Is shit balls one thing or two separate things?
February 24th, 2019 at 6:43 PM ^
Depends if you are Hitler, Goebbels, or a normal person.
February 24th, 2019 at 5:46 PM ^
Poole cost us. Got caught in the air at least three times, was zoning out on D, and never attacks the rim. He will pump fake and jab step until he takes a contested 3. We need to run the offensive system and get more open looks before sparty outplays us again.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:07 PM ^
He actually attacked the rim a lot more today than usual, but in general, I'd say he was our worst player today. Played like a freshman, going for steals, poor shot selection, etc. Brooks' slide has been pretty significant too, unless he can prove he can touch the basketball on offense without stopping the flow DeJulius may be in order to take his spot.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:23 PM ^
Brooks is disinterested. I didn’t realize it till today. Hopefully I’m wrong or Beilein figures it out as well and plays DeJulius
February 24th, 2019 at 6:38 PM ^
I think DeJulius has taken the back up spot from brooks. I just think JB was a little scared to play the freshman today. Brooks has never shot the ball when I watch the games.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:39 PM ^
I think he shot at least twice today and both were horrible misses.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:41 PM ^
Brooks has always been bad.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:42 PM ^
He didn't have a great game but he was not nearly the worst. Matthews (1-8) was the worst starter and Brooks off the bench was a liability. Poole did have nice drives to the bucket and needs to do that a little more to keep the defenses honest and free up some better looks from 3. But give Sparty credit, they defended well on a couple of his takes to the bucket and kept him from get great looks from 3.
I agree regarding DeJulius. He seems to be better than Brooks already - and he will be much better by the time he leaves Michigan.
February 24th, 2019 at 5:46 PM ^
Brian can eat poop for pissing on Ed regarding McQuaid. He outplayed both Matthews and Poole by a mile. Just like Brian pissing on Ed for saying Hap could move his feet well enough to guard Iggy (and Hap did). Guess what, Ed knows about basketball.
February 24th, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
Brian doesn't know as much as he thinks he does, that's always been the case.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:02 PM ^
This.
Brian is a fat, know it all loser
February 24th, 2019 at 6:42 PM ^
Yeah but that’s all of us to an extent. He’s got really good insight into football, but basketball coverage here kinda sucks without Ace.
February 24th, 2019 at 9:40 PM ^
No he doesnt
February 24th, 2019 at 5:56 PM ^
To be fair Sam Brian and Craig all said it was stupid
February 24th, 2019 at 6:44 PM ^
To be fair, Sam is a shameless homer who wouid argue that Poole is better than Zion Williamson and Cassius Winston combined.
February 25th, 2019 at 4:49 PM ^
Ill agree that the lack of Poole critiques is rather head scratching...but Ive never heard him say he would put Poole up against those guys..have you? honest question If he did, yes he is way off base
February 24th, 2019 at 7:18 PM ^
Ed is probably right about McQuaid.
My wife thinks so, too.
But let's root for Charles to pick it up.
CR
February 24th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
Sam didn't say it was stupid at all. He didn't say much during that segment. I'm guessing he thinks it's pretty even. I don't think it was arrogance on Brian's part but that he hates Ed. Ed has said some dumb stuff but he doesn't deserve nearly the criticism he gets from this board or Brian.
February 24th, 2019 at 7:04 PM ^
TBH I have no idea what you’re referencing. I’ve tuned out of being a die hard Michigan basketball fan since January. But Mcquaid having his first decent game against Michigan doesn’t change my opinion on him. Just like my opinion on Winston hasn’t changed. Not an NBA player. At his size, you need either elite quickness, elite explosiveness, elite ball handling, or elite shooting, at the very least be a shot creator. He has none of those attributes. Pulling up for contested twos isn’t creating your own shot. A guard bigger than Simpson will block that all day in the nba. He had a good game at the line and played within himself, but to me, he gets hyped up too much. It looked like Michigan didn’t know any of MSU’s tendencies on offense.
February 24th, 2019 at 8:43 PM ^
The reference is to the WTKA radio show that Sam has - he brings in Brian, Ed, and Craig Ross for a few segments. Ed said that he'd take McQuaid as a better player than Matthews. Ed was proven right, today...
"I’ve tuned out of being a die hard Michigan basketball fan since January."
Fair weather front running fans are the worst.
February 24th, 2019 at 5:46 PM ^
Just can’t shoot like crap over the last 5 min in big games. This squad has struggled with cold spells frequently. Mathews was a no show and Poole never fit in a rhythm.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:19 PM ^
They've been shooting poorly for almost a month at this point. It's who this team is. The team that looked like killers early in the season was the aberration - not the team that shoots like shit.
February 24th, 2019 at 5:47 PM ^
We want Purdue!
