Look at the Islanders goalies...almost a goal a game better than the Wings....Howard isn’t terrible but what he has in front of him as defensemen is embarrassingly bad..they can’t consistently clear the zone or clear the front of the net. Islanders Defensemen > Wings Defensemen....that is a talent not coaching difference.
The Wings have brought up a ton of AHL players in the last month of so, for god sakes Jake Chelios is on the ice now. Look at the other Griffins who have come up this season, Absent bringing up players from the Walleye, I don’t know what else they can do to tank. Defensively they have little blue line talent. They don’t have a superstar on offense.
That being said the Wings do have some talented young players who are slowly becoming NHL caliber players. They aren’t going to lay down and tank as they are playing for their futures. Frankly that kind of character is needed to compete in the NHL.
Last year’s draft was pretty good. They will likely get a Defenseman, Center and Winger who will play in the league. They need a couple more drafts to help and for Holland to leave — his bad contracts are a anchor on the franchise. Stevie coming home can’t hurt — and I have no doubt that he doesn’t want guys in the team that would tank.
I have thought all year that this is one of the most offensively challenged teams that Coach Beilein has had. Unlike previous years, There is no go to guy on offense. No one ready for the NBA. Tonight has been unwatchable. Go Blue!
Don’t be afraid to do some work to make the place yours, some work is easier to do than others. You want to make sure to keep some money aside so you can make some minor renovations to get the place the way that want it.

Repainting is easy when it’s empty. Do it if you can.
Visit the area before buying and talk to to the neighbors. Go multiple times, different days of the week. Look for railroad lines and flight paths, you don’t want to have to get used to those sounds.
Fund out why they are really selling if you can. That being said, sellers lie so scrutinize the sellers disclosure.

Great question. I am in the same boat in west Michigan, in an area with limited options. My kids tell me to cut the cord but I don’t have a great internet option other than xfinity. I can’t make the math worth on my mind end either.
Met him several years ago. A true gentleman who took the time to talk to every fan who came up to see him. Never saw him play but listened to my dad talk about the production line. Would love to time travel back and see the Wings play the Leafs in Detroit on a Friday night, and take the train to Toronto for the rematch on Saturday. I remember a quote from one of them, that said something like we play hockey for money but we’d play the Leafs for free. Different era for sure. RIP Ted.
Two excellent old fashioins with a nice dinner with the Mrs. Feeling sleepy. One last walk with dog in the snow before we all fall asleep in front of a nice fireplace. Empty nesting ain’t all bad!

The Wings are in full blown development mode for another 2-3 years. Scotty Bowman couldn’t make the playoffs with this roster.
