SIAP: Chris Balas now reporting that Juwan Howard to Michigan is a done deal
All that's left is the announcement #donedeal https://t.co/tXeaoz5fCP

Nice! So excited about this!
Per source, Michigan framed up the head coaching opportunity to Juwan Howard during his interview on Tuesday by selling him on becoming the "basketball version of Jim Harbaugh," providing the resources to build a "pro-style” program.@5ReasonsSports @Lefty_Leif @Balas_Wolverine

And Juwan didn't need much selling. He made it clear immediately when John Beilein left that he was interested. He was the first guy we know of who reached out (through a very good friend of ours - and the program's). https://t.co/ewK7lir30s

We're a football school *and* a basketball school.
What does that mean? Does it mean Michigan will break out the money canon? I hope part of the interview process included Juwan convincing Warde that he has the talent to run a top 15 basketball program.
I'm told that Juwan Howard will indeed be the next head coach at U of M.

His interviews with Warde Manuel & Turnkey were outstanding. Told Manuel there would be no dalliances with the NBA.
Also told that Michigan is going to make a massive offer to keep Luke Yaklich on staff.
I am also told that Michigan reached out to Stevens, Few, Donovan, Wright. None were interested.

The preference was Howard to paying LaVall Jordan’s buyout. Shaka Smart would have been the next option.
Cooley used his connections to get an interview so he could leverage that.
Don't fuck with my emotions...I just literally posted this...
Won't get excited until I know Yaklich is on board.
Once that happens...I'm ALL IN! Until then, I'm, well, skeptical.
I think this can work if we get something like this...
HC: Juwan Howard
AHC: Luke Yaklich
AC: Someone (preferably younger) who can recruit his (or her) ASS off AND coach the guards
(Kimani Young - UConn, Chris Quinn - Miami Heat (ex-ND player, Columbus native), Jimmy King - HS Coach)
AC: Someone with HC experience that wants to hang around for a couple of years.
(Tim Miles is a pipe dream, Kareem Richardson from UMKC may have some L'ville stench on him, maybe someone like Maurice Joseph from GW or Chris Casey from Niagara?)
This would be a DREAM staff, IMO.
I like the Tim Miles idea.
Sounds like 95% of the exact same stuff I was hearing. The biggest question now will be if Yak will accept the raise and stay which I believe he will for a year. Saddi is the one I wonder about. Haven’t heard a word about him.
I hope all of this is true but IMO Jeff Moss is about as connected as my morning dumps. He has thrown out total bullshit about Harbaugh and then hid behind "sources" when it of course was wrong. Dude's a total hack.
You insisted yesterday that Warde had serious interest in hiring Cooley because he was one of two people to get an interview. You also gave people shit for saying that interview was a favor and that he never really was a viable option.
Now there’s quotes saying just that. If you’d keep your mouth shut for a day and wait for information to come out you’d prevent yourself from looking like such an ass all the time.
Money Canon in D sounds beautiful. Is one of my favorites.
So does this mean Shaka is still in the running?
Shaka to Golden State confirmed.
I'm ok with this
Quick, someone tweet Jaden McDaniels
Talk to me nice. Say it is so!!!? My guy deserves this opportunity. This will only be right https://t.co/TWWH4UuiTZ

Man WHAT!!!!?? Absolutely the right choice and i hope it becomes a done deal ASAP!! One of my favorite people I’ve ever met at the age of 16 and been around since then. ?? https://t.co/hdmF60odnm
— LeBron James (@KingJames) May 22, 2019
Are those guys basketballists?
Don’t know but they are tweeting from the future!
I’m going to take a big leap here and assume current NBA superstars tweeting support of this hire and for Juwan could resonate with top recruits everywhere.
I don’t know, just a hunch.
LeBron is a Buckeye, but I wouldn't be surpirsed to see DWade in Maize and Blue.
Remember, Wade was a Jordan Brand guy until he went with his own shoe from China.
Regardless, they're both HUGE supporters and that's going to be awesome for Michigan.
I personally think he'll be able to sell LeBron and DWade MORE than he can sell the Fab 5.
Wade goes to Nebraska football games every year because his wife went there. But Juwan has been with the Heat for about 10 years.
It’s the best of both worlds. Because you know who he can sell the Fab 5 to? Recruits parents. They will all remember the Fab 5.
Quit upvoting this clown. It’ll give him more leeway to start dumb, hating ass threads later on
Fuck yeah
#HAIL
UMbig11 bringing the heat!
If it's from Balas, it's now legit:
FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!
How does Speed in Space feel so far?
Guessing ornithologist like yourself can also speak authoritatively on this topic.
Juwan-na bet how pumped I am?
Oakland better not be in play in a couple of years.
Good. Glad this is over with. Now we can all go back to being concerned about Army.
Don't sleep on Middle Tennessee!
I'm more concerned with gravy than Army.
Go with gravy in a can. It's especially good when it comes out and retains the shape of the can.
Gelatinous gravy. Hell yeah!
Gelatinous gravy killed Keith Jackson.
Allegedly.
I thought gelatinous gravy was what Craig James used to kill those hookers?
I'm getting chills thinking about the Big House reception Juwan will get next year as he steps onto the field. It's gon' be epic.
Considering Kerr's job is safe for the foreseeable future.....
lol
I'm happy with this. Aside from unobtainable 'home runs' (Donovan, Stevens, Wright, et all), getting a highly regarded NBA veteran and soon-to-be NBA coach is as good as anything is going to get this time of year. Add the history with Michigan that he has, and the fact that he's worked for really good organizations and head coaches, and it's only better.
Of the available guys, he was one of the very few above my hypothetical Yak-line. I think the only way this could have gone better is a so-called 'home run'. It could have easily gone way wrong...
Terrible...
Is the "Brady" in your name Brady Hoke?
Guy was actually kind of a jerk to me the one time I got to meet him and congratulate him on his success after year one.
I don't want to pile on, but you gotta come up with a better alternative if you say this. Tony Bennett/Brad Stevens/Jesus aren't coming. Who would you have rather had that was actually obtainable?
Steve Prohm, Kevin Willard, Kevin Keatts, Dan Muller, Gregg Marshall, Shaka Smart, Dan Majerle, Luke Yaklich, Randy Bennett, Mark Few. Ya know, coaches who have had success in college basketball.
But Warde would've had to make calls, conducted interviews, and stuff. Too much effort to hire a head coach in 1 of the 2 revenue sports I guess.
Define "success". Because many on your list have had little to no success as a coach, and the others are unattainable.
