I thought it was terrible
January 18th, 2020 at 5:59 PM ^
That’s just like... your opinion man.
You have to know how to listen to Eminem to appreciate most of his music. He’s a lyricist. The words he uses and the way he uses them. The way he tells the story. It was a phenomenal album from that perspective.
January 18th, 2020 at 6:28 PM ^
Pretty sure you just threw out every rap cliche in one post..
Em was his best when he was totally unhinged and freewheeling. Everything through Encore matched that description; everything after it was either him rapping held back, or him trying to reincarnate his old self and sounding corny. His latest album is no exception.
Go back, listen to 'Evil Deeds', 'Big Weenie', or 'Role Model', and try to convince me that's the same guy.
January 19th, 2020 at 10:17 AM ^
But that’s the thing. Eminem isn’t rapping like he was 10, 15, 20 years ago. Because he’s changed. The rap game has changed. He’s taken on a deeper, more serious message in a lot of his newer songs. Darkness was a song that theres just so much meaning in.
January 21st, 2020 at 7:37 AM ^
I agree that he has become a more vocal progressive, but that doesn't change the fact that his "new" flow is choppy and hard to digest. Some of his new songs are passable, but the overall body of work is very poor.
January 18th, 2020 at 9:52 PM ^
Same. Two minutes in and we’ve already had his staples on his last three albums and 5 or so projects: horrible production/mixes and incessant whining about critics.
I was pleased that he wasn’t doing that God awful rappity rap how fast can I go flow, but soon became annoyed by this new weird choppy flow that’s more like a cadence than true flow.

Right up there with Mozart

Don't knock Recovery
January 18th, 2020 at 6:27 PM ^
Recovery was pop rap garbage. Relapse was better.
MMLP2 was better. Kamikaze was meh.
This new album is good. Too bloated. But there are some fire tracks.
The problem with Eminem is the same problem that plagues JayZ Nas Luda and every other big rapper from their generation. They’re rich, famous and don’t have anything else to say outside of being rich, hating on haters etc.
Most fans will never be satisfied due to nostalgia and youth. Em n co will never reach those heights again.
That being said they’re way better than these mumble rap mofos.
January 18th, 2020 at 8:12 PM ^
MMLP 1 is his best album with Recovery a very close 2nd. MMLP2 was solid and Kamikaze had 4 good songs. His albums usually grow on me, but not a huge fan of this one initially.
January 18th, 2020 at 9:58 PM ^
Recovery has like 2 legitimately good songs on it lmao. A ton of mediocre songs with no substance and meh production. The Eminem Show absolutely shits on Recovery.
January 18th, 2020 at 4:15 PM ^
Recovery was hands down his greatest, and one of the most epic comebacks in hip hop/music history. Cinderella Man is still my favorite Eminem song.
January 18th, 2020 at 5:33 PM ^
I like the way you separate hip hop from music with a slash.
January 18th, 2020 at 6:17 PM ^
Yeah, I have to keep it fair because honestly I would never listen to hip hop if not for Eminem.
January 18th, 2020 at 5:38 PM ^
"So Bad" was the only banger on the album imo
January 18th, 2020 at 4:28 PM ^
Kamikaze was good.
January 18th, 2020 at 4:28 PM ^
Dude with weapons charges talking about gun reform. Ok then.
January 18th, 2020 at 4:37 PM ^
It’s almost like people can change and grow over time.
January 18th, 2020 at 4:43 PM ^
Except he raps in this album about killing people and blowing up like an Ariana Grande concert so I question his maturity level.
January 18th, 2020 at 4:54 PM ^
The lyric you mention is a reference to defeating everyone else in the rap game, which is a common motif in hip hop. It is not about actually blowing up an arena, rather it implies he is the greatest rapper in the industry. Keep in mind Eminem rose through the ranks by performing at (and often winning) rap battles, so this idea of combat especially makes sense within his material considering both his history and legacy in hip hop.
While the lyric may be in poor taste, you are taking it out of context and applying a meaning that simply isn't there, likely because of unfamiliarity with the genre.
January 18th, 2020 at 5:57 PM ^
But if Trump said it you would be saying something completely different.
January 18th, 2020 at 7:41 PM ^
Yes, because Trump is the President. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to hold the President to a higher standard than a rapper.
January 18th, 2020 at 8:05 PM ^
I can't believe you actually had to type that and hit save.
We're fucked as a society.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:02 AM ^
You guys are taking Eminem way too seriously.
January 18th, 2020 at 8:48 PM ^
Most people his age are deteriorating, not growing, and he is no exception.
January 18th, 2020 at 4:42 PM ^
So he probably knows about loop holes in the law and is most likely more knowledgable than most people about the issue
January 18th, 2020 at 4:51 PM ^
Or he’s a hypocrite.
January 18th, 2020 at 4:54 PM ^
You're right, since it makes us uncomfortable let's just have him rap about how awesome guns are so we can keep a consistent image of him in our heads
January 18th, 2020 at 4:56 PM ^
Yeah. Totally. You’re definitely right.
feel better?
January 18th, 2020 at 4:57 PM ^
Been feeling great on this kush sir
January 18th, 2020 at 6:07 PM ^
Very bizarre we are so worried about mass shootings when it’s so incredibly unlikely to happen. We really talking about taking away fundamental rights because a minescule amount of people misuse guns ? It’s mind blowing.
January 21st, 2020 at 8:06 PM ^
You ever been involved in a mass shooting? Because I was in Dayton when it happened here. Heard the gunshots. Saw people falling. Got evacuated out the back of the building.
Minuscule or not, it is a very serious issue, and shrugging it off is fucking insulting.
January 18th, 2020 at 5:30 PM ^
Governments have killed over 100,000,000 unarmed innocents by gun control.

