Staying in Santa Monica and… Staying in Santa Monica and went to Universal studios today. I've seen hundreds of Michigan fans and maybe 5 Bama fans over the two days.
My family and I are staying…

My family and I are staying in Santa Monica for our trip out. Reserved parking passes for the golf course on game day. Question for any LA locals or Rose Bowl vets.

What time would you recommend departing Santa Monica on game day to allow time for a 3 hour tailgate on game day?

That analysis of play…

That analysis of play calling is a shade worse that my wife who watches about 30 snaps of football a year. The old "run it up the middle commentary."

What run scheme specifically did you take issue with? Which sets vs which look? What would you have done different? Why?

And regarding the quick…

And regarding the quick screens and slants. What formation do you want to see that out of? What look were they giving us consistently out of that set? Why is that a good call?

What's our effectiveness running quick screens on the season? How well have you seen Shea read quick game thus far?

What edge plays do you want to see? What formation & personnel? What look were they giving us out of those sets?

In the game how many times did we run Power? It wasn't many. Check the film.

Quick slants, screens, and…

Quick slants, screens, and edge plays huh. That's how you call a game. It's that easy.

What was poor about the play…

What was poor about the play calling? What would you have called instead? What are the mechanics of calling a play?

I actually agree with this…

I actually agree with this. He's a ways away from being fully programmed as a QB. Makes some horrible decisions pre snap due to playing in a hairy HS offense at Ole Miss.

Additionally, he makes some great throws but also throws 3-4 ducks per game. Bad measureables and average decision maker doesn't equal 1st Round draft pick.

Probably 10-15 QB's better than him throughout the nation point in time. That being said I love that he's our QB right now and we will probably get 2 years out of him.

They have 18 scholoarship OL…

They have 18 scholoarship OL, MI has 13.  That's the problem. Everybody on here wants to sign big time OL.  No position busts more often in recruiting than OL.  Most elite teams carry 18-20 scholarship OL.  That's why we cannot redshirt anyone.

Runyan obviously didn't…

Runyan obviously didn't dominate but a lot of the flack he is taking is unfair.

Two perfect examples are the sack on Power Pass at the goaline and the strip sack to end the game.

On the power pass Higdon isn't agressive enough attacking the DE, doesn't allow a window for Shea to get the ball to Mason on the now throw. Down there that's all you have on that play, it's a dick em. If he attacks the DE it's an easy 6 to Mason. When Shea gets pressure that ball needs to end up in the stands because the play is dead if you don't hit the now.

On the final play ND runs a 3 man twist. Ruiz fails to bump Bredeson because he gets no depth in his set. Once that bump is missed Bredeson can't bump Runyan. Runyan has no idea the nose is looping because of Ruiz's set.

Bottom line the whole unit needs to get better, but go back and look at any offense over the weekend that faced a Top 15 team. It's a sprint to the QB damn near every snap. Everything speeds up and your QB better get the ball out on time.

Also upon rewatch it was really disappointing how many times we ran the ball into 7 man boxes out of open sets with Screens & RPO's attached. That's always going to be tough sledding. Blocking 6 on 7.

Not making any apologies but the whole offensive unit needs to get better. Here is to a better showing vs a CPL cupcakes before a moderate test vs Northwestern.

How can you not say the play…

How can you not say the play calling was a fail? We averaged 4.4 yds per play against a 40th ranked defense.

The one glaring fact is Harbaugh has no f'ing clue what to do out of the spread. All you fans clamoring for it, here is your showcase. It will look like this for the rest of the year and we will go 8-4 again.

#1 failure in leadership is losing your identity. Jim has lost his. Do what you do and be better than anyone else doing it. How bout that?

I'd give him a Success…

I'd give him a Success-incomplete grade right now.

First three years he is 4-8 vs good/great competition (OSU, MSU, Wisky, PSU, FSU). All but one of the 8 losses was winnable (OSU '15). That speaks to how close Michigan is as a program, but also speaks to it's current inability to get over the hump. 24-3 vs everyone else shows Michigan is a good program once again.

If he can go 3-2 this year in the good/great matchups (OSU, MSU, Wisky, PSU, ND) bringing his record to 7-10 in those matchups I think we can call things a success through 4 years considering the state of the program at his arrival.

Should Michigan go 0-5 or 1-4 through that stretch I think his seat has to at least get mildly warm. 2019 would be a big year to prove his metal should that happen. Regardless the program is in a much better position than it was in December of 14.

You do realize I included…

You do realize I included MSU and Wisky as well who run pro style offenses and have been Top 10 programs for over a decade consistently recruiting around ~25 to ~40 in the composite. You can also throw in Stanford if you'd like another example.

That's 3 of the top 10 teams for a decade that have been outside the Top 20 recruiting and still get it done.

HHW, Jameson Caskmates isn't HHW, Jameson Caskmates isn't burbon. It's Irish Whiskey and is decent. Redbreast 12 is probably my favorite everyday drinker for Irish Whiskey and I drink a lot of it. $70-80 a liter. Very smooth. If you want to splurge on an elite whiskey sometime try Redbreast 21.
Angels Envy is probably my Angels Envy is probably my favorite domestic everyday drinker whiskey and it's $40ish a liter. I am an Irish Whiskey guy personally and like my Whiskey smooth. Angels Envy is definitely smooth and can be drank neat or with a little ice.
If you got some time you should add these guys. List is missing 6 elite coaches from the last 20 years. Wonder how their additions would skew the numbers. Larger sample size is better obviously. USC Pete Carroll-inherited dumpster fire Oklahoma Bob Stoops-inherited dumpster fire Texas Mack Brown-inherited dumpster fire Oregon Chip Kelly-inherited elite LSU Les Miles-inherited elite Stanford Harbaugh-inherrited dumpster fire
Morris Doubts Believe me I have huge doubt's about Morris, but he is the best we will have for the next two years. Harbaugh made A. Smith serviceable and I think/hope he can with Morris or Speight. On Frosh Qb's, Forcier was horrendous but had just enough moxy to eek a couple wins out. Chad H. was one of the anomalies. Remember how awful Drew was as a Frosh? He had more talent then any true freshman QB I can recall at Mich. My hope is Harbaugh can develop Morris into an adequate game manager like Sark has done with Kessler at USC. If he can do that we can get back to 9 & 10 win seasons the next two years and hand the keys to the throne to a groomed stud QB in 2017.
I agree completely with QB I agree completely with QB being a huge priority, but unfortunately our starting QB for 2015 & probably 2016 is currently sitting on our roster (Morris). Starting true freshman at QB is an absolute disaster in almost all instances. I see Michigan recruiting one top 5-10 QB per class the next 3 years. Beyond that Harbaugh has always loved length. By recruiting 4-6 TE's each class and a ton of DE's he got athletic pieces that could become OT's and DT's. He also found great special team pieces. What I think will be really interesting is if he uses this philosophy at Michigan. At Stanford he had to be more creative to get the right pieces in place. With the prestige of Michigan he probably will not have to be as creative, but will that be better?
He Loved Tight Ends at The Farm I had the pleasure of coaching against and witnessing Jim first hand while in the PAC-10. In my opinion what made him great was his ability to mix personnel packages better then anyone. As a staff we looked at his first couple Stanford classes and joked about WTF he was doing recruiting 4-6 TE's per recruiting class. We found out in a major way when he would put 1 RB, 3 TE's and 1 WR on the field and hammer our ass in a big set. Very next snap he would use the same personnel, come out in empty and gut you down the field against your heavy defense. It was a thing of beauty to watch. As a life long Michigan fan I am ecstatic to have him home!
