Unofficial Depth Chart
Scouring the internet incessantly for anything Michigan football as we finally head into the first game of the season. I see that OurLads has updated their posting of the Michigan Depth Chart:
https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/michigan/91119
The question for the forum is who is OurLads missing or you feel will start differently this weekend. A couple might be:
- Who will get the start at RB? Charbonnet?
- Vastardis appears to have Center locked down rather than Carpenter.
- Who's behind McGrone?
- Not talking about CB since that's been beaten to death already.
- Are we going to be OK at Long Snapper this year?
- Giles Jackson is only listed as Kick Returner.
Also hoping that I actually embedded the link properly. Keep in mind that I was the first class at UM that didn't have to use cards, but I did use a teletype at Bursley a few times which was nearly as painful.

If one of Perry, Green, or Turner could be good at the cornerbacking, That would be great...

Don't mean to thread-jack but saw a VIP article on 247 that Domani Jackson has set a visit to Michigan. (number 3 overall 2022 recruit, cornerback, grew up a M fan). I am not VIP and am not asking for the insider stuff, but I am not sure how they can set up anything unless it is one of those unofficial tours, but they can't even talk with coaches etc. on those.
To the OP -- From past experience our lads is good in general but not going to be as precise as what you would find on a team-centric site. I think Carpenter was slated for Center but battled injuries and I doubt Harbaugh wants uncertainty at that one position on the line.

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei '22 DB Domani Jackson has been hoping to visit #Michigan for some time and told us he'll be in town to see the Wolverines in action next month https://t.co/aEHF1vex9d https://t.co/XYBDG1oEaL

OurLads has our defensive scheme as a 3-4...yet they list our starters in a 4-3 format! ???
October 20th, 2020 at 11:33 AM ^
I think we'll see a lot of different looks from this defense. Maybe something like this?
DL: Hinton at 0, Kemp and Jeter over the B gaps.
LBs: Barrett, McGrone, Ross, Solomon.
DBs: Gray, Hill, Hawkins, and... somebody.

Nothing good comes from fckin Minnesota. Our game better not get cancelled bc Flecks dumbass couldn’t control his players
October 19th, 2020 at 5:09 PM ^
In-land lakes are something that fckin Minnesota is good at.
October 19th, 2020 at 6:03 PM ^
By definition, aren’t all lakes inland?

By definition aren’t all lakes inland?
Not my fault.

We call most of those ‘ponds’ here in Michigan
October 19th, 2020 at 4:54 PM ^
These are all decent guesses, but Harbaugh usually keeps things close to the vest, so some of the Ourlads research may have been completed at their home office with some photos of Michigan players laid out on the ground and a whole bunch of lawn jarts.
October 19th, 2020 at 5:00 PM ^
Giles Jackson isn't listed as being on the depth chart on offense.
Next.
October 19th, 2020 at 5:03 PM ^
Ross cycles over to MFB, Barrett to WLB, Solomon to Viper? Or maybe Ross to MLB, Van Summeren to WLB leave Barrett at Viper
I think Charbonnet is your "starter", but I got the impression it just depends what offensive packages they open the game with. Could be a different guy any given week depending on the offensive set they open with. In terms of workload, my WAG:
Charbonnet: 60% carries, Evans 15% plus a handful of targets/game, Haskins 15%, Corum/Jackson: 10%
I definitely think they should look to expand Jackson's roll in the run game. He can do some serious damage in jet motion, both as a runner and decoy
October 19th, 2020 at 5:17 PM ^
Pretty good guess on the LB rotation. +1
Also think the back situation is wide-open to whoever produces. Percentages could go either way.

MFB? Motherfuckerbacker.

as in Jake Mother Fucking Ryan
October 19th, 2020 at 5:06 PM ^
Wtf is Ourlads?
And why do they think UM only has 4 total WR?
October 19th, 2020 at 7:03 PM ^
You’re telling me I didn’t make the 2-deep for the 25 time in all of my 25 trues? Dang ....
Welp, always next year.
October 19th, 2020 at 7:15 PM ^
Gray and Turner at the corners. Upshaw behind Paye. M. Smith probably 3rd on depth chart inside. Viper 2 Solomon. Upshaw DE 2.
Bell, Sainristil, and Jackson with 1s. Johnson and Wilson right there.

Guys that the fanbase haven’t heard much about, but you will:
C. Johnson, Hill-Green, Wilson, Paige, Ojabo Welschof, All, Upshaw, and Wheeler.
October 19th, 2020 at 8:14 PM ^
You know, I haven't given two thoughts about who our kicker is going to be. I totally forgot we still have a position battle there.
October 19th, 2020 at 8:53 PM ^
Jay Harbaugh said that Nordin has the edge in the kicking game
October 19th, 2020 at 9:06 PM ^
Kemp listed at 286 lbs. Is that accurate? Is that big enough?
October 20th, 2020 at 8:50 AM ^
If he’s only playing the 3 technique he should be fine at 286. He got eaten up last year when he was at nose and had to eat up double teams.
October 19th, 2020 at 9:40 PM ^
This would be my guess based on everything I've read, however I think they may try and have Sainristill and Jackson on the field at the same time frequently. Barnhart is the wild card. he could be a starting guard or back up either tackle position.
Slot: Jackson, Sainristil
LT: Hayes, T. Jones
LG: Filiaga, Keegan
C: Vastardis, Carpenter
RG: Stueber, Zinter, Rumler
RT: Mayfield, Barnhart
TE: Eubanks, All, Schoonmaker
WR: Bell, Henning
WR: Johnson, Wilson
QB: Milton, McNamara
RB: Charbonnet, Haskins, Evans, Corum
FB: Mason
SDE: Hutchinson, Upshaw
NT: Hinton, Jeter
3Tech: Kemp, Welschof
WDE: Paye, Vilain
Viper: Barrett, Solomon
SAM: VanSumeren, Ojabo
Mike: McGrone, Mullings
WLB: Ross, Hill-Green
CB: Green, Faustin
SS: Hawkins, Q. Johnson
FS: Hill, Paige
CB: Gray, Turner

no idea who he is and i don't have any insider intel. i just have no life and read about Michigan football every day.
October 19th, 2020 at 10:24 PM ^
Fun Fact.
I actually emailed them the depth chart a couple of months ago and they were very nice about it and updated it according to what I provided.
That also told me that they're just guessing because they literally made every change that I provided and they don't know me from...well, you.
October 20th, 2020 at 2:26 AM ^
My guess is uber talented guys who aren't necessarily known as being grinders (Gemon Green, Mazi Smith) will get more playing time than has been alluded to previously. Not everyone approaches the game like a walk-on, particularly when they are younger. Coaches have to motivate some guys more than others. Remember Lavert Hill? I think Green will get the first crack at starting next to Gray, albeit with a short leash. And Smith will rotate in if his effort and technique isn't atrocious. The big question for me is whether the Donovan Jeter hype is real. Because if it is, then Hinton and/or Kemp is probably going to be allowed to rotate at both DT spots.
October 20th, 2020 at 6:27 AM ^
If it's from Michigan and its a depth chart it is without a doubt unofficial
