The public announcement of…

The public announcement of the joint advisory group was official confirmation of what many people expected.  Disney and FOX must have or be close to having a plan to having the 2 super conference model put in place.  Time to rip the Band-Aid off and do it, already. Hopefully they have plans in place to handle the chaos of the transfer portal and unfettered NIL.

Agreed.  Just rip the Band-Aid off and get it over with already.  Chip Kelly was right - football should break away from the rest of college athletics and hire its own governance board.  The have not conferences would still be alive.

FWIW...

Looks like there will be some down playing of the situation and we may never get 100 percent word from Michigan. But from everything I have been told. Jace Howard wasn't taking treatment seriously, someone got onto him, Sanderson chimed in, and Juwan confronted him and…

It was Manning's to lose,…

It was Manning's to lose, but as the season progressed it felt more like it would've been awarded to him for his career, not the season.  Woodson had the highlight reel plays (pick against MSU, punt return in The Game) and put his stamp on multiple games on both sides of the ball.

Lighten up, Francis.  I'm…

Lighten up, Francis.  I'm not arguing any of the facts to date, just the timing and incremental severity of the leaks.  It's hard to feel that the NCAA is finding this stuff on the fly and it just happens to drop in time to warrant suspensions and firing before games.  Michigan should be held to account for every violation, but the process has been BS.

The timing and progression…

The timing and progression of all these leaks makes me feel like this is a hit job.  It's way too orchestrated to think anything else.

I've been watching Big Noon…

I've been watching Big Noon Kickoff almost exclusively the past 3-4 years.  It's more B1G centric with fresher faces and they've poached some good talent from ESPN - Rinaldi and Fallica. ESPN had just gotten stale for me.  Lee Corso is a national treasure, but it's hard to watch him struggle.  And after the Thamel nonsense of the past few weeks, it's a slam dunk.

The SEC has an omerta system.

Athletic departments will need to budget an extra $1-2 million for investigation/surveillance teams.

If there was clear evidence…

If there was clear evidence that a rule was broken, Harbaugh would take his medicine and there's no way Ono would defend it.  Petitti is in a tough spot because this ruling sets precedent.  If he doesn't have an airtight case to justify the punishment, it becomes a free for all going forward and he'll be dealing with torch and pitchfork mobs on the regular.  Michigan has to fight this until they can't or until they win.  And as long as the conclusion is justified, Michigan is doing a favor for the rest of the conference because it would only be a matter of time before the mob focused on another school.

Jimmy takes every slight…

Jimmy takes every slight personal and Walters did just that by running his mouth.  They'll cover and hit the over.

I'd like the analysis to…

I'd like the analysis to include a significant number of examples where it appeared that Michigan had the other team's signs because they were sniffing out so many plays.  You'd think that Klatt and other analysts calling games would've at least made an off the cuff comment that Michigan seems like they're a step ahead of the opponent and/or it looks like they have the correct call an inordinate number of times.  I'm not an expert by any means, but I'd think this level of alleged cheating would jump off the screen at least once in a while.  So far it seems like the best evidence anyone has is Stalions standing next to coordinators apparently calling out the opponent's signs.  Which is legal.

Until the B1G and/or NCAA…

Until the B1G and/or NCAA show proof that a rule was broken, Michigan has to tell both to pound sand.  If any punishment is handed down without that, the rest of the B1G programs better have their houses in immaculate order because it's mob rule going forward and the conference is going to become a spy and snitch outfit.

Fair enough.  I've been from…

Fair enough.  I've been from "Michigan's toast" to "it's a giant nothingburger" so much since this broke, I've checked out from the emotion of everything and am just watching the process play out.  All the twists and turns have been insane.  Thanks for the reply. My mogopoints balance doesn't keep me up at night.  I've lurked long enough to see what flies and what doesn't here and didn't think I "crossed the line".  Have a good one.

For those downvoting my reply, I'm curious (nothing more) as to why.

I can't wait to see where this whole saga finally lands (hopefully with all the facts), but right now it seems like it's going to be on par with Watergate.  The twists and turns since this story dropped have been wild.

Sad to see Pat Forde join the clickbait brigade.  SI has apparently morphed into cable news for sports without me noticing until now.

Have we ventured far enough into politics here where the thread gets locked and posters get nuked, put in timeout and/or negged?  Asking for a friend.

I'd love to be in the rooms…

I'd love to be in the rooms when these calls are taking place.  Has to be chaos at times.  ACC deadline to declare for next season is the 15th so I'm guessing there will be some wild swings between now and then.  Sankey mentioned awarding a number one seed in the new CFP to an at large school with all the recent movement.  That definitely plays into ND's decision.  I'd like to see Cal and Stanford to the B1G just for the sake of the non football athletes so they could establish regional divisions to help with travel.

Thanks for the response.  Technical question - is there a way to get notifications when you've been responded to?  Can't find a setting for it and came up dry in the FAQs and Sticky posts.

Upon another review of the thread, I did notice that FieldingBLUE called people "misogynists, homophobes, and racists".  Throwing around slurs like that isn't any more pleasant than comments that went the other way. Why was no action taken against them?

I perused the comments in that post.  Good call all around on the discipline meted out. Hear, hear to rob f!

Tradition wise - it should…

Tradition wise - it should always be the last game.  However, for the sake of trying to avoid a rematch for the title game and the possibility that a team could rest guys with a CG berth locked up, I could see moving it to the 10th game of the year.  Late enough to still have high stakes, back to back games are avoided and last two weeks could be playoff like if either team has to run the table.  I'm guessing with recent and assumed future realignment activity, a rematch becomes less likely as the pool keeps getting deeper.
