Wisconsin Fans Reacting/Commenting on Brad Davison Suspension

Submitted by UMFanatic96 on January 30th, 2020 at 7:07 AM

I figured everyone could use some Thursday morning light reading and laughs. As we know, Brad Davison has been suspended 1 game and their 2nd leading scorer, Kobe King, has left the team.

Their fans haven't been taking this very well and are downright comical in their opinions. Here are some of my favorites and there's a link at the bottom if you wanted to check out all of them.

As sports fans, we love to irrationally defend our own guys...

"While not condoning Davison’s behavior, it seems rare, at least to me, for a flagrant 1 to result in a suspension."

"Consistency...I mean, fine… I get it. Definitely need to protect player safety. But at least have some consistency in these decisions, B1G, when it comes to suspected "repeat offenders." Correct me if I’m wrong, but Adam Woodbury eye-gouged away without suspension."

"I still contend Davison hooked the inside of the thigh trying to get around the screen. But what’s done is done now."

"I’ve seen way more flagrant crap not even called flagrant, much less suspended."

"Frankly, I don’t think he was trying to hit the screener in the junk. It looked to me like he was using the guy’s leg as a pivot point to get around the screen faster."

"At least be factually correct. He didn’t hit the Iowa player in the junk – he hooked his leg."

"But but but...he was just hooking the leg to get around the screen faster!"

I've honestly never seen a player stick their arm in an opponent's groin are as a means of competitive advantage. It's only ever to injure.

That link also shows some comments where Wisconsin fans claim Davison doesn't have a reputation of dirty plays

There is one camera angle where it’s a lot more obvious what he did. Kid is trying to hurt people and the next time he does it he should be done for the season.

Davison is definitely a player that if John Chaney was coaching against him, would undoubtedly "send in the goons" to go up against Davison and his bush league crap.

This is a vocal minority.  Having lived in WI for 30+ years and spending time on some lesser known WI sports forums, most of their fans are sick of this kid.  They have been labeling him a poor man's Grayson Allen.

Many were disappointed that the conference had to suspend him and that UW didnt do it first.

I'd be tempted to give Davison the choice: take a one-game suspension, or get a swift kick in the nuts from one of the dong-punched players.

Your choice, Sophie.

Wisconsin players have gotten away with boxing out and putting their feet where the shooter will land for way too long. Such a dirty play and can cause serious injuries. I hope this sheds some light on the dirtiness that is pervasive in their program. Dispicable.

To be fair, Adam Woodburry was 100% a dirty player who should have been suspended. But also fuck Brad Davidson and Wisconsin basketball.

Yep, I'm guessing Hawkeye fans who are out for blood regarding Davison are the same ones who twisted themselves up and down swearing that Woodbury was just a poor, misunderstood goofy-as-fuck 7-footer who was definitely not a dirty SOB attempting to blind everyone on the opposite roster.

I hope those last few posters get their legs hooked soon.

what in the fuck is hooking a leg? I don’t remember that being a defensive technique when I played. Love the homer herd mentality of jumping onto that made up term\idea.

Yeah, there were some sane voices pointing out that he's a cheap player and should be called out for it, but there's a certain "Grayson Allen is just misunderstood" vibe with Davison.