February 24th, 2019 at 5:47 PM ^
Scored 14 points in the first 4 minutes of the half. Scored 6 over the next 12. The offense is fugly. Just embarrassing. 4th top-10 match-up in the rivalry's history, 1989 national championship team was there, national tv, B1G title on the line, and they took a giant dump on the court. Winston absolutely ate Simpson's lunch and Teske couldn't do shit all game, some his fault, others the fault of the team not getting him the ball on mismatches. They're going to lose by 20 in East Lansing. Fuck.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:17 PM ^
Typical overreaction. We have 6 guys. Two of them played one of their worst game of season. Of the other 4, all had a few moments of good, but lots of bad. Played awful on D. To say this game will impact a 20 point loss to MSU is odd. After this beating, and would think way more focused, a 20 point beat down would really make me question this team for March. Mental mistakes should be way down.
This reminds me a bit of last year at MSU, roles reversed. Home team thinking they got this, and just not looking as sharp as a team on the road playing with nothing to lose. This is a rival game. Crap happens. How they bounce back will defy this season.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:20 PM ^
So was losing to a mediocre Iowa, a dogshit PSU, or a good MSU the worst those guys played all season? There have been so many "worst game of the seasons" lately.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:40 PM ^
Winning at Iowa and at Wisconsin is hard. Seems Team wasn’t focused and just went through motions against PSU. I would say losing at home to MSU and at PSU the 2 dark holes. Lots of teams lose at Wisc/Iowa. Road games are hard.
February 24th, 2019 at 8:16 PM ^
Tell that to msu, who won both. Dont worry, they are still capable of shitting themselves.
We can still win a top 10 and top 25 road game to finish regular season. Depending on B10 tournament and the play of others, our seeding is still very much alive.
February 24th, 2019 at 8:59 PM ^
They lost at Illinois & Home against An IU who has lost like 8-10. Reality is college kids don’t get up for 30 games, and winning on road you have to overcome a lot. Especially officials at Iowa at Wisc.
personally this one stings the most, and nothing to do with rival. Home game with first place on line. Should be up. Thus, surprised a bit by the mental mistakes. I think some is fatigue, some youth, some rival got best of them, etc. just need to bounce back. I think the end of year run starts now. How they respond after this game and a practice week will dictate a lot to me.
February 27th, 2019 at 12:18 PM ^
JPC is a sparty troll - engaging is encouraging.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:30 PM ^
My question is why do we have 6 guys? Who's fault is that? It's hard to play on no rest and 30 plus games a year with that short of a rotation.
February 24th, 2019 at 11:22 PM ^
Too many guys leaving early.
February 24th, 2019 at 5:47 PM ^
Sounds like The King’s Speech when he’s trying to overcome that stutter.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:45 PM ^
I forgot about that scene. Thank you for refreshing my memory and an up vote for referencing a very good movie.
February 24th, 2019 at 5:50 PM ^
It’s not hard. What have we said for months. We can’t score. It’s weird. We honestly can’t score or shoot. We will lose before the elite eight. It’s just a fact. We cannot shoot this year.the beginning of the season was great. The end of the season has been trash. That’s it.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:01 PM ^
Yep. We are also ranked 297 in the NCAA in offensive rebounding. If you can’t shoot and can’t get second chances you just can’t win against good teams.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
This is the sort of team that can get upset in the first game of the tournament. If they shoot like total shit they can lose to anyone - there are many "bad" teams in the tournament who are much better than PSU.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:28 PM ^
We may in all likelihood lose before Elite 8. We may not. We are a great team on most nights. It’s been tough recently because the Big Ten is a grind.
We’ll see what happens but I don’t expect us to go down without a fight.
February 24th, 2019 at 5:52 PM ^
State shits on us at home. Hope we can return the favor,
February 24th, 2019 at 6:14 PM ^
What's the joke? We won at Breslin last year against a better team by more points than MSU won by today...
February 24th, 2019 at 6:43 PM ^
Pointing to what happened *last year* considering the different composition of the team as if that matters more than what just happened today in Crisler is not a great argument.
February 24th, 2019 at 11:02 PM ^
I doubt it. We'll lose to them on the road and in the B1G tournament if we advance far enough. If the shooting does not improve we will have an early exit in the NCAA.
February 24th, 2019 at 5:52 PM ^
I recall the term “dog shit taco” on this blog some time ago. I think it may be applicable here in some way.
February 24th, 2019 at 5:53 PM ^
Not surprised. Can always count on Michigan to find a way to lose on the biggest stage. Season is over. Zero chance they win in east landfill.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:19 PM ^
This is Michigan basketball, not football bud. Back to back big ten Champs and a final four in the last year. If a regular season game in February is "the biggest stage" to you, you must be watching a lot more MSU basketball than Michigan basketball
February 24th, 2019 at 8:36 PM ^
Exactly. It was a big game, but the biggest ones are in March for a team that already has 24 wins in February.
February 24th, 2019 at 6:49 PM ^
Doesn't every basketball team save 2 lose the last game of the season? Don't more than half the football teams lose their last game? I am not sure your standards are practical or your comment fair.
February 24th, 2019 at 5:55 PM ^
OSU hung 62 on us and now this lmao
