I assumed he was gone, hoping to get Stewart back!
January 11th, 2024 at 2:30 PM ^
I would assume Stewart is highly likely to come back. He was a backup for most of the season and can really improve his draft stock by putting together a full season starting at UM.
January 11th, 2024 at 2:43 PM ^
Moore, Stewart, Grahem, Grant?
Yikes.
Some unhappy QBs thinking about that line up.
January 11th, 2024 at 3:22 PM ^
Plus Barham and Benny. The DL might actually be better next year. Again.
January 11th, 2024 at 6:32 PM ^
Minter stays and we have a candidate for #1 overall defense again.
January 12th, 2024 at 10:55 PM ^
Very possibly the first 4 but it doesn't look like we'll have the depth.
January 11th, 2024 at 1:34 PM ^
Anyone know what his projection was pre-injury? I REALLY hope he got himself some draft insurance (is that still a thing???)
January 11th, 2024 at 1:39 PM ^
Are you insinuating he will not get drafted?
January 11th, 2024 at 1:41 PM ^
If he was projected as a second-rounder, but the injury causes him to be drafted in the fourth, he'll have suffered a measurable financial loss. That's what the insurance would cover.
January 11th, 2024 at 1:39 PM ^
It depends on which poop-flinger you prefer, but one of the first few OGs off the board, so probably 2nd/3rd round. He said that he expects to be ready to go for spring camp.
January 11th, 2024 at 1:46 PM ^
Elite tackles go early, elite guards usually are 2nd-3rd round types. He is one of the best guards in the country. And he is going to be one of the longest (that's what she said) at 6'5-6'6. That's usually tackle size.
January 11th, 2024 at 2:44 PM ^
Honestly I think a smart team does not devalue him at all.
He should heal up just fine.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:04 PM ^
I would think there's a good possibility, I remember that Butt collected from insurance. The one more year funds would help. (to cover the premium).
January 11th, 2024 at 1:34 PM ^
Good luck - what a beast/warrior/road grader/captain/legend, etc
January 11th, 2024 at 1:38 PM ^
Get healthy and good luck to you sir.
January 11th, 2024 at 1:38 PM ^
Let's go Zak!
January 11th, 2024 at 1:40 PM ^
I can see a long career for him in the NFL. Great character mixed in with elite talent.
January 11th, 2024 at 1:41 PM ^
I hope he ends up a Lion. Holmes likes the value from dudes coming off an injury.
And the Lions are finally in a place where I can hope players I like go there.
January 11th, 2024 at 1:44 PM ^
Dan Campbell might get his own Product of the Trenches tattoo.
January 11th, 2024 at 1:51 PM ^
Same same! Glasgow is fine but getting up their in age and would be best as a backup to cover for Ragnow and another stud guard as he is so valuable for his position versatility and doesn't break the bank. We have a lot of guys to start paying on the Lions the next 2 offseasons so paying Jackson who is solid but not great $14M or whatever he wants is not a great value. Brad has shown he doesn't care about "positional value" so we could see ZZ to Lions in the 2nd round - of course it might be the last pick of the round ;)
Honestly they are probably going to need to invest a lot of resources in the line soon as Decker is getting up there in age and Ragnow despite being elite seems to not even be able to practice most weeks with his toe thing.
January 11th, 2024 at 1:43 PM ^
Would love to see him on the Lions replacing Jackson and saving us some $12M or so. (I used to never wish Michigan players to the Lions - how times have changed) With that "clean" of an injury vs a knee can't see him dropping past the 2nd round with his talent. Looks like a plug and play guy who will play in the league 12+ years and go be an All pro for 5-6. So happy they were able to win it for this guy. Loved Blake's 6 & 5 finger gesture on the very next play!

Michigan Legend the 6-5
January 11th, 2024 at 1:47 PM ^
A lot of us who grew up in Michigan got used to dealing with crummy pothole-infested roads that are by most accounts the worst in the nation. As an Ohio resident who's made the A2-Columbus commute often, I can testify firsthand to this.
However the last three years, that route back to Ohio has been smooth and enjoyable and I can't help but think Zak paving the way with OSU's front seven was the difference.
Go Blue and godspeed, big guy. Go be great in the big leagues.
January 11th, 2024 at 1:48 PM ^
You're a legend and I'll miss you. Good luck in the draft, hopefully my Giants draft because boy we need help on the line.
January 11th, 2024 at 1:48 PM ^
Colson declared as well
January 11th, 2024 at 1:55 PM ^
I wish he could have been healthy to the end, he deserved to be on the field in the trenches.
Godspeed young man and thank you for everything you have done at Michigan.
Let's go Zak!
January 11th, 2024 at 1:58 PM ^
He has accomplished everything a collegiate player could ask for. Congrats Zak!
January 11th, 2024 at 2:03 PM ^
If I may.. “Let’s Go Zak”….
January 11th, 2024 at 2:21 PM ^
How many Wolverines are going to get drafted, and what is our record? Feel like we may take a run at it...
January 11th, 2024 at 2:50 PM ^
Zinter, Keegan, Nugent, Barnhart (4 OL)
Corum & Don (if he goes)
Barner (if he goes)
JJ (if he goes)
Jenkins, Colson, Barrett, Sainristill, Rod Moore (if he goes), Page (if he goes), Josh Wallace, maybe?
Did I miss anyone?
January 11th, 2024 at 7:06 PM ^
LaDarius Henderson? Or do we think he won't get drafted now? That would really suck for him as I believe he was considered to be a likely 2nd day pick when he left ASU.
January 11th, 2024 at 2:27 PM ^
He needed to declare? I thought he was like 26.
Go give 'em hell, ZZ!
January 11th, 2024 at 2:28 PM ^
Not surprised. I hope his recovery is progressing well enough that the injury will not affect his draft stock. I wish him well. He will not be easy to replace be replace him we must.
January 11th, 2024 at 2:28 PM ^
Michigan legend.
January 11th, 2024 at 2:36 PM ^
A product of the trenches.
January 11th, 2024 at 2:43 PM ^
I thought he was going anyway. Didn’t he not have any eligibility left?
January 11th, 2024 at 2:44 PM ^
Good luck Zak. Forever a Wolverine great and National champ.
January 11th, 2024 at 2:48 PM ^
One of our best ever. Heal up and get after it at the next level.
January 11th, 2024 at 3:00 PM ^
perhaps you, like me, once got texts from anxious friends saying some variation 'how bad is our offense going to be when this true FR O-lineman is reportedly the best player on O?'
CONSIDER THE PAST 3 YEARS YOUR ANSWER
January 11th, 2024 at 5:39 PM ^
BEST OF LUCK Z Z!!!
I WISH YOU COULD HAVE PLAYED THOSE LAST FEW GAMES TOO!!!!
ENJOY THE MEMORIES AND FRIENDSHIPS.
DON'T FORGET WHERE YOU'RE FROM!!!! WE WON'T!!!!!!
January 11th, 2024 at 8:19 PM ^
Dude is a beast! Wish him nothing but the best
January 12th, 2024 at 5:12 AM ^
Foregone conclusion, I think for Zinter.
