Best thing to do is get an adapter to connect the hard drive as an external drive to another computer and mount it via USB and see if you can access the files. Or try to boot your computer for an external USB drive and see if you can mount and access the HD from there. If it's a mac, you can try to boot your computer as an external hard drive and connect it to another mac via USB (target disk mode).

I'm admittly very novice at iPhone coding but I've built a few apps and this one should be pretty straighforward to update!

I'm not a runner, so I don't have a suggestion on where to run exactly, but downtown probably isn't a great option. The subway can easily take you to Hollywood or los Feliz, where people run a lot. It was me and a ton of athletes. Not only did I take it pass/fail, but your grade was based on a single paper that you could rewrite as many times as you wanted if you weren't happy with your grade.
