Barnhart being on this list…

Barnhart being on this list is in large part a reflection on how poor offensive line play has been in the conference this year.

Mark Moundros was one of my…

Mark Moundros was one of my high school football coaches. He also led sort of a men's group for high schoolers that I was a part of, as he taught chemistry at the school. A wonderful person that I maintained contact with for years after I graduated. While in high school, I also played and blocked for Berkeley Edwards.

One of my college boxing coaches knocked down Tom Brady while he was practicing with the club boxing team. While I was on the team we occasionally had a few football players come by and work out or learn some skills. This was after I graduated, but Isaiah Gash won a collegiate national boxing championship. He could've had a strong professional boxing career, though his injury likely dashed those hopes.

I can't imagine how shitty…

I can't imagine how shitty it is to be "Iowa Edition of Brian Cook". Imagine charting the Iowa offense every game.

Making him play for that…

Making him play for that shitty team might actually be worse punishment than allowing him to sit out.

What a butt head.

Watching that 2017 clip gave…

Watching that 2017 clip gave me some serious nostalgia. I think it's the only time in my memory where on a down to down basis, I only watched the nose tackle just so I could see Hurst rip through the line on practically every snap. Just an absolute cheat code with his first step.

My millennial-ass answer is as follows, trying to find games that others might not think of:

UTL II (UTL I has been done a lot already)

The Jeremy Gallon explosion game against IU (2013?)

The 2010(?) fever dream game against Illinois

My take is that I don't…

My take is that I don't really agree with the article outside of the Pearson thing just like OP. However, I think it's a good thing that we have a student paper that's willing to make a statement against the status quo and put a critical argument out into the world that people can evaluate to make their own judgments about. I read the article and made an opinion about it--hard to make informed decisions without a critical perspective.

Edit: I also think my biggest problem with this article is that it points out problems without offering a solution too many times. Are universities expected to comprehensively address each point of a police report? What reasoning is acceptable for not suspending Smith a game? What would be acceptable for Edwards to say after that? The Simpson thing in particular I think is a huge reach because he did get suspended a game and saying he should've acted differently dismisses the the cultural phenomenon of young black men not feeling comfortable with police.

I think the thing people don…

I think the thing people don’t talk about enough is how recruiting is often a multi-year cycle and effects of good/bad seasons often take two years to take effect. Much of the 2023 class was contacted and recruited during a period that saw a disastrous 2020 season, multiple recruiting coordinators and significant staff turnover, not to mention the Harbaugh incident. Last years hot finish was the best case scenario.

This class was always going to be a bit of a comedown, but great early returns on the 2022 class and a large/strong 2024 class could paper over it and lead to minimal speed bumps down the road (as well as netting a transfer QB that keeps us afloat after JJ leaves)

IIRC, the Pistons drafted…

IIRC, the Pistons drafted Darko Milicic after only seeing him play in an empty gym...

"The story after those years…

"The story after those years followed that script, supposedly good QB's that didn't pan out and an O-Line that never reached its potential until 2021"

Picking nits: The 2019 O-Line was almost completely excellent, especially in pass blocking. Those guys all got drafted and many have had at least solid pro careers. The offense definitely underperformed but I feel like that's mostly on the QB and the coaching staff.

Many of the resources listed…

Many of the resources listed by OP are great places to start. They can provide you more information about what programs are available in the area your friend lives in, how they can get help, and even possibly ways you can talk to them. It's always good to consult with official sources with stuff like this.

It takes tremendous bravery…

It takes tremendous bravery to be this open and to take care of yourself in the way that you are. You have cultivated an incredible site with many talented contributors. You have done so much for the Michigan fandom with all of the time and energy you have spent. I am sorry to hear that it has depleted you so, but it is a testament to what you have built that I am optimistic that even though you are stepping back slightly, the site will persevere and be my most trafficked site by a large factor.

We look forward to hearing whatever it is you have to say when you have the time and energy to say it.

I feel bad for David…

I feel bad for David Dejulius, man. Transfers away from his home state to Cincinnati because he’s worried about Josh Christopher taking his PT, only to go to a dumpster fire Cincinnati program where he has obvious struggles while his old program sets the big ten on fire all year without even having Christopher on the roster. Would’ve been nice to have him for guard depth when Eli got hurt.

Always liked him as a player, and I hope he can find a situation that fits his talents.

Next.

