Couldn't help but think of…

Couldn't help but think of the 20 point loss at Nebraska last year after beating State in EL two games beforehand. Tonight's game was brutal to take in, but on to the next one.

I loooooove how much they…

I loooooove how much they have talked about ND/Clemson during this game. Only makes it all the more clear how meaningless this game is. Still, pathetic showing.

Loved seeing Beilein sitting back and relaxing on the bench during garbage time. Ol' coach deserves a rest like that each game.

I live in NYC and getting to…

I live in NYC and getting to the stadium was easy enough so planning time in NYC would be recommended. My buddy and I went to a few bars before and after the game and even though everyone was decked out in Rutgers gear, we didn't encounter assholes, which was nice.

As for the stadium experience, it is not great. I think a large part of that is due to Rutgers being 1-8 going into the game, but also because it's just not a great stadium. The already scant student section cleared out by the end of the 3rd quarter and the stadium was pretty empty save the Michigan contingency. I'd get seats on the visitor side for sure. All that being said, it would be a fun trip to make in 2020 and if you can make it happen, do it!

Michigan football reigns…

Michigan football reigns supreme in my life EXCEPT when it comes to family, sometimes friends, but rarely friends. My senior year was 2010-2011 and the one Michigan game I missed was the shootout between Illinois, which, if you look at that home slate that year, was probably the most exciting game to attend. I was at home, watching the family dog and my niece happened to be born that same day, which was somewhat unexpected. Anyway, this won't be the last big Michigan game you'll have the chance to see, but it is potentially your cousin's last football game you will probably get the chance to see. Moreover, this would be a great way to get to know this part of your family better.

GRIII had a solid 14 minutes…

GRIII had a solid 14 minutes off of the bench for the Pistons - 9 pts, a board and a steal.

Yeah, give the (older) kid a…

Yeah, give the (older) kid a break! I have no problem with my post being deleted. The other post already has 3 more replies AND video highlights. However, my post does mention Burke in the title and he had a very sweet assist to Kanter. At the end of a Friday night, who cares? Not me...

Can we stop talking about…

Can we stop talking about the Ohio State game until we ge through Penn State? This was a game very much indpendent of the game .

Haven't seen The Duke crowd too much tonight. Deliberate choice by camera crew? I'm assuming it's thin. Is it too much to ask the students, on a Friday night, to show up like they do for Duke basketball? The team is 4-0. Granted, we're talking very different capacities and Duke football, but c'mon!
Keith Jackson

on the Clarence Williams touchdown, "Clarence Williams' grandmother could've scored that one."

As if

there wasn't enough to pick apart, I haven't seen much discussion (understandably so, considering the other glaring deficits on offense) about penalties. There have been calls on both sides of the ball, but I'm putting this in the offensive thread because the ones on O are costing us a lot more. In each game, Michigan has received some really damning penalties, thinking most recently about Isaac's run today to the 1 (perhaps TD) called back because of a (questionable) holding call. Still, the fact remains we are stalling on certain offensive drives because of costly penalties. I think it speaks to the overall inexperience on that side of the ball.

Penalties through first three games, opponent on left, UM on right:

5/45 - 7/55

4/30 - 7/68

3/30 7/72

The offense, with its struggles, has a low margin for error and penalties are hindering a lot of momentum on drives. This is a "duh" statement, but stands out that much more when the offense is as inept as it has played at times.

Dogfish Head

Dogfish Head 90 Minute. My god it's dangerous. Dangerous like this recruiting class is shaping up to be. Not sure who will be next, but I'm content to drink and bask in what has been accomplished thus far. Go Blue and booze.

Oh, Doyle

does not rule.

Ugly game and

as fans, we can definitely be upset with a poor performance, but damn, some out there have no patience. No doubt there are some glaring weaknesses on the team, but this is a team that was pretty fractured last year and still isn't 100% healthy or as cohesive as it could be. Get better from here and get ready to play UConn next week. Go Blue.