Ya, they're droppin' like flies in Australia.
January 18th, 2020 at 5:43 PM ^
Firefighters and koalas with guns are the only solution to brushfires!
January 18th, 2020 at 6:02 PM ^
Australia had extremely low numbers of firearm related homicides BEFORE their ban. There’s no correlation to the ban and gun deaths there. It’s a culture issue.
Socio-economic issues in the US are the cause of the high rate of violent crime. Not the weapon (if any) someone chooses to use. Address the root cause of the problem, not a symptom or a tool.
January 18th, 2020 at 7:14 PM ^
We had a record low number of hijackers before 9-11, did we not institute measures to mitigate future hijackings? The lesson is you do something to minimize the harm. We didn’t have a large number of people being killed by automatic weapons and rocket launchers yet we don’t allow civilians to own them.
January 19th, 2020 at 1:50 AM ^
How did hijackers take down three skyscrapers at free fall speed into fine power dust with two planes? Do you actually believe what you wrote in 2020? I can see in that in 2002 but you are part of a very small minority at this point.
January 19th, 2020 at 4:24 AM ^
Western_ are you saying a small minority of people believe the planes destroyed the towers ? Because that’s not accurate at all. And multiple studies have confirmed the towers behaved exactly as would be expected if crashed into. Check into the Purdue study by their world class engineering department.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:43 AM ^
Who said anything about towers? I only mentioned hi jacking of planes. Do you dispute the planes were hi jacked? Do we not have different procedures for boarding planes post 9-11? You can believe whatever conspiracy theory your heart desires, but no one has ever argued the planes weren’t hi jacked.
January 19th, 2020 at 7:39 AM ^
FDNY stated last year that all 3 towers were brought down by controlled demolition but I'm sure you know more about it than them.
January 19th, 2020 at 10:27 AM ^
You post a 56 minute video claiming they said 3 seconds worth of words. Ain't nobody got time for that. Will not spend that amount of time to refute something that is so ridiculous. In any case, the National Institute of Standards & Technology refutes it.
You really think that a very small minority of people oppose your "view"? Don't let conspiracy theories get the best of you. The world can be a very fucked up place, but for the most part it is fucked up at face value.
January 19th, 2020 at 11:18 AM ^
You’re kinda highlighting my point. Was the issue hijackers? Or was the issue terrorist attacks? Sure, we addressed how easy it is for planes to be hijacked. All that did was change the method of terrorist attacks. You’re not addressing WHY we’re the target of terrorist attacks.
With gun violence, in any given year 80%-85% of all mass shootings are a result of gang violence. What causes people to join gangs? What causes the violence and crime in those areas with high crime rates? Low income, lack of access to healthcare, lack of jobs, poverty.
If you take away guns (good luck with that), you’re not changing the cause of violent crime. Violent crime will continue. At best you’re changing the method of doing it. If you address the reasons people do things like that to begin with, then you’re actually addressing the issue and you’re making meaningful change.
January 19th, 2020 at 2:49 PM ^
If I make it harder for guns to be accessed, I limit the opportunity for gun violence. Other countries have had liberal gun ownership like the US and then made it restrictive and what were the results? If I can’t get a gun as easy as going to local Walmart, if I can’t buy the ammo, if I can’t publicly display a gun without fear of arrest....the opportunities for mass shootings goes down. Gang gun violence decreases.
you can never eliminate a problem, but you can make it harder for it to occur. Terrorists using airplanes on a regular basis would bring air travel to a halt and bankrupt the airline industry. So it was a necessity to minimize that threat, we still ended up with the shoe bomber post 9-11. We locked up the cockpit of planes instead of having kids visit the flight crew. We don’t sell weapons after the security checkpoint to make it easier to commit the act. You can’t solve the misguided minds, but you can limit the ability of them to do harm instead of making it easier to commit the act.
January 18th, 2020 at 7:44 PM ^
Other countries have socio-economic problems yet lack the gun violence the U.S. suffers. I wonder what's missing in those countries?
January 19th, 2020 at 1:46 AM ^
I just showed you 100,000,000 innocents killed by their own governments and you call that low. Don't be a Holocaust enabler.
January 19th, 2020 at 7:20 AM ^
So you think guns is the thing that would protect you from the government? How did that work for the people of Waco? You think the second amendment is going to save the people from the government? How well did the constitution protect Japanese-Americans from internment camps during ww2? No matter how well armed you or any group you associate with, is going to stop the government from being evil if it so chooses. Imagine a civil war today, if you lived in a state that seceded from the country for reasons of it being evil, you think you win that war? You think you're winning a drone war with your guns? Our government has been killing millions of people post 9-11 and a lot of them were armed with more sophisticated weapons than we possess as citizens of this country. There’s plenty of countries that exist currently that have stricter gun laws and haven’t started an extermination campaign against its citizens.
January 19th, 2020 at 10:22 PM ^
Guns keep people safer from the government. I absolutely believe that. Gun violence just isn’t a big threat imo. We are murdering millions of babies in the womb, that a much bigger issue.
I been pushing the idea that abolition is racist for a while now. It kills black and brown babies at a far higher rate. Abortions have taken so much potential power and influence away from black people.

NO POLITICS PLEASE

This would be good news if it was Slayer instead.
