I'd love to see what a coach running the option offense could do with elite caliber athletes (as long as we wouldn't have to play them because its so damn hard to defend)
We only have to look across to the Big Ten west to see that Nebraska has lost in heartbreaking fashion multiple times this year. Losing like that sucks, but it happens.
The team has the most competetive coach in America. It'll bounce back, and that bounce back will start in Minnesota
but i have a gut feeling some of the smoke screens (that I know are a check between a run and a pass at the LOS which further cements the stupidity of this thought) will somewhere down the line be used as a throwback to Rudock ala Minnesota 03
that at this point there is a legit number one team. There hasn't been that one team that has just trounced everyone. Its shaping up to be a really interesting year
Makes me wonder that if Michigan continues to struggle with man blocking, would the staff switch to a more zone based scheme? I know the O-line had success with it last year
But like Harbaugh said in his postgame presser, its execution that needs fixing. We were a hair off on the deep shots, the line would create some holes and get blown up on other plays, and a couple of the INT's were the fault of a freshman and a 5th year walk-on not being exactly on the same page.
Its clear to me at least that Rudock is still the best option, and hopefully we can use Oregon State and UNLV as tuneup for what should be a tough BYU team.
Did anyone get a good look at Oregon State? i looked at the final score and saw that their QB rushed for 152 yards, and their defense didn't allow a point. Any cause for concern there?
Wide Recievers looked better. Darboh looked strong on the bubble screens, Grant Perry, aside from the ints thrown in his direction was a great asset as a blocker, and Chesson looks like a deep threat who just needs to get a downfield pass connected with him
Butt was awesome, will probably lead the team in most receiving categories
Jordan Lewis was shutdown
Peppers really improved in the 2nd half, and the one time he played kick returner he looked good doing it
Oline pass protection didn't give up any sacks (to my knowledge)
Blake O'Neill look good at punts
Dline, especially Chris Wormley were very good, they stuffed a very good running back most of the game.
Down-
Oline run blocking and rb vision was a major disappointment. There are times there would be holes and Smith would just miss them horribly and there were times the RB's were getting smashed in the backfield. Especially disappointed by the 4th and 1 stuff late in the game
Linebackers missed way too many tackles, and were unable to bring down checkdown throws to Booker which killed us
I've actually watched a lot of Iowa play (why I don't know) so I was very frustrated with Rudocks play. He had struggles connecting with the deep ball there, but the INT's were just killer. I didn't expect them at all. I think he can play much better than what we saw last night.
Defense has to force more turnovers as well, it sucks we couldn't recover that late Wilson fumble.
Overall there's obviously a lot to improve, but i was pleased that the team didin't keel over and die after being down 17-3 and 24-10. They showed a lot of fight and i'm very excited to see how they can improve throughout the year
is the amount of 2 and 3 star guys turned into high draft picks. Knowing how many 4-5 star guys Michigan recruited under Hoke who haven't lived up to their potential gives me hope for a quick turnaround this year and the next.

why the Playoff semifinals are played on New Year's Eve this year...
I loved last year watching a slate of New Years Day bowl games leading up to the playoff games
To me it seems pretty anticlimactic in terms of a whole viewing experience to get the playoff games before New Years Day
Sione Houma and his beautiful flow
Seeing him and Joe Kerridge rumble down the field on traps and dives has been a lot of fun
Absolutely incredible that we are in the position. 9-2 and 1 win away in the greatest rivalry in sports from a trip to the big ten championship
Go blue. Beat Ohio
Wilton Speight's reaction after throwing the TD. Get's me pumped!

I hope It will be because the defenses are actually good this year instead of each offense being so incompetent

hunt best
God damn i love the defense
All 4 Pick a Michigan win
Lets get it!
NTOSU goes up the gut of the Stanford D and ties it 14-14
8000 yards at 70 touchdowns in the coming week
8000 yards at 70 touchdowns in the coming week
become more dominant as the game wore on. Now I eagerly await the first downfield connection of the season and the offense can truly begin to click
At the center of the pregame pump up circle?
He'll turn them into fighters. This team will be as tough as nails by the end of the season regardless of the final record
I like that guy give the ball to that guy and block for him
just got home from work and saw the score was 17-7
actual football talk more than hearing someone talk about hearing football.
The biggest thing from this is that I actually believe in this staff's ability to fix the mistakes that we're made, and improve from week to week
the "freeze" punt by O'Neill
17 tackles and 2 pick 6's
His o-line has gotten him absolutely killed and its only against Temple.
Tied 10-10, Hackenberg with just 59 yards passing midway through the 3rd
Tied 10-10, Hackenberg with just 59 yards passing midway through the 3rd
An Al Borgian play call. Just foolish
That seems rather anticlimactic. I loved last year where new years day bowls led up to the Semifinals, but any college football is good
I think PSU's starting MLB went out with a knee injury
Hackenberg sacked for the 4th time, good and bad news
Makes me wonder that if Michigan continues to struggle with man blocking, would the staff switch to a more zone based scheme? I know the O-line had success with it last year
.......
Hill slices Nebraska up through the air and finishes it with his legs
He looks healthy and hasn't had to run much but when he does its obvious he's good at it
Westerkamp!
2 that are 6'5 or bigger? yeesh
17-6 a minute and a half before halftime
for being stuck in one foot deep snow without a fully packed lunchbox
I want to kick a puppy
And then when any team punts from inside the 40 and it rolls into the endzone I want to do the same
everybody loves the big hits but its also nice to just get a guy on the ground
It always amazes me how major college teams can have trouble with tackling when its such a huge part of the game
looks awful . David Shaw has been a lackluster play caller the past couple years
NW qb has looked good at least
with all the reverses and throwback passes

It may not be there in week one, but when the O-Line begins to punish people then i'll have a big smile on my face

I think Kerridge could get himself a couple of goal line rushing td's
Owen Marecic pounded out 9 TD's from 09-10 for Stanford so it wouldn't suprise me at all to see Kerridge get a dive or two in the year
