county.
December 12th, 2020 at 12:03 PM ^
This one’s for my pops: Go Army!! (And thank you, Navy).
December 12th, 2020 at 12:16 PM ^
I’m watching PSU-MSU right now. Both of these teams are horrible and we lost to BOTH of them.
I’m still absolutely stunned by that fact that Michigan football’s lord and savior, Jim Harbaugh, lost at home in year 6 to a horrible Mel Tucker-coached MSU team AND an 0-5 PSU team. I can’t even comprehend that those games, especially the MSU game, even happened. Just completely unbelievable and unacceptable.
December 12th, 2020 at 12:31 PM ^
I'm not stunned. At all.
MSU figured out in short order that Michigan's corners could not keep up and had to grab. They exploited the hell out of it. That's the sign of a coach who was paying attention, and the sign of our coaches who were not.
And PSU just has more talent than Michigan.
It's unacceptable. But it's not unbelievable. That's where we are after six years.
December 12th, 2020 at 12:33 PM ^
The strangeness of 2020 doesnt make it totally hit home, but it really is incredible that this team is so bad in year 6. These are the worst MSU and PSU teams of the last 10-20 years and we were pushed around by both of them. How did Harbaugh let this program get here? Theres absolutely no excuse
Harbaugh had better be thrilled we didnt have to play OSU because it may have saved him his job. Losing 70-7 to OSU could've and should've ended it
December 12th, 2020 at 12:54 PM ^
He doesn't deserve a job coaching Michigan. He has run it into the fucking ground. "We're really close"
December 12th, 2020 at 3:53 PM ^
Near zero inspiration playing for Harbaugh is what it looks like. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes; however, the product is just bad right now.
December 12th, 2020 at 12:30 PM ^
This Sparty-PSU game is horrendous. Between the terrible commentary, no crowd and commercials it is the most boring and unengaging game this year.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:36 PM ^
Turned that game on with 1:30 left in the half. PSU two minute offense was a train wreck, but they still beat Michigan... So depressing. I think I've seen enough college football this year.
Fingers crossed basketball team plays well tomorrow.
December 12th, 2020 at 12:42 PM ^
I generally don’t care about big ten games other than rooting (1) for Michigan to win and (2) for OSU to lose, but I find that Scott Frost has gotten me interested in Nebraska football. I now root for them to lose every week.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
This season has been utterly boring. College football in general is in a bit of a crisis I think. There needs to be a tactical innovation on par with the spread soon, or we're going to stay in this place where you could make an at most 6 team playoff before the season (with the same 6 teams every year) and basically be accurate.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:13 PM ^
I have a gut feeling if Michigan was 6-0, we would not be making posts like this.
College football is boring this year because of the pandemic, full stop. Nothing feels quite right.
Every other year before this and going forward, it will still be as electric as always.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:18 PM ^
Does feel like the air has been let out of the thing, over the last few years as the same teams dominated, but also this year--all pretty limp. I have not been able to sit still for a whole game, incl. M's games, all season.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:03 PM ^
Go Army. Beat Navy.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:06 PM ^
Geez Payton Thorne is better than any of our QBs
December 12th, 2020 at 1:22 PM ^
One of the craziest things about the Big Ten season is that 10 of the 14 teams have only two wins. I can’t imagine the statistical anomaly that represents.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:22 PM ^
Jerry Rice's son, Brendan is fast, nice PR TD vs Utah.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:26 PM ^
I see a lot of creativity from MSU and Mel Tucker. Who would have thought that this would have been a good hire? And not even with Lombardi.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:27 PM ^
How much time did people on here spend laughing about the Mel Tucker hire? I would bet MSU wins more games than Michigan next season and easily beats Michigan.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:29 PM ^
I can understand the shortcomings of Michigan this year...but I can't understand psu. Why are they so bad? When you compare psu to Michigan, they almost have a full team.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:38 PM ^
Really surprising thing is hiw lifeless Penn State looks. That last touchdown the cornerback looked like he felt like he was obliged to be in the neighborhood, but wanted to make sure he didn’t get in the way of that touchdown pass.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:30 PM ^
Alabama is good at football.
They may even be at another level than OSU and Clemson when it comes to depth and execution.
Michigan is so far from relevance in modern CFB.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:48 PM ^
Statistically, this year's Alabama team is as good as last year's Ohio State team.
I wonder whether people realize it or not that 2019 Ohio State was the best Ohio State team of the last 50 years. They were THAT dominant. But because 2019 OSU didn't win the National Championship, it won't be remembered in the same light as 2014 OSU.
That said, Clemson has a way of playing up to its competition. People forget that Clemson was an underdog to Alabama in 2016 and 2018 and won both times.
This year's Ohio State defense isn't as good as last year's Ohio State defense.
December 12th, 2020 at 3:26 PM ^
Agreed. OSU 2015 and OSU 2019 are two of the best teams ever to not even make the national title game.
Given how great OSU has been over the past 20 years, it’s quite remarkable that they’ve only won 2 national titles in that span.
December 12th, 2020 at 1:33 PM ^
Where's JUB at? He said we'd have a coaching answer by the end of the week! :/
December 12th, 2020 at 2:10 PM ^
Can’t wait for Army-Navy. I watch it every year. It’s the one non-Michigan game I would love to attend and hopefully I can someday.
i can’t believe we lost to both MSU and PSU. JFC.
December 12th, 2020 at 2:24 PM ^
I've had a chance to check out the Army campus, West Pointe. It is very beautiful.

December 12th, 2020 at 3:24 PM ^
Nebraska and Scott Frost lose again! It makes my heart sing.

Michigan's next opponent if there a game next week? My wife and I will be a house divided...