29-21 Michigan

29-21 good guys.

This

made this post all the more worthwhile. Whenever you can throw in a reference from The Simpsons, you do so, dammit. Well done. And, uh, welcome, Steve.

Funny you chose Navarre

As he came to mind pretty quickly, but perhaps due to the fact I just watched 2003 Michigan/OSU highlights.

However, I think Denard is my favorite. I was a student for a good amount of his career at Michigan and he was a bright spot in an otherwise dark time for Michigan football. We know his shortcomings, but man, did he compete and make some pretty electric plays. From what I've seen and heard, he's a class act, too. Oh, and the nickname of "Shoelace" is pretty excellent.

Officiating aside

Jake has accounted for 3 tds and while he's still not hitting guys in stride as well as he should/could, he has looked pretty solid, all things considered.

I'm Glad

that your name is Mac Attack, your picture is of fat Mac, and that you called this guy a "jabroni". Well done, sir.

Excellent Compilation

I was waiting for a solid recap like this to come out, as 5 minutes of highlights isn't enough! Thanks for putting it together. Go Blue!

Those poor kids

from Schmid Elementary. Visiting Auburn? Bleh.

In all seriousness, this is a great piece. Well done to those who helped in getting these kids down for a visit. Would love to see which students end up at Auburn after an experience like that.

First encounter with Bob Ufer

It was right before Christmas day and my mom let me open one gift early. At this stage, I was becoming the lifelong, diehard Michigan fan that I am today, growing up just outside of East Lansing, no less. I had been obssessed since 2nd/3rd grade and this was the Christmas of 7th grade I believe. Anyway, I open the gift and it's a cd of Michigan football classics, including a bunch of radio calls from Ufer. I didn't know who Bob Ufer was before cracking open that cd, but you better believe I cried when I listened to that cd. This man understood this crazy fandom I was going through and made sense of it through his radio calls. I will always remember that day quite fondly and will always remember who Bob Ufer was and what he continues to mean for Meeechigan football. RIP Bob Ufer.

Not surprised considering

that interception against Burke in '97 is the greatest pic I've ever seen.

For anyone who has read The Martian

(.Y.)

Commentary is great

The Little Brown Jug, oh how I love thee. Man, ESPN needs to get back to this kind of broadcasting. And that sax intro? Gold.

I might try

to get PWO status as a QB, too. I mean, I drink plenty of whole milk and would be willing to play without pads from the waist up. If not PWO status, PYT status is the goal. Anyway, enough rambling, welcome to Michigan, Michael!

30-13

30-13 Good Guys! Go Blue!

Thinking about Michigan football while

reluctantly going into Manhattan to spend part of the day. Otherwise, not watching the rest of this garbage Clemson/Miami game, hoping to see good news out of EL from 3:30-7, and then getting drunk and dancing like an ass in front of co-workers in Brooklyn. Yeah, it's a pretty sad day when Michigan ain't playing football.

I will be there

I'll make the trek from Brooklyn to MSG. Even paying $100 for a doubleheader would be worth it, as what the hell else are you doing on Saturday, Jan. 30th?

This is encouraging on a bye week

The fact that the coaching staff is jet setting across the country, "mining for gold" makes this bye week far less mundane. Perhaps I am ignorant when it comes to the finer details of recruiting, but how common is it for this many coaches on a staff to hop around the country on a bye week? I want to believe this is a unique happening and perhaps that's because it's the Harbaugh influence on my mind, but I feel like it's not uncommon with larger scale programs.

I didn't think

this Vine could be any better, but you proved me wrong. Bravo for this idea.

Is that you

Mitt Romney?

2015: "You could fill a binder with instances of disrespect and classlessness directed at MSU from Michigan players, coaches, and fans over the years."

2012: "I went to a number of women's groups and said: "Can you help us find folks?" And they brought us whole binders full of women."

You need to go to disrespected Spartan groups and find those instances for your binder.

