Yeah the teams putting up 7+ yds/pp probably do. But teams like Troy and Charlotte can put up 6+ yds/pp which with our defense would likely be enough to keep us in every game we play this year. Surely there aren't 94 coaching staffs better than ours.
Fair but do we really have any shot against Penn State if it's McCaffrey's second start? Or are you saying we take the hit this year for his development?
Divisions suck but they were needed for a conference championship game which is extra money for the conference and gives a better shot at the playoff (which is more extra money). Ideally we could ship Maryland and Rutger somewhere else and use a Big 12 model where the top 2 teams play for the title. Then we wouldn't get the States and us beating each other up for a chance to play a decent Wisconsin/Iowa team with an inflated record.
I wouldn't put too much stock into the FPI. It swings a lot, for example we started with a 42% chance to win the B1G. It's all still ahead of us but there's a 0% chance if we don't start producing on offense.
I hope Iowa plays Penn State well but doesn't win. Essentially the same message but we avoid having to face a pissed off, backs-against-the-wall Penn State
Better, not great, but definitely better. The defense was fantastic and it appears their struggles against Wisconsin were a fluke (knock on wood). The offense obviously has a very long way to go but they showed flashes (albeit not many) of what "Speed in Space" is supposed to mean. Hopefully we put together a good showing against Illinois and build some more confidence in our offense.
I'd say it's the opposite. We haven't been able to establish a competent run game even when teams leave 6 guys in the box. If we can't figure out how to get 4 yards a carry and have some threat of breaking a 20+ yard run the passing game will continue to suck as teams can afford to keep safeties over top in man. Comes back to the o-line which also fails to give Shea enough time to throw.
If he leads Bell to the sideline thats six, or if its Nico or DPJ going for a jump ball. Also If we can't rely on Moody to convert thats a problem. It might be enough to win this game but we're very far from being Notre Dame or PSU ready.
LSU was kinda like the Michigan of the SEC, granted with more results and somewhat better recruits. Why don't we take a look at how they got an offense and copy that?
Speed in space is the biggest joke of all time. For the talent on the team the lack of big plays if horrific. Thats why were miles from OSU, PSU and the other good teams outside of the conference.
Well J.T. is one of (if not) the best running back in the country. Also it looked like they were catching blocks on their heels and also peeking in the backfield instead of following assignments. I think it was flukey
This running game needs to get fixed quickly. If every team can stop us with 5/6 in the box they can just drop into coverage shut down the passing game. We're so one dimensional on offense

True but playing well feels good no matter who it's against. A coach can't teach you confidence but Rutgers can give it to you. That game was so necessary.
I'm still dumb enough to root for OSU to go into The Game undefeated so we can beat them but obviously that won't happen so I really don't know at this point. MSU would logically help strength of schedule but sadly it's fun to watch Justin Fields light it up.
I'm all for trying something new because it clearly wasn't working. I think he realized that he has to be more involved and help coach up the players in the moment rather than after the fact through film. Obviously youre sacrificing a better view of what's going on on each play but with tablets and tvs they can still get that view live. I always preferred coaches on the sideline to tell you what they see and what they want from you.
I agree. The defense needs to fly around. If they mess up they better do it while playing fast and aggressively. No more catching blocks. As for the offense I'd like us not to play injured players so we can be as healthy as possible for Iowa. Other than that a run game of some sort would be nice. Better protection for whoever is in the pocket and some explosiveness. Lets take shots downfield.
Great! Sounds like we're gonna play an injured Charbonnet again (why not let him get back to 100%?, is Christian Turner that bad?) and have no running game. Of course it is Rutgers so it should be fine.

Shea was a warrior. Great to see them not go quietly into the night after falling behind big. A lot f positives from this game. Beat ND
Bell's had a fantastic season and played his heart out. Absolutely sick to my stomach when they showed him crying on the sideline. Head up Ronnie
They grew up in one of the toughest environments against one of the best teams. Regardless of the final score they proved themselves tonight
Theres a team in Columbus that hasn't looked too bad at all...

Follow the old Wake Forest UNC model

James Proche is a dude
Tulsa but yeah impressive for sure. Tulane beat Army this morning
SMU with a tough break. In OT Tulsa scored a touchdown on 3rd after the play clock hit 0 but it was unreviewable

LSU is damn good too
Tulane's a pretty solid team. They'll likely be ranked on sunday or next sunday
The defense doesn't respect the run. Shea has no confidence. The O-line is underperforming.
Exactly, OU, OSU, and LSU are all using transfer QBs and all are very real playoff contenders
Saying Shea isn't a D1 qb is a ridiculous statement.

Defense was fantastic today but it's hard to get Wisconsin out of my head. They came off a bye week and were undisciplined and uninspired.
Alright lets do what we did last drive except the last 4 snaps
Imagine having 7 sacks, 4 turnovers and the offensive talent we have and losing this game 11-10. It's gonna be so pathetic

Edit: Nvm but why is Nordin kicking that?
FUCK
Confidence is a hell of a drug

Is McCaffrey even available?
In fairness it's early for Gattis but Hamilton's offense would be getting much better results right now if he wasn't dumped
With the offense playing as pathetically as they are Iowa just needs one big play and they win
Speed in space is the biggest joke of all time. For the talent on the team the lack of big plays if horrific. Thats why were miles from OSU, PSU and the other good teams outside of the conference.
Now even Klatt is calling out our lack of (deep) balls today
Why do we need gimmicky plays to move the ball against Iowa? We have Nico, DPJ, and Tarik right?
I love killing momentum with negative plays on first down. It's s epic

It was painful. Was just about to say we covered a crosser nicely and then he botches the tackle
Welp
Kwity Paye has been balling out today

And he got spun around and then was playing catch up. Bad call, bad execution, bad result. Unacceptable to lose that much momentum.
Classic Glasgow shitty coverage. nice

24-10 Iowa is what my brain says but I saw 31-13 Michigan somewhere and my heart got attached to that.

Absolutely. Not a good throw but the fact that he took that shot was enough.
