I thought the block in the back was a maybe because he didn't block him that much, just prevented him from turning around. However, look at the crazy hold on Rashan Gary (I think it's Gary, the one who took down the QB). I don't know how that was missed as it was happening while he was tackling the quarterback. I saw this live and was already getting mad at how little our opponents get called for holding when they hold us half the time.
Lame! I was hoping the season would still be going on in two months when I am going to be in Japan. It would be fun to hit up one of Gardner's games decked out it M gear.
One and done's don't want to go to a school that's actually going to be difficult. They want to make the schooling part of their one year as easy as possible. Belein isn't the type of coach who's going to create fake classes or call a professor to give someone a grade they don't deserve. We won't get the kind of player who doesn't also want to "play school" at least a little.
Football is a bit different because of how few one and dones are. It's more likely a three and done, and it's possible to get a degree in that time if you wanted.
One thing I noticed as a trend all game is half of OSU's spots were about a yard further than I thought they were and half of ours a yard behind where I thought they should be. I think the spot would be another easy point of analysis as it's basically free yards.
I was just using this as an example. It happened on at least 3 of their touchdowns as well. One of their TDs I counted 3 missed holding calls, two on the same player! It looked like this:
And I'm not trying to be biased, I threw my hands up in the air saying we were going to lose 10 yards on offense only to see the flags stay in the refs pockets all the time during this game too.
I understand that holding is a really hit or miss call and you could probably find one in every play, but I felt like the entire game I was yelling holding on a key player that should have been there to make the play and couldn't because of the hold. What bothers me the most about this is that "fact" about the number of holding calls against OSU over the past several years. I don't know how true it is, but I only remember two holding calls in this game (one against each team) and there were so many in both directions. Maybe the refs were just trying to make it even?
I mean, look at the wide receiver holding... Peppers? I can't see who it is, but on the far left of this gif.
As someone who moved to Raleigh a few years ago, it was great to have Michigan actually make it to this area for once. I was glad to finally be able to go to a game!
You specifically call out Michigan holding, but the refs were missing it both ways. This is one of the few games this season that I thought the reffing wasn't favored against us, so at least we had that going for us, but it felt like the refs were just holding in the flags for this game. I saw Harbaugh and staff giving the holding signal on the sidelines every other play too.
Can't complain about it much because it was clearly missed on both sides of the field. I'm glad they were at least consistent this week.
> "He said, 'Dad, you're not watching this? He broke your record!' I said, 'Records are meant to be broken, son.' I went back to bed, and he was shaking his head."
I'm not sure if you're joking, but if you took that same sticker from your first picture and put it on the same side of the helmet as your second picture, it would be facing forward.
If Peppers turns his head to look at the ball, I don't think he gets the PI. The problem was that he had his hat facing the receiver and never turned to look at the ball.

That's pretty disappointing that someone whose job is to handle the social media is falling for phishing scams. It's pretty well established that no company will ever ask you for your name and password in an email or messenger app. It's also not that hard to check a URL before you click it.
And to top it off, our QB was playing on a clearly injurred foot. I'd much rather have the game down to one play than have to see him suffer through OT.
This was one of my favorite games I ever attended. I'd say over 75% of the stadium had emptied before we started our comeback. Pretty much everyone still in the stadium was in the first or second row. The 2-pt conversion at the end was right in front of the student section and everyone went crazy after they called back the first conversion and failed the second.
I was a big fan of Great Plains Burger Co off of North Campus. It might not be the best in Michigan (how do you even judge that?) but it was my favorite burger in Ann Arbor for sure. They also have amazing fries and shakes.
No GIF of Frank Clark hurdling a dude and getting a sack on the QB whose eyes shot wide open? I know everyone is all doom and gloom right now, but let's at least try to grab some GIFs of some of the exciting stuff.
Stay away from GIFs of Utah's QB faceplanting though, they kept showing the replay and I could barely watch. Did he think he was getting another 6 yards with that jump?
Since I can't make new posts, might as well post it in the posbang thread. Anyone else see Weird Al's new release today? I thought many people might get a kick out of it as it's about blind loyalty to a sports team and hating on other teams.
This may not be for everyone, but I've been following Weird Al's most recent releases (he's releasing 8 videos in 8 days for his new album) and it has brought back memories from listening to him growing up.
There's really nothing that more referees would do but make more calls than are already made. I think the only way to prevent flopping (and blatantly exaggerating, which I think is just as bad) is to review all falls post game and dish out cards after the game or possibly just suspending them for flopping. As soon as a handful of players are out for important matches, the diving will go way down.
While this is probably very do-able, it would be much more difficult than the golf ball setup you brought up. The golf ball always leaves from the same (or a very similar) spot. If you've ever used one of those simulators, you'd know you have to position the ball just right to light up the light that tells you it detects the ball.
Think of how much more complex a throwing motion is, even a different sized QB or a different throwing motion could completely change what needs to be detected. It would probably require a lot more cameras/whatever is used to detect the golf ball than the golf ball machine uses.
I think it's also less representative of real football since it's rare that a QB gets to sit in the pocket all comfortably, especially for Michigan this season. Additionally, it would have to simulate receivers running routes, which would add to the complexity.
The idea is feasible, but I don't think it would as useful as you would initially think.

The guy who ran Morgan down was also the first guy to miss. Crazy effort by that player.
I felt the officiating was awful but I didn't feel like they had an agenda. Felt like it was equally and all around.
His win % with Mich is the 5th highest on that entire table, what a joke of a table.

Wooooooooo!
How do they do playing three days in a row following a plane accident? And data on that one?

Don't you usually include the songs/artists of the songs you used?
I think it's imperative we get Pie so we can have the best names on our team. Between Taco and Peppers we already have a sweet meal going.
I'm a little sad about us missing out on McDoom.

You said he has not choice on where to go on this run, but isn't a bounce to the right side of the line crazy open?

That's one hell of a quote!

There was some team that lost their first game last season then went on to win a national championship. My vote is for that.
How on earth does a 5'10" 250 lb guy get a D1 soccer scholarship? Did he gain a ton of weight in a single summer?
