If someone is smart enough to realize that they can get and stay ahead through acquiring the right friends, identify those people, and then execute that plan. Further realizing that this will yield them every bit as much success as other, potentially more rigorous avenues, this at least implies some sort of mental talents. I don't believe that genuinly stupid people are capable of this sort of thing.
NOTE: I don't give a shit about Gene Smith or Mark Hollis, my comments are relating to the academic nature of this discussion.
When the day comes that a kid decommits, goes on a non-michigan visit and then recommits right after with that recommitment being uncondionally accepted by the coaching staff will I believe that there is nothing more than meets the eye to the coaches stated policy on recruits taking visits.
Let's be honest with ourselves. When the coaches say that recruits who take visits aren't allowed to be committed do you honestly believe that under normal circumstances that they would allow them to come back around months later and recommit. I'll believe it when it happens and so far it has not.
These tactics are ESSENTIALLY the same thing. I don't blame the coaches for it, they have a job to do and do it well. But don't act as though our coaches and Ohio coaches are playing by a different set of rules. It's naive at best and disingenuos at worst.
De la Salle is NOT fucking Cranbrook Academy or DCD. This isn't some 25-30 K a year elite academy where the future Mitt Romney's and Steve Balmer's are going to school. De La Salle is a low end, low budget private school where most of the families are working class.
At the same time, Detroit King is a shit hole. You could completely revamp the ethnic make-up of the student body and the chants from the DLS students would still make sense.
At the end of the day it's all just hating on those who are in a worse situation than yourselves, honestly the racially charged bit is more the icing on the cake than the cake itself.
In any event, I just think it's sanctimonious for Michigan fans to act all up in arms about this when they themselves disparage other teams fans for perhaps being in a worse situation then themselves.
How is this any different from when we yell similar things to Sparty fans? Kids from a better school say this type of things to students from worse schools all the time how is it that all of a sudden it is racist THIS time?

My opinion is that Gedeon is actually the best prototype for a LB out of all of them from a physicality, mentality, and athleticism standpoint. He has the highest ceiling of any of them yet some of the others are more ready right now. I think Gedeon is my first choice at this point, he is this years Joe Bolden i.e. the guy who had potential, people didn't really see him coming and by the time high school was over nobody understood how he flew under the radar for so long.
We may wish it quietly in our heart of hearts but the phase "Go Bucks" should never echo in these hallowed halls. I feel a filth that no shower can wash off.
It sounds like he is alluding to doing so well that he leaves early. He probably isn't aware of the fact that guys leave early for reasons other than being a boss at their position. Not that he is dying to get to the NFL as soon as possible, just that everything works out for the best. I can't blame him for that.
I hope that he is that good and honestly, if we go 3-0 over the next 3 years vs. Ohio, and he is a part of the reason why, guy can do pretty much whatever he wants and still be a G in my eyes,
It's possible that he has received some bad news concerning his draft stock, who wants him, when they'll take him, and what his compensation package will look like.
I agree that it seems out of character for him to kind of fly off the handle like this and it certainly won't help him in the eyes of potential teams.
Not to mention that NFL teams might see this as a potential locker room problem waiting to happen. Which is funny since we know what a great locker room guy he was at Michigan but still, these types of comments engender that type of cognitive response.
in a national sense the Ohio football game will ALWAYS be bigger.
Now I don't mean to single any one person out but I keep hearing about how "Michigan State is set to take a drop". How, exactly are they set to take a drop? Because we are outrecruiting them? We always have though, they are getting the same scrubs now that they've been winning with for the past several years, 2 and 3 stars that somehow everyone else missed. It's not as though they started getting better recruits and now they aren't, they never got the highly rated guys. I'm sorry to be harping on this but until we beat them I don't want to hear about how they are "set to take a drop" until the so called drop actually occurs.
If anything, wins in the near future against Sparty will come as a result of Michigan coming back, not because they "took a drop". I don't think I'm alone in saying the latter scenario would leave one somewhat wanting.
Not sure what it is, might be his big head or how mean he looks but I just want Eddie Vanderdoes on our squad. He just looks like a such a mean mean man I can't imagine how terrified opposing QB's would be with a senior Pipkins lined up alongside a junior Vanderdoes.
Plus he is from the mountains so you know he's a wild man.
This is what I like to see and we all knew would be the true gauge of Hoke's ability to recruit against The Urban Myth. Word is clearly out on both men, one of honor and integrity, the other a snake oil selling liar.
This has to be the best day in the history of Michigan football recruiting. Didn't think it possible, but this year is getting off to a better start than the last.
All the majors have him as being a consensus 4 star SDE but we got him as a running back? Maybe they see him as being a FB at the next level. That would be awesome if we had a sweet FB
They are basically guaranteed that if they offer a Texas kid they will commit right then and there. The stories about kids commiting en mass at junior day the moment they receive their offers is legendary. I can't think of anywhere else that has such a privilege
Because I believe that it's either going to be a Bama blow out or a close Michigan Win. No in between. Either way, I'll have somthing to hang my hat on.
Not sure if you'd call that a "pipeline" per se. In any event, they've been doing okay with that level of talent and still, doing so is the exception rather than the rule.
Nebraska over the past 10 years or so has been recruiting about the same level as MSU but out of Texas. Now even that will dry up as that talent will end up at up and coming schools down that way such as TCU and Houston since those schools still play their games in in the south central United States unlike Nebraska.
In any event I'm assuming what you mean is that in the choice of "Michigan State or noone" you'd choose "no one" since you clearly don't think that Michigan State will be very competitive going forward.
Please, if it's not Michigan State then it's no one. Nebraska's days of being a perennial powerhouse are over and it's only going to get worse as their Texas pipeline dries up over time (which it will since they don't regularly play any teams from down that way any more)
I just don't know what blows my mind more, the fact that this is the second big public mess up by this supposedly master craft snake oil salesman or that the OSU fanbase seems to, for the most part, be rebelling against this type of talk.
Good, let him continue this bullshit. LEt recruits see that he is a cold, heartless B. And let them see that at UofM it's about family and value and that Hoke is true to those ideals.
He wanted to get a re-match before GSP comes back because he knows that a title bout between GSP and Condit will be the biggest disaster ever. GSP lying on the ground and Condit running away...what a fight.
Regardless of personal politics on the subject of marijuana's legal status, For Diaz to have decided it was okay to use a banned substance close enough to such a big fight for it to register on a test is absolutely inexcusable.
The conspiracu theorist in me thinks that it had something to do with him announcing his
retirement" after the fight. As if he knew he was dirty and thought that somehow, announcing a retirement would give pause to the testers.
and part of a CEO's job is to tell your shareholder's what they want to hear when you have the luxury of doing so. Hoke does it for us and he does it for his mongrols. it's just part of the gig.
But let's face it, this board wouldn't commend Urban Meyer if he ran into a burning building to save stranded children, much less kick a renegade player off the team.

I would absolutely take this class.

destroyt the best womens college team in the country 10 out of 10 times.
They only got caught because the money jar was still full at the end of the season,

John Belien, creator of great fathers, great husbands, politicians, etc. What? So now Belien is a family counselor, Jalen? Good God.
Dymonte is a Michigan Man and knows it. I have as much faith that he is blue as I do in Suger Shane and thats saying something.

...and so are these awesome, awesome posts. Good Lord, life is good.
So basically what they are saying is that they want to keep the artifact of the kickoff but want to all but eliminate the kick return?
Not entirely upset about this, not super happy either though.

Wolverines better get their asses in gear because the MO is going NW's way right now. Not looking good.
I mean, talk about all athletic ability and no brains.
