They say "Please note that on Parade Day prior to the start of the Rose Parade, the foot traffic flow on Orange Grove Blvd. between Colorado Blvd. and Green St. will be closed due to parade activities." And that it is "imperative" that you arrive at the stated time. That sounds like no wiggle room. Sorry. But my guess is that you simply won't have access at other times. Enjoy the parade and celebrate NYE on Michigan time!
IMO, this is insane, and not the good kind! Bay Area neighbor here. I recommend you get the 6:45 Southwest flight from SJC to BUR. Almost no risk of fog/weather at SJC compared to SFO. Winter delays at the other airports can be gnarly. The flight arrives at 8am. Zero stress. You'll love it. Southwest has another nonstop 2 hours later if something goes wrong with the first.
The last flight of the night is 8:40pm, which is tight. Very tight. CFP games are super long (extra commercials!) You risk missing the BEST PART of the game / trophy / etc. Assume that rideshares will be at maximum surge IF you can get one. 90,000 people are leaving a stadium - with difficult vehicle access! - all at once.
You should be able to find a cheap if unremarkable hotel near BUR to fly out first thing the next morning. It will save a lot of stress.
TBH, he's a UM Law grad who appears to have represented Steve Shields (the apparent good guy) in the recent Umich hockey abuse matter that resulted in some substantial housecleaning. That said, it's strange for a guy who usually fights for employee rights to be on the side of the (even) bigger institution. Maybe he's just used to seeing the University across the table and doesn't mind upsetting them. Still, if this is true, I'm not buying the guy a beer anytime soon.
I logged in for the first time in a long while to opine as follows:
- Leadership can and should be consistently evaluated. It comes with the territory, and you don't need to ask permission to do it.
- This crisis is one where there's no 'right' or 'wrong' answer. We're generally choosing between 'less bad' and 'more bad' options. Sometimes you don't know the extent of the badness until well after you make a decision (sigh).
- Hopefully, leadership relies on experts that allow it to be more likely to choose the 'less bad' options as early and as frequently as possible.
- If leadership is being responsive, it allows movement from 'more bad' to 'less bad' when data (from inside or outside the university) says otherwise. Bad leadership will stick its head in the sand, turn inward, obfuscate, and fail to communicate openly, honestly, and effectively.
I love football. I feel for our athletes and understand their frustration and impatience. On-campus labor organizations most likely have very different (perhaps conflicting) objectives from our athletes. It's up to good leadership to prioritize properly for the good of the university overall.
An LA Times article had a gem of a quote. She knows her M football even though she played at Northeastern:
“She just looks at every sack and hopes it’s not me,” [Michael] said.
[Kendall] nodded. “I know he’s going against [defensive tackle Maurice] Hurst and I don’t see any sacks so they’re winning. So I was able to get refocused,” she said.
I'd say "go" without hesitation. I had a great experience in my one and only M game in South Bend. Fans in the stadium were very classy, and it's always worth a walk around campus before the game.

The focus on attention to detail tells me that he's prepared his replacement well. Looking forward to it!
If you are still sitting (standing?) on an extra ticket, please let me know. clmatt at the mail service from Google. I'm local and can meet up.
Or maybe...?

Definitely not in-season OT. No connection to Michigan. Plenty of other places on the internet to discuss this: https://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ot-sam-altman-ceo-openai-creators-chatgptg…

We need to know what Taylor Swift would think about a possible Jim Harbaugh NFL suspension! </s>
"4th and 1 Investigations", huh? If Ryan Day started a firm, it should be named "3rd and 30" because it's 90 feet from his birthplace to home plate.
Are you sure NBC? I would imagine OSU @ PSU in the prime slot.
If you consider the 2024+ Big Ten, it's six of the top ten teams
Not gonna lie: they had me at "in-venue activations".
I find it really irritating when I have to find my login information simply to downvote a post, but it is what it is!
Great to see. I must admit that I teared up a bit when I read "13-0 Lions".
Nothing good comes from amplifying the trolling in "Fake Michigan fan screws with OSU fans the day of The Game". Already at -5 and dropping

Stay healthy, all!
Step 1: Open original link and save to your Drive
Step 2: Find it in your Drive and then make a copy (separate step)
Step 3: Find the copy and then download that
Worked for me, and I had the same issues when I skipped step 2. Good luck!
