Tom Crean was willing to take them if Harbaugh didn’t I believe

Agreed here, you can knock…

Agreed here, you can knock out a few real nice courses in the Ann Arbor area with the University Course at UofM, Eagle Crest at EMU, and Leslie Park (all these are reasonably priced, no range at UofM and free range at EMU).  Calderone Golf Club in Jackson is nice and surprisingly cheap as well.

If in the Lansing area, Forest Akers (MSU's course) is good, then Eagle Eye and Hawk Hollow real close in Bath, MI.

We recently did a stay-and-play out of Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant.  I think price was around $600 for 2 nights and 3 rounds at Tullymore, St. Ives and Bucks Run.  Loved all the courses, Buck's Run was a favorite.  Pohlcat is also up there which has ties to Dan Pohl from Mt. Pleasant who played on the PGA and Champions tour.

If up in the Boyne or Boyne Highlands area, all those courses are superb and looked after well.  Monument and Alpine at the Mountain with Dunmaglas right down the road in Charlevoix. Crooked Tree and Bay Harbor courses right in Petoskey and the Highlands has 4 courses with Don Ross, Moor, Arthur Hills and The Heather.  If you like "historic" courses, Belvedere is fairly close and is consistently ranked in the Top 15 for Michigan, although I think that ranking is purely based on the history of the course.

Gaylord with all the Treetop courses are great.

Dream and Nightmare right by westbranch also great courses that are BYOB that you can hit on the way up or down from the more northern courses.

Shanty Creek has 4 or 5 solid courses and isn't too far from Wolverine or The Bear, which are both fantastic.

Garland resort is nice, it has 4 or 5 courses on the property and you can get a cabin.  The courses, IMO, pale in comparison to all the above tho.

Gonna be a nice/crazy finish

Shocked they didn’t do the…

Shocked they didn’t do the bagged wall clock in Seinfeld, hilarious.

Should have had someone in…

Should have had someone in the art dept. do a visual rendition of the quote.  A baby in Day’s likeness on actual third base perhaps.

Not sure if it’s the same…

Not sure if it’s the same concept, but Peyton and Eli on MNF were talking about fielding a snap in rain under center is more difficult than in a shotgun.  It could explain a little, maybe

I think most everyone here…

I think most everyone here is not an aspiring tour pro so tips that help, or are under, you are most likely completely different from most of us plebs. I do agree with much of what you said in regard to angle of attack, club path, but probably a bit much for your weekend golfer to grasp, learn and implement.

A lot of the tips you disregard posted here will help the AVERAGE golfer.

Is this a golf tip or pet…

Is this a golf tip or pet peeve thread?

Tip—-I’m a 6 hdcp but always struggled with greenside bunkers (the dreaded skull).  Saw a YouTube video from a Euro Tour pro (can’t recall name of player or find video). Basically open your stance so the front foot is almost pointed at the hole, feel about 70% weight on the front foot, open club face a tad and swing away.  In practice it helps to draw a line an inch or so behind the ball and practice hitting down on that line.

Peeve—-other golfers hitting your ball or picking it up.  If you see a ball in the playing area that isn’t yours, just leave it. Happened to me 3x this year and I use a sharpie to mark my ball.  So annoying

Love this, favorite course…

Love this, favorite course to play is UofM.  Only get out there a few times a year, but it tests every club in the bag and nothing beats a post-round Maize n Blue run.

favorite course up north to play has to be Dunmaglas.  Just a hidden gem in Charlevoix overlooking the lake.

best course played—forest dunes or Arcadia  but have a bachelor party at whistling straits a month before the Ryder cup, I imagine that’ll take the cake despite the abuse the course will give us.

New sport, same result. I…

New sport, same result. I skied competitively in HS/College through USSA. Your skill level is reflected by a point system like a golf hcp.  Olympic skiers are around 0 points, but you’re pretty good if you have around 80 points (sorry for the preamble).  Every year USSA holds the Lutsen Spring Series which is a party for the Olympic skiers and a good opportunity for mortals to improve their points.

