Eli should have put that shot up when he was underneath.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:30 PM ^
Reminded me of the final moment of the UCLA game when he couldn't finish from there
November 16th, 2021 at 11:57 PM ^
Yeah , looked like it was a pretty open look for him. Ugh. Frustrating loss
November 16th, 2021 at 11:14 PM ^
Made a free throw he was trying to miss. Incredible.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:14 PM ^
Tonight’s play is indicative of a long season. Put the NC talk on ice. This team has holes and it was exposed today.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:14 PM ^
Refs stole that game from Michigan.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:17 PM ^
Don’t do this.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:17 PM ^
Michigan shooting 3-15 from 3, letting Seton Hall get second chance after second chance, and making mistake after mistake stole that game from themselves.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:20 PM ^
Absolutely did not. There was not one call I was mad at or surprised by. Jones committed some stupid fouls that I hope he learns from. So far he is looking like a downgrade from Mike Smith.
November 17th, 2021 at 9:12 AM ^
The refs didn't steal it - Michigan just lost that game. But the 2-handed take down of Dickinson late should have been a technical. The ref was watching the whole thing, and (just like that guy against PSU that watched Upshaw get tackled right in front of him) decided 'nah, screw it...'.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:14 PM ^
Pathetic finish.....
Two weak possessions to end the game
November 16th, 2021 at 11:17 PM ^
For all of Howard's pluses, his end of game play designs have always underwhelmed.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:18 PM ^
Disagree. Brooks missed that shot. It was there he just missed.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:19 PM ^
I would love to see Michigan's record in games like this. Seems like they lose more than they win. This reminded me 100% of the UCLA game.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:15 PM ^
Failed early season test.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:15 PM ^
Goddamn fucking bullshit!!! Incompetent ass fucking referees!
November 16th, 2021 at 11:30 PM ^
Yeah… that was it.
November 17th, 2021 at 12:02 AM ^
Disagree. They poo’d this away big time. Refs had nothing to do with it in my opinion.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:15 PM ^
I love eli brooks, if eli brooks is the guy with the ball in his hands the shot clock running down this team isn’t going to be winning a championship this year
November 16th, 2021 at 11:15 PM ^
Yikes. Lost at home to a team that was awful last year and mostly transfers this year. We might be good later this year, but we aren't there yet.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:18 PM ^
Awful they were not.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:19 PM ^
Been trying to hammer this in the lead up to this season. The pre season expectations for this team and where they would be early in the year especially were outrageous. They are replacing a ton and have no proven guys who can create and hit their own jumpshot on the perimeter and a very big question mark in terms of 3 pt shooting overall. There is going to be some serious struggles and inconsistency. There was last year too, we went to overtime with Oakland.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:15 PM ^
It was 8 on 5 all night
November 16th, 2021 at 11:15 PM ^
We don't have a point guard
November 16th, 2021 at 11:15 PM ^
I don't understand why they switched the way they defend ball screens. They should have stuck with the drop coverage, because they clearly don't know how to hard hedge effectively. leaving so many shooters wide the fuck open.
This is probably with trying to win with athletes and rebounding. You need to be able to shoot effectively. Williams is still a bad shooter, Johns is a bad shooter, Jones is a scared shooter, Houstan is a drastically under performing shooter.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:16 PM ^
Blowing an 11 point lead in the 2nd half. Classic.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:16 PM ^
Hey at least we lose, we lose early and maybe they grow from it.
Jinx from all the crap threads talking about other teams losing to unranked teams before we’ve played half a dozen games.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:16 PM ^
Michigan has to learn to beat not only their opponent, but the refs as well. Until they figure this out, they will never win a championship in basketball or football.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:17 PM ^
I don’t know about any of you, but that team didn’t appear to have any of the juice flowing that last years team did. Not yet at least.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:17 PM ^
Our spacing seems bad. We don't have shooting threats. Jones is not Mike Smith...a dude who can pull up or catch and shoot at a 40% clip. We're gonna miss having a pg who can do that. Work in progress. Lotta young "talented"/athletic wings albeit a batch of jumbled skills.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:17 PM ^
Rather get this out the way early
November 16th, 2021 at 11:17 PM ^
This team needs some growing up to do. Made too many mistakes that cost them the game.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:18 PM ^
Johns is lost on both ends, Houstan is a major defensive liability and doesn’t provide much without his shooting, the refs were one sided as usual smelling the ol upset(that got every close call), and who would’ve ever thought we would lose on free throws.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:18 PM ^
That sucked...
November 16th, 2021 at 11:18 PM ^
I didnt catch much of that but wow, they looked awfully handsy and were allowed to do so. Was it this bad all game?
November 16th, 2021 at 11:18 PM ^
Johns needs to get behind Moussa and Twill for minutes. He is scared and plays below the rim. Until he shows confidence I will take the other two. We are going to have a lot of bumps this year. Jones trying to up his steal count and Houstan not staying with anyone was a killer tonight.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:19 PM ^
First test of the season and it was a miserable failure. That happens in basketball and the good news is it may not mean much if you can learn and grow and I have plenty of faith coach will make sure that happens.
onward and upward. I still have hope for Jones but John’s is like a lost puppy out there. I mean it almost looks like something is wrong with him how confused he looks.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:19 PM ^
A lot to learn from this game. So early in season. Tough one. Bottom line though is several guys have to play better.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:19 PM ^
Stop bitching about the refs. Look right at two senior players: Johns and Jones. They lost that game. You can expect freshmen to struggle, but you can't have two 4+ year players, starters, play like they did.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:19 PM ^
Too many turnovers, no shooting today and no penetration to the basket that wasn’t met with nasty blocks. Horrible matchup but this team has a lot to work on
November 16th, 2021 at 11:19 PM ^
All of the weaknesses came to bear tonight. No 3 shooters, no one to go to at the end to take the big shot, lots of fouls as a result of not moving, and a team clearly that hasn't yet gelled. Some of that will be fixed over the early going, I hope. Would love to see someone step up as a go-to 3 shooter. Good message for a young talented team and lots of stuff to get coached up on.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:21 PM ^
Michigan lost because they're not good enough yet and I don't know this for sure, but if these refs are from the B1G, once again, fuck this conference.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:22 PM ^
Man, this website crashes anytime anything of note happens in the Michigan sports world.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:24 PM ^
Ive lost Loved ones during the time spent trying to load up a Monday night at 10pm.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:25 PM ^
Not a great game. Learn and GROW from it. This is a young team that needs multiple guys to figure things out in a hurry. With that being said, I don’t see a National Championship contender unless a lot of things improve offensively. Houstan and Johns were liabilities on that end of the floor tonight. Jones was…okay at best. Diabate is incredibly raw on offense. Dickinson and Brooks are the only guys playing with confidence on that end of the floor.
November 16th, 2021 at 11:30 PM ^
I think a run in the NCAA tourney is more likely than a BIG title this year, although we would need a guard to step up for either (in additional to Brooks)
November 16th, 2021 at 11:25 PM ^
Hyper aggressive team like they are and on the road and we got six more fouls called than them. Yeah,ok!!!
November 16th, 2021 at 11:26 PM ^
I'm OK if we are a football school this year.... let's win the next few games in that sport
November 16th, 2021 at 11:29 PM ^
Make some 3's, force some guys to be more assertive offensively (Johns and Jones), and avoid Jeff Anderson calling any of our games. We need to improve, and Seton Hall is a very good team