Some Helpful Quotes

I know there have been a lot of posts from when the game ended until now, with a lot of us trying to process and understand what the hell happened and what it all means. I've been reading "Endzone" and wanted to share these two quotes from Michigan Men of yesteryear:

"But do let me reiterate...the Spirit of Michigan. It is based upon a deathless loyalty to Michigan and all her ways; an enthusiasm that makes it second nature for Michigan Men to spread the gospel of their university to the world's distant outposts; a conviction that nowhere is there a better university, in any way, than this Michigan of ours." (Fielding Yost, Endzone, p. 13)

"Tradition is something you can't borrow," Crisler said, echoing Yost's famous speech. "You cannot go down and buy it at the corner store, but it's there to sustain you when you need it the most. I have watched countless Michigan football coaches, countless Michigan players call upon it time and time again. There is nothing like it. I hope it never dies." (Fritz Crisler, Endzone, p. 14)

I hope these quotes sustain you as much as they have on my end. Let us call upon why we love this program so much, now when we need it the most.

Interesting

comparison you make, OP. Yet, here is another comparison: Were we not feeling some of the same sentiment in 2012? Granted, we can look back and say any idea of "turning it around" was unfounded and did not pan out. However, the point being let's see what happens over the next 5, most likely 6 games, as I think that will give us a great idea of what Harbaugh has done in terms of when his team faces an avalanche of adversity from a heartbreaking loss. No doubt his track record shows we will come out stronger, but we have to finish this season and see what we got come spring ball. I feel more invested in the program than I have in a long time, but I still want to see the results. In essence, I believe in Harbaugh and his staff, but we need to see all of this raw emotion and coaching deliver nonetheless. Go Blue!

I've been waiting to read

Harbaugh's presser. I wish I could have been in the locker room last night to hear him address the team. While I think we may come out a little flat against Minnesota to start the game, because there will be so much raw, nervous energy to come out after a game like last night, we will bounce back and run the table until our last game, which should be a helluva game. I do agree our passing game, if it were more of a threat, could be the difference in a 2 loss or 0 loss record, but things are the way they are right now and nothing we say on this board will change that of course. At this point I'm just sad we have to wait two weeks to see our boys take the field again. Go Blue!

As of last few contests

I'd be concerned with all of the media hype that went into Michigan and Harbaugh this week being used for fodder by Mike D. to rally his troops, which no doubt it will be, but there is something different about this team and how they handle themselves week-to-week. Whatever happens today, I expect to see Michigan play a full 60 minutes, which most certainly hasn't been the case in recent matches. Time to ball.

That Song

Coming To Your City, or whatever it's called, is hot trash. Can't stand it. "If you want a little bang in your yin yang?" -Absolutely not.

DB and

"Dave Brandon made me pay for this sign" and "Connor Cook talks about Fight Club" aren't too shabby.

Solid Comparisons

So does Dantonio have a lust for younger boys? Too far? Who fills the role as the Spacing Guild, ESPN?

This

From my couch

in Brooklyn, NYC, the Big House and the MMB are both looking damn good.

No

Based on what they've produced this season, they are a team outside of the top 10. 10-15 range. This is the one instance where being the pre-season #1 helps, but it really doesn't anyway because I'm sure if the 4 teams for the CFP today were picked after today, OSU would not be a guarantee by any means.

So

much schadenfreude when it comes to our rivals this year. Fantastic. Of course it will mean nothing if we can't get it done against them, but it's very welcome at the moment.

Mark May

is kind of the worst. He just picked NU citing their running game and their QB getting it done through the air and on the ground. Twat!

And on this note

time for bed. What a great way to end the work week and kickoff the weekend. Thanks for the memory and accompanying video.

There are

a lot of things posted on this site and most of these things containt very good content. However, I gotta say that this is one of my favorite threads I've ever read. The creativity and commentary are all spot on. I only wish I wasn't a hack and could contribute my own product. Well done, all.

What

vision! What execution! This! I will never look at this movie the same again.