Regardless, these Olympic athletes are just built differently.  Tree trunks for legs and just solid.  None are trying (it is kind of the pull for younger racers to improve their points), but they’re still beating everyone by like 10 seconds on a 50 second course, which is more than a mile. Crazy to not just be in awe of what they can do.

very cool race, most the pros sell their old race gear very cheap and are genuinely nice people and happy to race for the younger generation. 34 now but some of the pros that would go are Chip Knight, Shiffrin, Mancuso, Schlepper among others.

Much appreciated, first…

Much appreciated, first child and he’s enjoying mom and dad working from home for the time being.

Fortunately or not our son…

Fortunately or not our son was born on 2/27/20 at St Joe AA. We made the concerted effort to try and watch UofM v Wisconsin in our room prior to any sort of “push.” Needless to say we lost and he was born shortly thereafter. It’ll always be a nice birth story, but makes me seriously detest Wisconsin bball.

Vampire Weekend is and has…

Vampire Weekend is and has been my favorite band to listen to since seeing them at lollapalooza in 09’ or 10’.  Seen them live 3x, all were excellent shows and was super bummed in receiving my refund for their cancelled show this fall.

They have a pretty unique sound and do not mind mixing in all sorts of different instruments. I could listen to any of their albums start to finish and be happy.

^ this...the difference… ^ this...the difference between private insurance and PIP is astronomical. God forbid you or a family member has a debilitating injury in a vehicle, but if they do, PIP IS #1. First hand experience, my brother broke his neck diving in a lake and out-of-pocket was insane for my dad/family (He was a dependent and my dad had very good insurance through his job, didn’t matter). If he had been injured in a vehicle accident we would have paid close to nothing in comparison—-my other bro had a thread regarding the injury back in 2015, and as an update, the injured brother is an all star who graduated top-class at Ross and is currently finishing his full-ride scholly at WSU law school. It’s likely you’ll never be severely injured in a vehicle, but you and your family will at least have some peace of mind if an injury does occur and you don’t opt out.
my 3 Bros and I were lucky…

my 3 Bros and I were lucky enough to go to many Detroit and UM games, but here are a few:

1.) 1995 UM v OSU sat with my dad in his season tickets he still holds to this day Sec 11 Row 45.  One of the best games and one of my earliest UM football memories.

2.) 2013 UM v Az b-ball.  Not the result we had hoped for, but my mom surprised me and my brothers with tickets as cancer was winning her battle.  She passed about 3 weeks later, but a game and memory that will live with me and my bro’s forever.

3.) UM home football games until about 2000 when I got too old to solicit autographs from the players. I don’t recall many of the actual games, but it was always exciting and memorable waiting outside the tunnels to get a program or football signed by the players.  I still have the vast majority of the signed stuff from 1992-2000

Lakeland high school 2002-05…

Lakeland high school 2002-05, the seniors my freshmen year didn’t win a game and my class won around 4 in four years, so we were pretty awful. Our cross-town “rival” was Milford who routinely stomped us with Jim Presley, UM 4* recruit who couldn’t make it in class.  He was a monster though.

Not stupid, I didn’t know…

Not stupid, I didn’t know luffa was a plant until 3 years ago.  You can eat immature luffa and it’s kind of like a cucumber.  I have a grown luffa one the shower, but we love them for cleaning/scrubbing in the bathroom or kitchen.

ive been curious about gherkins, are they like a berry or do you cook with them?

Everyday reader, first-time…

Everyday reader, first-time poster (came for greens).  Northern Oakland county on 2 acres, we have 4 raised beds that are fenced from deer, etc. The kale, lettuce, spinach, broccoli, beets, carrots, chard and perennial herbs are out growing now.  The peppers, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, pumpkin, melons, eggplant, tomatillos are in various windows waiting for warmer weather. Blueberry, blackberry and strawberry all planted last year, hoping for fruit this year.

favorite plant to grow is the luffa, wild cucumber-like grower whose vines can be trained around most anything (we plan on training them around the pool deck this season).  Extremely satisfying harvesting the luffas in October (tough to grow in MI as they like the warmer zones).
