I'm basically treating this thread as a POSbang.  As a Michigan grad and general check-in-er of Ohio State and their program, I may find this too easy to believe, and I'll latch on to it pretty hard.  But on the other hand Ryan Day is such a childish prick, this is actually a reasonably likely source of the whole issue.  If so, may Day burn in the circle of hell for those who "investigate" their rivals in lieu of meeting them in the arena.

I think Stalions would be super-hyper motivated for that cage match!  Dude worked hard to make his dream come true, and was living it.  He worked himself onto the sideline of one of the most successful college football programs in the history of the sport while having no football experience whatsoever.  Now, the whole 'manifesto' thing is weird, but the work ethic to get ahead and make the dream come real should be celebrated.  Honestly, I wish more people had that work ethic.

There's a fact that he's also an idiot and just wasn't able (or didn't care) to see the downside of his work ethic.  Nonetheless, I'd be unsurprised if he was willing, ready, and able to kick some absolute ass in a cage match against whoever leaked his shit.

Watch this circus is going to turn into ex-DEA agent provides blow or steroids to the his brother's players/recruits. Given how this crazy story has started, it will only get weirder.

Ok, then this was the weirdest case of mishearing a guy/confirmation bias ever. So the news comes out a bit before the game is over (Skyblue shared it on a other forum). I have the live NBC feed on my TV (no DVR) and I'm watching it with my brother and a mutual friend.

Game ends and we're all already looking at our phones when it sounds like Day gives a post game interview. I hear him say what I wrote above and all three of us at the same time look up at each other and, in shock, confirm if he just said what we thought he did. We all agreed.

Though, it is telling that nobody else seemed to post about this so I absolutely believe you. In fact, if you have a copy of the NBC feed on DVR can you tell me what he actually said? Maybe my audio needs upgrading or it's a really awful case of three people mishearing the same thing. Thanks.

I wish I were more savvy at grabbing video off a YTTV recording so I could post it but all I can tell you is he talked about the defense, Henderson, and Harrison. I heard nothing even remotely close to what you guys thought you heard. So I can't really hazard a guess other than it was something he said in a different setting, like at the press conference or it was something Noah Eagle said that you misheard. I don't know. Weird.

These guys should have used a Delaware LLC.  You have total anonymity.  This stuff would not be public record there.

God, I hope this is proven to be connected to the genesis of this shit.

There should also be a flaming bag of shit burning right now on the front porch of 75 Hayden Circle.

I can’t imagine he’d be stupid enough to hire his own brother for this as that would be way too easy to trace back. But his brother reaching out to others on Day’s behalf…..maybe.

Even if it’s proved that Day hired his brother for this, are there any real, actual consequences for him, aside from what the perception would be? I’m guessing it wouldn’t be against an NCAA bylaw or against the actual law, but he’d absolutely be viewed as a pathetic coward and it would set a very dangerous precedent for the rest of college football that now we can start investigating our rivals.

Ohio DEA agent who punches holes in his drywall when the bucks give up a field goal is a little on the nose

Okay, maybe I'm being dense, but other than being a dick move, what are the negative ramifications of hiring your brother to do an investigation?  (Even if the brother did something illegal, that falls on the brother unless you can tie it back to the coach-which seems unlikely)

There could be control violations. How did this firm get put on the vendor list? Was it competitively bid? If Day helped direct a university contract to his family and didn't follow university procurement rules, that would be an issue. It's a major controls violation to direct contracts to family members.

But there is no evidence that OSU hired this firm, or any firm. This is likely a coincidence. If a firm was hired, the connection to Day's brother is most likely a conversation like "a PI firm can help with this. You should speak to your ADs attorney about it."

To me, if OSU/Day hired his brother, it would mostly just be embarrassing for OSU. “OSU couldn’t beat them on the field, so Ryan had to go to his brother to hurt Michigan off the field” kinda thing.

I’m finally to the point of “wake me up when it’s done.” I don’t think this is going to amount to much aside from some minor/small suspensions and a probationary period.

I see all these posters writing "Day isn't stupid enough/is too smart to hire his own brother."

Why? He's plenty stupid from everything I've seen from him over the years.

If even a fraction of this is the case, imagine being so incapable of beating Michigan that you had to see if perhaps your sibling could do it, and then not on the field. Maybe they are so annoyed with being called "soft" because it is, in fact, true. That certainly happens from time to time among humans.

not only that, but the more i think about it, if OSU really did have anything to do with that, what was Day's realistic hope as far as the outcome?   Did he really think he'd manage to get Harbaugh suspended, fired, or otherwise off the field before THE GAME?

none of this improves OSU's on-field chances, as far as I can tell.  perhaps I'm missing something.

So the investigative firm is called 4th and 1, and the founder's brother is the head coach at one of the biggest programs in the country. He could easily be fed thr typical structure of a major program, and rumors passed around among coaches. Is it unreasonable to suggest that this firm has been tasked to sniff around other programs in the past year?

Great investigative work. However I don't care about this.

1. I already knew Ryan Day was behind all of this

2. Clearly the media and NCAA don't care that they did this

Since it's clear that there aren't any repercussions for them doing this Michigan needs to retaliate now. We should investigate and know everything about Ohio State, including what Day had for breakfast this morning. Unfortunately, Warde is a sackless clown, so he won't do anything.

Funny you should say that, because Operation Daybreak is just about ready to roll. I was going to send you all copies of the operational plan but it's kind of long and the print costs alone would probably bankrupt the operation, so I've posted a copy to the Vast Network google drive. Password is 42274523, don't tell the coaches.

Still a couple of loose ends to patch up, though:

  • The op laid out on pp. 357-384 will probably need to be scrubbed; we'll find another way to get that information. It was a cute idea but we don't have any volunteers for the honeypot and I don't feel right asking.
  • Is anybody here from New Hampshire?

“PI” stands for “pigment intensification.” He has his own line of beard dye for tough men. He gives his brother a volume discount (says so on LinkedIn).

"we" have.  but "we" aren't going to have any definitive answers for a while, and "we" are tired of sensationalism-driven hit pieces in the media driving the narrative, so "we" can talk shit about the "investigative" side of things to lighten our moods.

maybe you should focus more on how known facts match up with the bylaw language so that you can stop doing silly things like using the word "crime" in context of this situation.

it's not even clear that M has violated any rules.  and to me, it's at least mildly interesting that the NCAA was on campus thursday and friday, but as of now, there's been no change to Stalions' status - he's still suspended with pay.  If UM had gotten the impression from NCAA officials that what stallions had done was absolutely a violation, I'd bet $1 that he'd have been let go, or at least transitioned to 'suspended without pay' by now.
