I am excited for next year
Neg away, but I am excited for next year. The offense is genuinely fun to watch, and I think Gattis will get better with another off-season. Hopefully healthy competition between Milton and McCaffrey. Excited for us to blow off the roofs off of Wisco and PSU at home. Should go to Cbus undefeated. What happens will happen but I leave this year excited (unlike last year). Now time to drink every red wine in the house. Go blue!

That should be Michigan's slogan; put that right on the banner.
"Michigan... How about next year?"
November 30th, 2019 at 5:14 PM ^
I thought the weed shops didn’t open until tomorrow?
November 30th, 2019 at 5:15 PM ^
I'm not, we have Harbaugh coaching us so we'll inevitably derp away a game early then get crushed in Columbus, rinse, repeat.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:17 PM ^
The sad thing is we've played better in Ohio than we have at home under Harbaugh
November 30th, 2019 at 8:48 PM ^
I love how everyone just glosses over the game in Seattle to start the year as if Harbaugh doesn’t have road issues against good teams... Guaranteed loss and the excuses will literally be bc of a new QB on the road.
December 1st, 2019 at 1:22 AM ^
Note to Self: Look up how many starters UW has returning for next year.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:15 PM ^
Our defense sucks. What are we gonna do about that?
November 30th, 2019 at 5:31 PM ^
Well, no Metellus should help.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:32 PM ^
Well, no Metellus should help.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:15 PM ^
We will literally be favored to lose our opening game, but sure that we'll go undefeated going into Columbus
November 30th, 2019 at 5:19 PM ^
Have you seen Washington play football this year? Are you aware of the level of ball being played in that conference?
November 30th, 2019 at 5:23 PM ^
Against the 4-5 Pac-12 Washington Huskies who padded their overall record with three OOC cupcakes.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:24 PM ^
Washington went 7-5 this year.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:18 PM ^
Wow yay go to Cbus undefeated and then get donkeypunched, what a great next year we will have.
we also play a decent team on the road to open the year, and this coaching staff is absolute dogshit on the road against teams with any pulse.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:20 PM ^
Meh, I'm sick of the 'next year' schtick. Time to just accept what we are: a 8-10 win program that will likely never be elite again.
Totally on board with us being a basketball school.
November 30th, 2019 at 7:13 PM ^
We have NEVER been elite in the modern era. So many people say this and its just not true. Even 97, we were great, but that offense was average at best.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:28 PM ^
For sure - sports are for enjoyment, and optimism for next year is the quintessential way to enjoy disappointment in sports. Hats off and go blue!
November 30th, 2019 at 5:33 PM ^
Seriously.
This board is nothing more than a bunch of BS cliches I heard (and laughed at) when my JV football coach said them.
Garrr.....there is no tomorrow! Garrr.....there are no moral victories! Garrr.....losers talk about next year! Garrr...
November 30th, 2019 at 5:55 PM ^
There are no moral victories.
Losers talk about next year.
November 30th, 2019 at 6:06 PM ^
Hence why they [and you] were JV.
November 30th, 2019 at 6:13 PM ^
Well, just about everyone plays JV football at some point before they move up.
As I've written on here many times before, I played collegiately and was on staff of some pretty successful high school teams.
A lot of us never got to coach at a school like Michigan but carved out some pretty nice careers for ourselves who just don't feel the need to puff chests on an online message board to feel like a better fan, father, or man.
I'm disappointed in today's loss, think it's time to move on from Don Brown,
and yes, excited about next year.
November 30th, 2019 at 7:24 PM ^
Touché. Read the tone wrong— that was my fault.
I moved from JV to Hockey, so no room to truly criticize.
I don’t know if I agree or disagree with moving on from Brown yet. I need 24-hours to let logic win the battle with emotion.
November 30th, 2019 at 7:17 PM ^
I’m guessing you ride the bench almost all JV year.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
Participation party tonight at Pete's! Lets celebrate!! I will bring the Capri Sun and orange wedges!
November 30th, 2019 at 5:30 PM ^
I am too.
Hopefully Harbaugh gets a Gattis-like hire on the defensive side of the ball.
Don Brown has to go. He's done more harm than good the last 2 OSU games.
If you go bland Cover 2 or Cover 3 for a whole game, you don't give up 50+ points. It's big plays that do that, like inexplicable blitzes on 2nd and 16.
Good teams just are not confused by him because it's the same thing play after play after play. Run some vanilla zone schemes for several plays, THEN dial up a blitz and try to catch the offense off guard.
There's no guess work with a Don Brown defense which is why good offenses know what to do to beat it.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:40 PM ^
I am excited for what should be a fun year with an exciting offense but unless we get our defensive Gattis from SEC territory that knows how to get bags to the right recruits I'll never expect to beat OSU
November 30th, 2019 at 6:59 PM ^
I literally lmao @ "defensive Gattis"
November 30th, 2019 at 6:53 PM ^
Agree.
Today and the loss in Madison were very disappointing. The team didn’t play their best and leadership didn’t step into the void when needed. Proud of their rally at halftime of PSU and since.
The roster is adding depth at OL and offensive skill positions - which take time to learn. The O has “learned” the concepts of this offense. The D could be excellent next year and importantly the DL will be better, especially if Kemp gets a 5th year.
