Can’t say I’m surprised, but still, kind of bummed. He’ll definitely be missed. This will definitely make it harder for Brady to get ring #7.

What do you all think Gronk does next? I could see him breaking into Hollywood. The guy is too big a personality to stay out of the spotlight. I can’t see him going the commentator route.

The greatest TE ever. Gonzalez has the longevity and was great in his own right, but Gronk to me is the GOAT TE. His past years were plagued by injuries, but when healthy (or even 50%), he was the Megatron/Moss of TEs.

This is the biggest loss Brady has probably ever had on offense. Bigger than Moss, Hernandez, Welker, Cooks etc....He is also one of the best blocking TEs as well, so the loss will be felt in a few areas.

The road for #7 just got much harder. Not putting it against TB12 to win #7, but this is a huge blow to their offense, though they have probably known about this coming for quite some time.

If you're going to be a jerk, at least do it correctly.  "By whom*?"

Gronk was not only a great player and fun to watch, but had a fun personality, both on the field and off.  Sure, he was polarizing and isn't for everyone, but to suggest Gronk appeals to no one is down right stupid.

Will go down as one of the greatest Tight End's of all time and is a sure fire Hall of Fame inductee. He should follow the Rock and go into Hollywood. Will be very interesting to see how Brady and Patriots perform without him.

Although Gronk played in the playoffs last year, he didn't look the same. Father time and lots of injuries caught up with him.  He will be hard to replace but over the last few years, Gronk missed lots of games and the Pats still won.  Scheme and the perfect QB to implement the scheme.

The Lions tried to trade for him. He was a shell of his former self last year. Gronk didn’t want to play for the Lions so we were saved. That’s all you got to know about the Lions.

People seem to think Brady is going to have a major fall without Gronk, are crazy (yes Gronk is/was awesome)

in the past 3 seasons Gronk has missed 15 games and the Pats went 14-1

No player was more key to the overall success of Tom Brady over the past decade than Gronk, he will definitely be missed and I hope we are able to find an admirable replacement.  I wish him only the best.

My first thought when he retired was that he'll let his body heal for a year or two and then come back for 1-2 more. Of course, I have nothing to base this on.

While NE is bummed tonight, something we knew was coming.  What could be a better farewell: Game winning catch leading to final TD in AFC Championship.  Followed up with the same in the Super Bowl.  3 rings and probably if healthy, would have 1-2 more.  Whatever direction the road takes him, Hollywood, network studio or big time pitchman, all directions point to a trip to Canton OH in 5 years.  Thanks for 9 tremendous and entertaining years.  Gronk the player may be somewhat replaced, Gronk the personality, NEVER!

Love the guy, not afraid to be himself despite the cynics.  I thought it was refreshing that he was self aware he played a game for a living. Unlike some other players who needed to make statements he just did what he was being paid to do.  Only 29, but you can’t blame the guy for getting out while he still will be able to pick up his kids later on in life.
