Wolverines in Super Bowl LVI
What a great day of football!
I don't really care for either team, but there are some good stories like the Bengals making it to the Super Bowl for the first time since the Ickey Shuffle was a thing and Stafford FINALLY getting to the big show.
That said...
RAMS:
- David Long
- Blake Countess (listed as Auburn, but I'm counting him, no pun intended)
BENGALS:
- Chris Evans
Wow, that was a much shorter list than I had expected.
The niners have 4 Wolverines (Mo Hurst, Ambry Thomas, Jarrod Wilson, Lavert Hill) and the Chiefs have 3 (Henne, Danna, Frank Clark).
Well, good luck to these 3 gents, along with the long-suffering Matt Stafford, and GO BLUE!

So if you're gonna count Blake as a Wolverine, then the OSU fan will count Joe Burrows as a Buckeye. Smh

I agree for the most part. In the OP's defense though, Countess started more games and played 3 years at Michigan where he played at an All-Big Ten level before grad transfer to Auburn for one final year. Burrow never started a game and barely saw the field for OSU and then went on to start two full years and win the Heisman at LSU. It's a little different.

Agree. This is my position.
In the transfer era I also don’t object to certain guys being claimed by two schools. I claim Mike Danna, but Central Michigan can and should be proud of him.

This. Countess' Michigan career was in no way similar to Joe Burrow's at osu.
Countess was at Michigan for 4 years and started 2 seasons and 23 games for Michigan before grad transferring to Auburn.
Burrow started 0 games, had a total of 41 pass attempts, 2 TDs, and 287 passing yards for his osu career. He was a garbage time QB. The only game in which he appeared that osu lost was the 55-24 loss at Iowa in 2017. Otherwise, the other games in which he appeared averaged something like a 40 point win margin.

Main difference I see is Countess had actual playing time in AA.

The main difference is: Buckeye fans don't live in reality. They claim Joe as if they've always thought of him as one of their own and were devastated by him going to LSU. My guess is they're praying for a Super Bowl winning QB to walk down Tommy's SEVEN.
Good luck with that buck NUTS

Joe Burrow was and will always be a Buckeye. Just because he was behind a record setting QB, and didnt get playing time doesnt make him any less a Buckeye. He did graduate from tOSU and will forever be a Buckeye.

"Let me think.....what do I identify myself as- a buckeye where I rode the bench for several years, played a handful of downs in garbage time, maybe a quarter of the fan base knows my name, and only 5% would recognize my face in public; or a Tiger, where I set college football passing records, won a national championship, and will be forever a legend in the state of Louisiana? Golly. Decisions! Decisions!"
Like I said- Buckeye fans don't live in reality. Delusional twits

Agreed, can't just pick and choose based on our own narrative.

Well notable is that OSU to this day doesn't have a home grown viable starting QB since Shlicter. Fields transferred in from Ga.

Not remotely the same situation. Blake was a multi year starter here.

Can we really still claim Frank Clark? More importantly, do we want to?

IDK why you posted this here, exactly, but I agree with your sentiment. The school's social media feeds do it, too, and I'm not sure why.

I think Burrow graduated from OSU, so I’m okay with them claiming him. He definitely still claims OSU. He thanked the osu staff as much as LSU’s at his heisman speech.

That’s the kicker for me.
Burrow has seemed to credit the Day/Ohio State as much or more than he credits LSU. Just recently, Burrow said that JT Barrett was and has been his biggest QB peer mentor, and that Barrett taught him the right mentality to have as a QB.

THIS^^^^^100%

Chris had another nice kickoff return today. Mixon is an outstanding back, but Chris seems to be likely to usurp Perine as the primary backup within the next year. (At least this is my hope)

Very doubtful, they need a great blocker as a 3rd down back, especially with how bad their line is. Evans will get a chance to stay on the roster next year though with his newfound KR skills.
January 31st, 2022 at 9:33 AM ^
Good post. And much more in line with reality. Evans will need to make the roster mainly for his KO and PR abilities.

David Long Jr !!!!!!!!!

You are forgetting Jordan Kovacs, defensive analyst for the Bengals.

Sooo happy for Chris Evans and extremely proud of his impact on & off the field. No quit in that kid.

I see this as a great Super Bowl..... Either Chris Evans gets a ring, or Matt Stafford..... I'm cool with either one...
And watching PatChoke Mahomes cough it up big time was so sweet...... After all the Aaron Rodgers choking memes...... Now there needs to be one with Pat-choke Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers have more in common than State Farm..... bwahahahaha (I have too many friends that are Cheif's fans and they're quickly becoming as obnoxious as Stleeler fans, so i enjoy to seeing them lose)

Chris Evans has to be the first amho's delivery driver to ever make the super bowl - right??
P.S. they have great chicken lemon rice soup