Agree on time to move on from Brown after several eviscerating losses. His scheme is too vulnerable to teams with multiple athletes and O schemes that isolate matchups.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:32 PM ^
At this point, unless NLI happens, I just hope we start beating all other teams on the schedule and hopefully we can occasionally beat OSU. 11-1 and try to win the bowl game. Maybe the CFP expands to 8 teams and we can actually make it. This is where I'm at at this point. We arent going to majorly cheat or cut corners so this is all I can hope for.
November 30th, 2019 at 6:57 PM ^
NLI is the chance of an equalizer for teams unwilling to wade into the deep end of the recruiting muck. UM should be a huge winner with the size of the fan base, corporate connections and wealthy alumni - all arguably a top 2-3 support network. Something has to break the recruiting dynamic of the top 6 and “wink, wink” SEC type of sales pitch.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:32 PM ^
I'm not. It's gonna be same old same old next year. Another year of Brown shitting his depends and giving up 50+ to OSU in a blowout. This is life under Harbaugh.
I'm excited for hoops. Juwan Howard is a Michigan man we can be proud of. Already as many top 10 wins as Harbaugh has in 5 years.
November 30th, 2019 at 7:28 PM ^
In Harbaugh’s defense:
1.) Top-25 Football =/= Top-25 Basketball
2.) Basketball does play eleventy-billion more games.
November 30th, 2019 at 8:00 PM ^
In Juwan's defense, it took him seven games to accomplish more top 10 wins than Harbaugh has in 5 years.
December 1st, 2019 at 9:30 AM ^
Why would you compare two different sports? That’s just... dumb.
ps- I think Bakich too might have more top 10 wins in a similar timeframe. OMG!
November 30th, 2019 at 5:32 PM ^
Brand new QB and WRs plus no telling who transfers and whatnot.. I'm not ready to project how well next year's team will be until the attrition dust settles
November 30th, 2019 at 7:06 PM ^
If a bunch of kids transfer because they were not starting this year, then this would speak to the quitters we are recruiting. I don’t know if that is true.. Kids need to wait their turn, if it turns out to be, but they have no patience anymore. If we aren’t getting a bunch of elites, I don’t know why there’d be a huge amount of attrition. They should see opportunity. If I am Nico and DPJ, I come back to play into 1st rounders, show they don’t drop passes, work on their hands.
We lose Hudson, Glasgow, Uche, Dwum, Kemp, Hill, Metellus, Gil.
Ambry, Dax, Gray, McGrone, Ross, Aidan, Mazi, Hinton, Paye can make up a solid defense. Would love to see them run a 4-3.
November 30th, 2019 at 11:33 PM ^
We'll be fine without Shea. He just doesn't run the ball. McCaffrey will be a big upgrade there. Hopefully he can throw. Shea looked good throwing...until OSU started blitzing and he fell apart. Had some drops but he got way worse. Wasn't stepping into any throws.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:32 PM ^
Can’t spell Columbus without...Cubs.
hey, only took ‘em a hundred years.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:38 PM ^
The next win over Ohio State may be the sweetest of any of our lifetimes. I am looking forward to it, hoping it comes sooner rather than later. Go blue forever.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:46 PM ^
I’m 34. Hopefully I live to see it.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:40 PM ^
OSU is still on the schedule. We may still have Harbaugh as a coach...
November 30th, 2019 at 5:41 PM ^
How can you be comedic after that beatdown?
November 30th, 2019 at 5:41 PM ^
How can you be comedic after that beatdown?
November 30th, 2019 at 5:46 PM ^
9-3.
10-2 ceiling.
Blowout loss to OSU.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
Too soon, dude. Good for you, but WAY too fucking soon for me to put on the Mr. Optimism hat.
Stayed til the end to watch a bunch of real assholes (sat next to two) revel in our misery on our turf. Those guys are just way bigger, faster and just better and I don't see the solution.
November 30th, 2019 at 6:30 PM ^
this is an honest question - were the two real assholes reveling in our misery ohio state fans? or michigan fans?
our fans (at least around here) are the most miserable assholes i've ever been around. 90% of the people on this board are people that i wouldn't sit next to if you fucking paid me.
November 30th, 2019 at 7:20 PM ^
Agreed
November 30th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
They were bucknuts. I still get frosted over M "fans" who leave early or sell their seats outside of the AD system. Way too much red in the stadium.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:52 PM ^
Not naming names but there are guys on this team that won't be missed next year. We had a few guys out on the field that while they may excel against weaker competitiion and played their butts off they just are not talented enough to match up against the big boys. What's worrisome is how we just did not have the size and strength too play big boy football. Wisconsin and OSU basically kicked our teeth in. I for one am glad Mattison is gone. The old dude couldn't relate to younger guys and hence he did a terrible job of recruiting solid d lineman and left the cupboard pretty bare. Hope he does the same for the buckeyes.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:52 PM ^
I agree. I think we truly improved mid way through PSU. Our offense is on the way up and more exciting. Get some good DT's and I think we are all set. We have some good QB's waiting in the wings and now that we are throwing more WR will certainly be looking.
We will win our bowl game!
We played the #1 team in the nation. We didn't get it done and it happened to be OSU. Day can only ride this wave of Meyer's players so long. It won't last!!!!
Appreciate the positive outlook!
