Which Games to Watch Tonight?

Submitted by lostwages on August 29th, 2019 at 11:50 AM

Wondering which games you guys/galls are watching, and which ones you may think have implications on M's road to glory?

I may watch Fickle just because of his recent correspondence with Harbaugh (hope Fickle takes a dive).

Seeing Clemson go down in week 1 would be nice; but the chances of that seem slight.

Happy 2-days until football! Go Blue!

Holy War for sure. That will probably be one of the better games of the entire weekend. BYU hasn't won since like 2009 but every game in that series has been close recently.

Obviously will check out UCLA game since that will be on primetime. Don't waste your time with Clemson/GT.

EDIT: Minnesota also has a tough FCS game at 9. South Dakota State lost in the FCS semi-finals last year to NDSU.

EDIT #2: Before anyone gets too amped up for Clemson/GT, you should probably double check that you are getting ACC Network. Comcast isn't carrying it at all nationally and Spectrum isn't carrying it this week for "out of market" zones.

I hope UCLA puts a BIG BRUIN BASHING on the BEARCATS and that a UCLA defense man "accidentally" runs over that corrupt lying POS Fickle and knocks him out cold. :)

Definitely will be watching the UCLA Cincy game. I doubt Clemson GT will be close at all, but could be interesting to see how Clemson looks. BYU Utah is late, but could end up being the most interesting game of the night. Just excited to have games to watch. Don't care if any of them are actually good games.

UCLA-Cincinnati might be interesting. Has UCLA turned a corner under Chip Kelly? If they have another bad year, you have to wonder if the game has passed him by.

The other one, for those of us who are taking the day off tomorrow and will be up late, is Utah-BYU. Utah is being talked about as the favorite in the Pac-12 South and a dark horse in the playoff race, but BYU usually fields pretty good teams and its a rivalry game.

Don't care about Texas State-Texas A&M, and Ga Tech is in for a rude awakening in Death Valley tonight. First year head coach teaching a brand new scheme that is a complete 180 to what his current personnel have known, going up against the defending national champions on the road and against maybe the best player in football right now. That game will be over by halftime, if not sooner. The only thing Tech has going for it is there is essentially no film on them, so it'll be a little bit of guesswork on Clemson's part when they go out on defense.

The Clemson game is a conference game involving the number 1 team in the country so I will watch that until there is no reason to watch it anymore.

UCLA-Cincy for the 7pm slot (With eyes on Albany-CMU. Im an EMU fan and CMU looked bad last year. Beat their FCS team 17-5 in 2018. They finally have a legit QB in Dormandy, going to be interesting how they look in year 1 of McElwain)

3 late games I would like to keep an eye on. Obviously the Holy War is the big one, but SDSU-Minny is at 9 and Kent State-ASU is at 10. Don't think Kent State wins, but I think they keep it closer than the 24 point spread. As a MACtion man, I am a big believer in KSU QB Woody Barrett.

M's road to glory is in their own hands. Win the game Saturday. Then move on and win the next game.

Tonight is all about the Beavers. It don't rain on the Beavers......The Beavers Reign !!

To answer your question in the first statement of the OP - No. I am not wondering what everyone is watching.

I will be watching all that are on tv, though.

EDIT: I am just so glad ? is back. Last weekend was fine and both games were entertaining, but now it’s time for the main feast to begin. I am also off tomorrow, so I’ll be staying awake late for all of the games. I am very excited. I really enjoy the Thursday night football experience (Friday, too).

If you're a truly deranged college football junky like I am and you're looking for a sleeper pick in case other games get out of hand, keep your eye on FIU vs Tulane. FIU has been quietly ascending under Butch Davis and Tulane is shifting away from Willie Fritz's shotgun triple option offense. Both of these programs could head in either direction over the next few seasons, should be a competitive game.

High School games in Michigan this weekend are being played mostly tonight.

My alma mater, GR West Catholic, is @ Berrien Springs this evening, so as long as the weather doesn't get stormy I'll be there.
