Isaiah Todd said on IG Live he's coming to Michigan and other positive Michigan BBall recruiting news
1. Tweet about Isaiah Todd: https://twitter.com/LamarAtkins13/status/1248078306852982784
2. Also, Josh Christopher to Michigan is a done deal according to a respected poster (John Miller) on UMHoops Forums. LINK to the post.
tl;dr: IT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING!!!
Posbang?
Bang!
Bang bang.
FUCK YEAH!
Absolutely love to see it.
I heard you infected the Corona Virus and forced it into quarantine.
He also killed 60 men with a single grenade..........and then it exploded.
Still nervous about Todd. But his response is certainly better than the alternative.
We're good again!
Kind of curious what would be behind all of the Michigan related deletions on Twitter then? I would have maybe thought to add a little suspense to the 15th but not if hes saying it on IG.
For sanity it’s best not to get worked up over a 17 year old kid’s twitter account.
Agree. Also believe it was an attempt at April Fool to spice up boredom during this quarantine time.
April fools is my answer why. My post was taken down for some reason, as political and religious ones stay up.
I thought the twitter thing was kind of blown out of proportion. On IG he still follows all of the players and one of his 20-something posts is him wearing a Michigan jersey.
There's too much fretting over Todd. He's only likely to be here a year and it's far from guaranteed he'll be a dominant force while he is. If he goes elsewhere, we already have guys on the roster that can step up and fill the role. Christopher is a much bigger deal. If we miss on him and lose DeJulius, we'll be in a world of hurt next year.
It's not about just one year of Todd. It's about establishing yourself as a destination for McDonald's All-Americans. It helps build Juwan's brand, and it helps take what Beilein did to the next level.
Amen...
"Theres too much fretting over landing the most exciting michigan recruiting class in 3 decades"
Throw it deep is so off base with his comment. One and done players are great to have. It means they’re really good. If a player like that helps us win some trophies, the one-year thing is obviously worth it.
I think he could have said it better, but I don't think he's wrong. Getting Todd and Christopher will be amazing if it happens and both players will have a big impact on and off the court. But if we woke up one day and our recruiting class was Christopher (5-star), Dickenson (4.5-star), Williams (4-star), Jackson (4-star), and Howard (3-star) would you be jacked for the season? Damn right - Christopher is an immediate impact, one-and-done player who fills a gaping hole on the roster and overall that's a top-10 recruiting class.
With the way the timing has worked out with Todd bringing immediate credibility to Howard's recruiting and having been "in" the class for so long, his importance is a little inflated related to making us a destination. Christopher is a better player and someone more likely to help us next year than Todd - both because of the roster and their maturity as players. Todd has the ability to do things on a court that we haven't seen much in the last decade. But if you read the wonderful piece on UMHoops on Todd and watch the videos you see a kid who has had almost no coaching and is extremely raw. He reminds me of a more talented DJ Wilson, who thought he was a shooting guard for two years before realizing that he was actually an NBA-4 or college small-5 that could exploit mismatches if he just stayed within himself. Todd will be great, but we probably won't see more than flashes of greatness if he only stays one year.
You obviously DO NOT KNOW BASKETBALL. It’s like saying Chris Webber was the real deal of the FAB5 and Juwan and Jalen Rose were ok their first year because they were so RAW. It’s like saying I bought a Cadillac it’s ok but I really wanted the Rolls-Royce! Yeah Cadillac’s suck. Amazing. Todd is and will be an integral part of our Championship run and you nor anyone else can downplay that! McDonald’s All-American isn’t that much of a big deal! Lol
No it's not anything like that. First, Juwan was a more polished and fundamental player (though not the athlete that CWebb was). Rose was a bit different but also very fundamentally sound and poised. I get the point. Todd will be a great player in time and I would love to watch him play in Maize and Blue but in terms of first year, instant impact, JC will probably have a better first year. That's in part due to the nature of the positions. Much tougher to have an instant impact as a big man. However, both would clearly have a significant impact because of their athletic presences.
idk. to me it depends on Todd's heart/desire. he could be a great coast-to-coast guy and create a lot more fast breaks this year. that height and skill is hard to match. we need to create a lot more easy transition buckets, because i see our turnovers skyrocketing.
Bo, he is right and said it very well (better than i could have). Todd is ranked where he is because of potential. Its not because he is going to come in and be as good as Livers. He is not even close to that.
Matter of fact, i will bet that Todd will be here more than 1 year. He will come in and compete and get some time ... sure. But going up against Johns and Livers at practice - and hell, against the Big Ten ... It will hit him like a ton of bricks that this is no longer high school.
He is Jarod Ward 2.0 - which is not a bad thing at all. Just don't expect him to come in and be near what Christopher will be immediately - HE is a one and done.
ward was not nearly as skilled as todd appears to be.
Ward lacked the fine motor skills that might have made him elite. He was a great athlete but his touch was never at the level of Todd's.
GRIII reminded me of a more athletic Ward. neither had the handle that Todd appears to have.
Todd will not be at uofm for more than one season lol. He will be a top 10 pick after his freshman year. Have you watched his recent highlights ? He isn’t just some tall athletic guy, he has skill developed. At one point he was underdeveloped, and now a bunch of people who don’t know basketball keep parroting that back.
His username checks out!!!
There's also the hype that comes with 'One and dones, advertisement for both them and the institution. It's a win win. I used to be of the mindset that a 2 year or three year guy would be preferable, but now that the '1 and done' phenomenon is the National norm, and you see the success they've had across the basketball landscape it's easier to accept. It's not just a Kentucky Duke thing.
Helps to have a guy who could easily be a dominant NBA player as an alumnus
Let’s fuckin goooooooo
It's going to be an exciting year in basketball next year.
Muppets
Why can we recruit so good in basketball and not in football ?
I ask the same question but with womens gymnastics and football. You would think the football team could find some recruiting success since that gymnastics team recruits and develops the floor routine so well.
Beilein made michigan a fun school to play basketball at. Many of these kids grew up early teens watching michigan make deep runs in the tourney
Also because basketball is played indoors. In football most of the HS talent is down south or out west and those kids generally want to stay in those climates. In basketball the talent is spread around the country more and things like weather dont have as much of an effect on their decision.
Few other reasons but I'm not typing them all out
Howard still has the new car smell. Harbaugh lost that, now he has to produce to recruit well. That and get better organized.
So what does Jim's car smell like ? Beer farts ?
Juwan has a hell of a lot more to him than a "new car smell". There has been a roller coaster aspect to his first year as HC but he has stayed rock solid...and this speaks to a strong depth of character and underlying knowledge that is going to buoy him and this program.
While I am disappointed to see, especially, DeJulius enter the transfer portal the roster happenings of the past week or so predict a very (good) exciting time ahead for Michigan basketball. Todd, despite all the hand-wringing, has always been more "coming" than not. The events surely predicts that Christopher is coming. This, also, likely predicts one of those grad transfers coming. And, there well could be room for another addition...Brown???
Regardless, the trajectory of Michigan basketball today, as opposed to a year ago, is both much more sure and optimistic.
I agree with BlueWolverine02. There are three ways to do really well in recruiting.
1. Be new, fresh, different. Offer hope. I'd put Howard here.
2. Win so many championships that the appeal is obvious.
3. Get involved in "strong ass offers."
You get them to sign on the line which is dotted...you hear that you fuckin recruiters?!?
AIDA.
You know what it takes to recruit? It takes brass balls to recruit.
This is great news. Now we just need coronavirus to fuxk off and not cancel next season
Mom was wrong.
Good things happen---and get posted---at midnight.
