Score Prediction for Saturday

Submitted by MichiganFan1984 on

What is your score prediction for Saturday? With Black out maybe it changes things for you. With a chance of thunderstorms maybe that changes things as well. At this point I think we all know the basics of what we have to factor in when making our prediction for Saturday. I say we play steallar defense most of the way and hold them to 13.  They have a good kicker and they will get a TD somehow with the help of their crowd. We come out in the 2nd half on fire on offense after struggling early and the final score is Michigan 34-13. Am I crazy for this prediction?

17-7 Michigan

offense looks efficient, but Notre dames defense is legit. If we hang 30+ on them it’s time to get very excited

dont need to comment on our defense

I reall don’t see ND giving too much of treat as the game continues. First qrt will be tight(first game, in the road and rivalry) but after that, harbaugh is such a better game manager than Kelly. Kelly will play two qbs ad will insert one at the wrong time.  31-14 Michigan. Shea will two tds and mvp of game

Michigan 45 Notre Dame 42, in 3OTs

Always an unpredictable game... I think we'll look really good for most of the game, then bad things will start happening near the end, as they have so often on the road (or anywhere) against ranked teams over the last too many years. But this time, with "cool head" Shea Patterson, he will find a way to lead us to victory in overtime!

Michigan 24, Notre Dame 17. I think this Michigan is better than ND and will show it, but they are playing on the road in the first game of the year with a quarterback who's new to the program.

28-14 UM.

I have road doubts but knowing they have an offense that isn’t stellar and will struggle throwing the ball, I find it hard to believe our D gives up much. We turn it over and give them an easy TD and their offense will muster one at home.

I think we are up 7 late and score a defensive touchdown to put it out of reach.

I will say, I've never understood the crowd that uses strings of unrelated events to portend the future, and especially the very strange argument that our bad luck with ranked opponents on the road means continued bad luck or things in that vein.

That said, I think this is a winnable game - 30-17 Michigan. I reserve the right to be wrong as always and this guess is based purely on an interpretation of anecdotal stories from both camps.

It's not a case of expecting continued bad luck. It's the more rational thought that going on the road and winning a night game against a quality team (ND is ranked higher than us at #12) is very difficult to do. Add to this the last available evidence any of us have of this team (end of last season) and I'd say expecting a win is much more irrational than expecting a loss.

Sunday’s open practice was designed to dupe ND.  Every key guy was out so what the fuck!

My opinion is that was mostly  gamesman-ship.

UM 35  ND 17

Shea passes for 275yds with 2TDs and no INTs. He also gets a rushing TD on a bootleg.

Karon rushes for 175yds on 15 carries with 2 TDS and looks like a total stud.

Receiver yards are spread evenly with Evans getting a couple of big gainers including a TD.

Ben Mason is the difference maker in the run game and scores a TD on a wheel route to perfection.

Go Blue !!!

OL is good in rush offense with Ben Mason cracking skulls like an NFL pro and OL is adequate enough in pass pro. RBs are better in picking up the blitz and Shea keeps ND honest with his legs.  OL grades about 40 in fancy stats.  Thank you Coach Ed.

Go Blue !!!

A -3 to +1 swing is significant and should be of real concern less than five days away from kickoff. A flip like that doesn’t happen unless there is a major injury or suspension coming. Black’s injury couldn’t move the number like that.

Shea struggles for the first half and we all have shades of 2017 haunting us.  We are down 10-3 at the half.  Then the offense comes out in the second half and lights up the scoreboard.  The D will not disappoint.  Michigan 31, ND 13.

I think Wimbush makes a couple of plays with his legs.  A running QB is about the only thing the Don Brown defense struggles against.  ND jumps out to a early 6-0 lead after a couple of drives stall in the red zone.

ND stacks against the run early and Patterson struggles but connects to DPJ for a TD.  UM is leading 21-16 late when an untimely penalty extends a 4th quarter drive.  ND cashes in, and takes a 22-21 lead.   The 2 point conversion fails.

Patterson drives down the field to the ND 40 where Nordin attempts a 57 yard field goal as time expires that has the distance but hits the right goalpost.

Make it ND 22 UM 21, UM stays ranked in the AP.

Erm, you do realize MSU fans don't particularly like either UM or ND?  I wish ties weren't removed so you guys could have a game where no one wins.

I just have a gut feeling a bad call is going to go ND's way and that UM, while being better than ND isn't actually going to win the game.  If this game was week 2 in AA, I think UM wins it.

I’ll accept the ‘impartial’ assessment of the game.  That being said, there is no way you or any Sparty “doesn’t particularly like” ND to the same degree at UM.

As impartial as I can be, I think this is Shea Patterson’s coming out party.  He throws for 3 TDs in the 1st half and we ride the backs to victory in the second.  31 - 17. Maize and Blue

I like the confidence, but I'm going 17-10 win for the good guys.

This game is always goofy. I love our defense, but expect our O line to be a little shaky. I hope Patterson is the real deal. if our pass protection isn't improved from last year we might see a lot of him scrambling and trying to extend plays.

Can't wait to see this team play!
