Tonight on BTN/BTN2Go: Michigan's 2008 win vs. No. 9 Wisconsin
maintain that this game is the one that is going to get Rich Rod on track here.
Thompson?

John Thompson. #49.
He's got a convoy.
Also, Wisconsin had no business being #8 in the country or whatever the hell it was.
The INT TD by Obi was so awesome though. He had like 6 blockers.
You were rolling.
After all, it wasn't over when the Germans bombed Peal Harbor!

Man, even that win was a harbinger of sorrow (sorry, Metallica) in those dark days.
Hit record on the DVR just in case. Got home that night about 11pm and turned it on not knowing the result.
Woke my whole neighborhood up.
I too thought that was a turning point for the season at the time.

Everything from 2008 should be purged and dropped into the Mariana trench.
And purge 2009 and 2010 while you at it...the 2010 bowl game loss was painful.
I was at the Wisc. game...and for a week I felt good. Had I only known the way the rest of the season would turn out.
That was fun.
This was one of my favorite games I ever attended. I'd say over 75% of the stadium had emptied before we started our comeback. Pretty much everyone still in the stadium was in the first or second row. The 2-pt conversion at the end was right in front of the student section and everyone went crazy after they called back the first conversion and failed the second.
Brandon Graham was having none of that shit all fourth quarter

I was there as well. Saying the stadium was 75% empty and everyone was in row 1 and 2 is a bit of a stretch.

lol at Threet running 65 yards
Run! Run faster! No, faster! You can make it! No, no you can't.
500th game in the Big House. Michigan always finds a way to win the notable games. Like how our single win against MSU in the last 6 years was our 100th game against them.

You're getting mixed up.
The 100th game between Michigan and MSU was in 2007.
The 2012 win was the 900th win in Michigan Football history.
All hail the great master of Michigan knowledge!!!! As a mere humble ball of fur and tissue it is an honor to comment below your post. All hail the great Devotee!!!!
WD, your knowledge of Michigan football is incredible. Even if it comes from a shit load of binders.

the defense was able to hang in there all the way and ovecome the offensive ineptitude of that team. First half was just horrible. Fortunately, Wisconsin seemed to want to keep us in the game and the defense was able to make enough plays to save the day. No thanks. I don't need to see that again.
Michigan's most recent win over a top-10 team..........
That will change soon. Very soon.
This is slightly depressing but seems to be accurate.
I was part of the block M. Good times.
can develop enough highlight games to push games like this to the bottom of the heap.
Yeah, I'm glad we beat Tebow and the Gators in that bowl game a few years ago, but it seems like that's the only Classic M game that the B1G Network shows any more. That and UTL I.
but I wish the B1G Network would dig into the archives and show more classic Bo/Mo/Lloyd games.
My daughter was basically a newborn when this game happened. She was sleeping in her crib in the living room, and my wifes whole family was over to see the baby. Everyone was being quiet and I was watching the game right next to my new child. Thomspon took the pick 6 back and I started screaming after what was pretty much the worst first half I have ever seen. My daughter woke up screaming and all my wife's relatives still think I'm a jerk. I felt bad but that was a great comeback. That is my "cool story bro" for that game.
I managed to wake up a sleeping baby upstairs, in a pretty big house, during the ill-fated lateral-fest at the end of the 2006 Alamo Bowl...many a family member were pissed.
If not for that Wisconsin game, I may not be alive today.

Even though we somehow won that game, it still gives me shivers. How we held that to so many field goals is beyond me.
What sort of gets me even now - and as someone said, it seemed like a time where even wins were harbingers of doom - is that if the second attempt at the conversion by Wisconsin doesn't die with a bad throw (the first being successful but reversed on a penalty, I believe), that game goes to OT and who knows after that. Even what turned out to be a win was a bit of climb in 2008.
There was no slow decline. Everything got horrible instantly. It's just too painful to relive.
