Funnily enough, that's the one MGoBlogism my post didn't include. Thanks for the idea though, I'll keep that in mind for next time! /s

Probably should delete my MGoBlog account after this, lol.

It just pisses me off so much when people do this and I didn't have anywhere else to post this. I legit don't know any other place to find the scores of earlier games and I wanted to compile a lot of the stats from the data.

Georgia player probably told Hudson that Harbaugh's blocking of of the transfer waiver was about as existent as Hudson's blocking in this game

At this point, it's…

At this point, it's impossible for me to by anything worse than disappointed by the outcome of this game, with or without these 10 Wisconsin players being able to suit up. My expectations are so low, they're next to friggin' dinosaur bones. I hate that I'll still end up watching the game as I am terribly busy tomorrow and already have a new Saturday hobby to fill the rest of this season (and probably beyond). Why can't I stop subjecting myself to this?

Not what I'd say, but how it…

Not what I'd say, but how it would probably go down IRL:

Warde: Jim, take a seat.

Jim: Is something wrong?

Warde: This is hard for me to say, Jim. I've known you for so long.

Jim: Um, what? Where is this going?

Warde: Jim, you've always been there for me... I need you man.

*Warde Manuel breaks down into tears*

Jim: I don't have time for this crap! I've got a team to coach; we might finish 1-7.

Warde: I don't want things to end this way.

Jim: What are you doing, trying to fire me?

Warde: No, that's not it...

Jim: Are you drunk again?

Warde: Not this time *wipes tears and looks deeply into Jim's eyes*

Jim: Um, what are you doing?

Warde: I love you, man...

Jim: I don't have time for this nonsense! *starts walking out door*

Warde: Wait!

Jim: *stops in doorway* Yes?

Warde: You're staying, right?

Jim: Yeah, just don't bother me anymore! *slams door*

*Warde cries tears of relief into his desk*

*Luke Fickell pops up behind the potted plant*

Fickell: Damn it! Passed over for another blue blood coaching job!

I've been nervous about Minnesota all week, but I've started to relax by thinking that no matter what happens in Minneapolis tonight, at least we can take Little Bro to the woodshed next Saturday!

I remember last season when…

I remember last season when Ruiz got hurt early during a drive in the second quarter of the MSU game and Vastardis took over at center. It was the 90+ yard drive that ended in a TD that broke open the 7-7 tie. I was worried when the injury happened as Ruiz was the anchor of our line and the most talented. Obviously there were 3 other draftees (+ upcoming draftee Mayfield) around Vastardis on the line for the remainder of the drive, but he played really well and was able to help us in the most pivotal possession of the game. Ever since then, I haven't had any doubts that if we needed him as a starter, he'd be able to step up and do the job. I'm excited to see that both he and Hayes are starters!

I disagree slightly with…

I disagree slightly with Franklin has been more successful at PSU than Harbaugh has at Michigan. In terms of Big Ten titles, yeah, but Michigan has been in position going into the OSU game to go to the Big Ten Championship Game more often than PSU has under James Franklin going into the last week of the season.

Franklin's 11 win seasons are also partially the benefit of playing Ohio State earlier in the season. A lot of times, Michigan loses their bowl games due to the sour taste after losing to Ohio State, but PSU is given time to right the ship and carry momentum into their bowl game.

Also, despite the two NY6 wins by Franklin and Co., both seem fairly hollow as one was against a Group of 5 team and one was against a Washington team that didn't even make the PAC-12 title game. Also, Franklin has a loss in the Rose Bowl against a USC team that didn't make the PAC-12 title game the same year PSU won the Big Ten. Obviously, this is more than what Michigan has under Harbaugh, but this is really just an exercise in saying the success is less than it appears.

Also, on the point that PSU plays OSU closer than Michigan and has a win against them, it's common knowledge that OSU puts their all into their game with us. Not saying they don't respect PSU, but they give much more preparation and focus during the Michigan game.

At this point, it does seem as though PSU has an edge with Franklin over Harbaugh at Michigan, so this is where I put out the big points. It's said to death obviously, but Harbaugh does have the advantage in head to head matchups. However, that doesn't tell the full story. Not only does Harbaugh have a slight 3-2 head to head, but it must be noted that 3 of those games were in Happy Valley and were Whiteout Games. Harbaugh has beaten Franklin in Happy Valley (during the 2015 Whiteout) and came very close to winning this year, whereas Franklin's closest effort in Ann Arbor was a 35 point demolition in 2018 where PSU scored their only points in the final two minutes of the game. In terms of MOV, Harbaugh crushes Franklin with a +50 point margin despite a majority of the games being at Penn State (and during Whiteout games, no less).

But even with everything said before, with the information above, I'd still lean to Franklin being more successful. So, why don't I believe this? This is due to a point that I have not seen brought up, so let me share it with you. The four best teams in the Big Ten East in the Harbaugh era are clearly Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Michigan State. So, how does each team compare with the other three? In Franklin's case, he is a combined 5-13 in six years against Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State with losing records against each of them (2-4, 2-4, and 1-5 respectively). Note that only one of those wins was on the road and it was against Michigan State this past year (Franklin's 6th year as head coach). That's a win percentage of roughly 27.78% against the upper half of the teams in their division. I need not say how low that is because each of Michigan State, Michigan, and Ohio State have higher percentages. In Harbaugh's case, he is a combined 6-9 in five years against Penn State, Michigan State, and Ohio State (3-2, 3-2, 0-5 respectively). That's a win percentage of 40% and winning records against two of those three teams. Not to mention, in both the case of Penn State and Michigan State, Harbaugh has beaten them both on the road as well as at home. While Harbaugh's win percentage against this upper level competition may be disappointing he both has a higher win percentage and more overall wins than Franklin does with one less year of coaching the Big Ten. Not to mention, only one of those years did Jim Harbaugh go 0-3 against the three of them (2017). In Franklin's case, he has gone 0-3 three times against the other top level teams (2014, 2015, 2018).

After all of this, this is why I believe Coach Harbaugh is better and more successful (albeit, only slightly) than James Franklin. Franklin's a good coach and he and JIm Harbaugh are on the same tier, so I don't mean any disrespect to him. This is my reasoning and I understand if you disagree, but this is how I feel.

Honestly, I saw watched his press conference and saw a level of humility and good sportsmanship that Mork never had. If I had to choose between losing to a Mel Tucker MSU or a Mork D'Antoni MSU, I would choose the Mel Tucker MSU in a heartbeat. That being said, who knows how much different he may be if/when he beats us for the first time.

It's important to note that this was roughly 15 years before Don Canham was our AD. Canham really changed the perception of what a Michigan football game was for the fans. Before he was AD, a Michigan game was more like how these photos illustrate, but after, it became the tailgating family fun experience that it more or less is today.

It's funny that, at the time…

It's funny that, at the time, the UNC win seemed monumental and the Creighton win was just like, "oh yeah, another pretty decent win."

At this point, I just want to get to the tournament. If some of our guys are off, as long as we win (no matter the margin to be honest), I'm fine with it. Sure, he could've done better with shot selection and finishing, but I think he'll get his groove back soon. As long as our team has each other's backs and can pick up ground if one of them is having an off day, it'll all work itself out.