It's not just that we aren't…

It's not just that we aren't recruiting top-100 DTs, we are barely recruiting anyone that's DT sized nowadays. Aubrey Solomon transfers, Donovan Jeter looks like a miss and we're left starting a nose tackle that should probably be playing SDE. Mo Hurst, Willie Henry and especially Ryan Glasgow weren't super highly regarded by recruiting sites but they were DTs all the way through. We should be recruiting at least one guy per cycle that's a legit DT in addition to the guys that are 245lbs that we hope we can beef up to 300.

This story makes me sad and…

This story makes me sad and angry, but what makes me sadder and angrier is that so few people are talking about this in the wake of his signing. It's embarrassing to know that millions of people will be cheering for this man while the woman he raped has to watch him be praised by fans and media alike. I hope future generations will right our wrongs and look back on today's rape culture with shame and embarrassment.

Was this move advised by…

Was this move advised by experts on sexual abuse and trauma?

No. According to a report Tuesday from the State News, the MSU Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct (RVSM) Expert Advisory Workgroup, created by Engler in February and tasked with helping improve student safety, was asked by school officials about potentially setting an end date for the fund in an email, and the group strongly suggested the school keep it open.

"If sexual assault survivors have entered into treatment based on the understanding that there were dedicated funds available to cover the cost of therapy, and then learn that they are no longer eligible for those funds, they are likely to feel that such changes are a gross violation of trust," the group said in an email provided by chairwoman and psychology professor Rebecca Campbell to the State News. "This betrayal will likely cause significant distress that will compound trauma symptoms they are already experiencing."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Sure, let's create a group to advocate for the people whose lives we destroyed, then just totally ignore that group. Fuck these guys so hard.

Anyone have any idea if the State game will be played at night? I was there for the last time and I believe it was a noon game but State was also crap that year.

Why don't they just…

Why don't they just implement the Dantonio Discipline System and let the players decide.

Oh come on, the players…

Oh come on, the players deciding whether or not a teammate should be on the team is bullshit.

If Reschke was a walk-on who would never see the field, I'm sure the team's answer would've been different but because he has a chance to contribute, they wanted him back. A person's talent level should not have anything to do with the discipline levied, but that kind of stuff happens when you turn discipline over to the players because they value winning over all else. If players were always had say in the discipline of other players all suspensions, fines, expulsions, etc. would be much less severe in almost every case.

Fucking pathetic.

Michigan football games,…

Michigan football games, especially against OSU, MSU and ND are probably the most stressful events of my year. I don't understand how you could watch the last two year's OSU games and not be a bundle of debilitating stress.

"He should be too busy…

"He should be too busy generating free content in any event"

God forbid the guy tries to make money for his hard work.

MGoBlog moment of fame: I…

MGoBlog moment of fame: I blocked for Berkley our senior year at Chelsea High school. He was a state medalist in track which definitely did translate in the open field. Quiet, nice kid who played really well when he was pissed off and was able to truck a bunch D3 high school kids. Had good hands and was pretty shifty but probably not elite enough in terms of shiftiness to be that small and perform well at a D-1 college. I really hope he breaks into the lineup somehow, definitely would be cool to see him succeed where his brother and father starred.

After I read the title

I only read to make sure that a /s was included somewhere...

Anyway good luck to JOK. Despite his, uh, erratic play at UM he seems like a good dude who works hard and always played hard for his team and his teammates.

Sleeping Bear

Did you even grow up in Michigan if you didn't at least once in your childhood sprint down sleeping bear dunes only to faceplant and front flip your way down, while bitching and moaining your whole way back up?

PUBG

Makes time fly faster than anything for me

Yeah

Of course, but alochol doesn't help alcoholics and cocaine doesn't help substance abusers. They do it even though it's not helpful because they're mentally ill and lack to coping mechanisms to not do it.

I don't think

that asking for someone that can coach better than anyone on the MGoBoard (as great as some of you may be) is asking too much

Well

He isn't Jourdan Lewis or Lavert Hill but if you don't think he's above average, think about the corners before the Lewis/Stribling era and he was about Raymon Taylor level opposed to late Countess or (shudder) Boubakar Cissoko level. I'd take that as a third CB every day of the week

Wouldn't it be nice

If all of our safeties had LB size and CB speed...

In addition to all other reasons

It's pretty hard to come in cold as an OL and pass block against the opposing teams's most athletic players knowing it's a pass rush situation

6th in tackles

They ranked 6th in tackles!!! Last year!!! Yeah we're really screwed, what are we gonna do with a team that posts so many tackles

What do shooters do?

Shooters shoot. This guy is a shooter.

Ulizio will be fine

Even if/when he's overmatched, there are things that you can do to mitigate that i.e leave a tight end in to help, chip with a back, etc. I trust that Drevno/Frey/Harbs can figure out how to minimize Ulizio's negative impact on the offense
