Health of player going into The Game

Submitted by Bo Harbaugh on November 20th, 2022 at 11:36 AM

Obviously yesterday was no fun as a fan until the Moody legend finished off the Illini.

That said, I am very hopeful we see a fully operational and healthy team this week. Obviously, Corum is the headliner, but off the top of my head, here are some guys were kept out yesterday.  I'm really hoping they didn't play simply because Harbaugh believed we could win anyways (probably more comfortably if not for Blake injury and fumble at end of half tbf), and he knows that OSU and the B1G were really all that mattered in terms of controlling our own destiny.

Dudes we need back...let me know if I missed anyone...

1) Corum

2) Donovan Edwards

3) Luke Schoooooooonmaker

4) Mike Morris

5) Trevor Keegan

6) Trente Jones

7) AJ Henning

I'm going to assume that NHG, even if capable, just doesn't have the reps and isn't in game shape to go.

Thoughts on anyone I missed.

Corum is likely getting an MRI today. I know Harbaugh was optimistic with his status but I'm skeptical.

Edwards will play but has an injured hand, so he might not be as effective in the passing game.

Schoon will be back.

Trente Jones is already back but is now second string.

Morris could play but is still limping and won't be 100%. Not sure if the staff prefers to play a limited Morris over other healthy options.

NHG is out for the season.

Hopefully Keegan is back.

Can't tell if you're trying to tell me I'm wrong but he was certainly hobbled when they ran out of the tunnel.

He was dressed but if he was game-ready, he would have seen some snaps yesterday when the pass rush wasn't getting home at all.

“He was dressed but if he was game-ready, he would have seen some snaps yesterday when the pass rush wasn't getting home at all.”

Why on earth would that be the case? What possible benefit would that risk provide when the result of yesterday was pretty irrelevant to a winner take all outcome next week?

That's a really excellent point to bear in mind when it comes to who was played vs. their injury status. At the end of the day, the game was meaningless. Win or lose, a Big Ten championship and CFP appearance ran through Columbus this weekend.

Beating Illinois at the expense of the Game would not have been worth it, and I have to assume that played a good deal into who was getting reps.

Some of these are your projections. Right? For example, we don't know if BC is getting MRI and if he will be ready. Or you know something? Sorry. Not being a jerk. Just wondering.

DE-- We don't know if he will be 100 percent or not. From your statement, it sounded like he will not. Is this confirmed?

Your original post said, "Corum is likely getting an MRI today."  And now in this post you say, "I am 100% sure Corum is getting an MRI".

Your level of certainty seemed to rise when challenged.  I echo what UMForLife said - I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just trying to read the tea leaves of what anonymous people say on the internet, and figure out what to believe.

For what it's worth, Angelique tweeted out a video of Blake delivering turkeys in Ypsilanti today.  And Blake said he's good.  https://twitter.com/chengelis/status/1594399929501458433?s=20&t=T2C0e3SC41UUzThcm36glg

Not optimistic about Blake.  Putting him in for just one play in 3rd quarter shows that JH was willing to give up chance to beat Illinois and hold back Corum for OSU.  Without Blake, we really don’t have much of a shot.  I suspect a bad meniscal bruise, with ligaments thankfully intact, but if he can go it will be a miracle.

Huh?

You rabbit holed the fuck out of this one when Harbaugh has already told you want it was.

A bruise, nothing structural. He wasn't giving up a chance to beat Illinois...we beat Illinois without Corum in the 2nd half.

And per Harbaugh, Corum wanted to go. Harbaugh told him to "communicate" and reminded Blake that we have Stokes, Dunlap and Gash and that it is "next man up." And Blake relented, and chose to coach and cheer on his guys for the 2nd half rather than try to be a hero.

You can infer a million things from that. But there is no reason to go to negative town when Harbaugh explained what happened.

How about, he was willing to risk losing to Illinois in order to maximize the chance of beating tOSU (and thus winning the East division) next week?  Fortunately, UM pulled off the win over Illinois at the end while still keeping Corum from aggravating the injury.  Hope we pull the upset on Saturday.

On his one second half run, he powered through defenders and gained a few extra yards, just like he almost always does. It looked very encouraging, but as with other players, I think Harbaugh went all in for OSU and gambled they could beat Illinois without using Corum further, or anyone who was even a little banged up.

"Death Crimson" is considered one of the worst video games ever made, definitely one of the worst for the Sega Saturn.  It was never released in the U.S. yet it sold more copies than it had any right to, because it was one of the only games released for the console that supported its light gun, leading to its notoriety in Japan.  The awfulness of this game spawned a cult following (kind of like the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" phenomenon but for a rail shooter), including a gamer who made a "Death Saturn" by gluing the game disk to the carousel of a Sega Saturn, gluing the tray shut, then gluing the light gun to the controller port, such that the console can only play Death Crimson.

Also we play OSU this coming Saturday.

Intracranial atherosclerosis has historically been considered an infrequent cause of stroke in western populations, yet data has consistently supported it to be a major cause in Asian, black and Hispanic populations, especially Chinese. With recent technological advancements however, the impact of intracranial athero has historically likey been underestimated and it in addition to cardiac sources likely cover a majority of undetermined stroke etiologies.

Was wondering why Henning was not in the game.  Did not see anything about him being injured. Maybe that’s why he has not seen the ball that much this year?

He's also just not very good. Bell is clearly a better punt returner and Henning missed some huge lanes when they gave him opportunities on the ground. He is an obvious transfer candidate with Cabana filling that role immediately as long as he shows up above 190 lbs.

Edit: He's a former 4* in his 3rd year of playing time and has 384 career yards rushing and receiving combined. He also publicly retweets complaints on playing time. Doesn't bode well for his future with the younger talent developing behind him.

Well what other choice do we have? We’re 11-0, but only delusional people don’t realize that is all a mirage. We’re first in ppg allowed, but that is also a mirage based on having played no one. We’re fifth in ppg scored, but we ran too much when we scored all those points. On top of all that, we almost lost a game this year. We didn’t of course, but we almost did, and everyone knows almost losing is obviously far worse than actually losing!!

Bro, have you ever watched a season of college football? It is EXTREMELY rare for a team to be 11-0. That is why there are only 4 teams left in ALL of college football. We have one of the best teams in the country this year. Are they perfect? No. Does that matter in 99% of games when they are this good? Also no.

Take a chill pill and enjoy this team.

What is your issue today?

You create a good thread if you're so concerned about the state of threads.

There is nothing inherently wrong with this thread other than its been asked and answered before.

But it beats 15 threads about Sparty and a damn tunnel and it's not like it's pushing good content off the first page.

No worries, in 2 months you'll get a daily "THERE ARE" thread until September '23.
