What I want to see this Saturday...

I want a win, badly...as we all do...

Close second?

I want the Michigan fanbase to show up in droves to the FOX set. Let the world know how we feel about the most unethical, shitbag, slime ball human in football infesting our beloved campus. The man is disgusting, and should not be involved with this great game in any fashion. Not coaching. Not broadcasting. Not as an analyst. Nothing. Period.

Give em hell.

The whole Urban scandal thing crescendoed then decrescendoed and its merit in conversation now sits at ‘meh.’

He’s a PR specialist. He knew his reputation was badly wounded and he also knew the remedy for that was to play the role of knowledgeable charmer on national television, so long as the Smiths can’t come up in conversation. And guys like him don’t sit on the sideline with that kind of distraction in reach.

For Michigan fans who can’t accept this reality, my advice is: (1) Know how to pick your battles. There are better hills to die on than this. Also, (2) take solace that even though his rep is rebounding a bit, it’s also permanently tarnished and can’t rebound all the way.

Find your way to peace and move on.

Great post.

Hate is no way to go through life, young man.

Urban will rebuild his image (and lets be real here--particularly in the age of Trump), and outside this message board, nobody cares anymore.

Urban will be back in the Good Ol Boyz club and will win another national championship before we even sniff the playoff.

Lol I think the point has been hammered home, but there is no “close second” to beating OSU. I don’t even care if Urban announces his next job on the set on live TV... just win baby!!!

You could tell from the psu game that Fields doesn’t like to get hit....I mean really doesn’t like it.  I’d venture to guess he’s a bit soft and could be why he was never gonna beat out Fromm.

So I’d like to see him get hit A LOT on Saturday.  Whether it’s a sack or a knock down, I want to see Michigan defenders in his face.  I want to see him picking field turf out of his helmet.  I want to see him uncomfortable.

Its hard to be efficient when you’re uncomfortable

Fields' left hand has been causing him pretty bad pain for several weeks.  It's not his throwing hand, but it is the arm that he's been holding the ball with on a couple of his recent fumbles.  So if any part of your evaluation about him not liking to get hit rests on the fact that he fumbles when popped, I think that's a faulty premise; he didn't fumble much earlier in the year, before his injury.

The most glaring weakness in his game right now is that despite having a very good offensive line and despite getting good protection most plays, he has taken way, way too many sacks.  He'll sit in the pocket for 4 seconds, and then instead of throwing the ball away, he'll try to buy another second or two, or take off on a failed run.  That seems inconsistent with the notion that he's afraid of getting hit.

If Michigan can get pressure without needing to blitz, they'll more likely than not win the game.  I don't see much hope of that, and it's not really the way DB designs his defense, anyway.  If the Wolverines are getting pressue by bringing a couple of extra guys, they may win some battles but lose the war-- a short completed pass into a vacated area to someone like Dobbins, Olave, Wilson, or to a lesser extent Hill, can wind up being a huge chunk play.  Still, I can't see any alternative to trying it.  Just-- be careful what you wish for!

The most interesting subplot for me on Saturday is whether Day calls the game like he did for the first 10 weeks of the year, or like he did last week.  The playcalling against PSU bore virtually no resemblence to prior games; they ran right up the gut on first down so much more than they had been doing, against the best run defense in the country.  If that was because of the weather, then I'd look to see a repeat in Ann Arbor, since the weather will be at least as bad next weekend.

100 agree.  Hate seeing people find ways to compartmentalize Urban Meyer.  He essentially facilitated the spousal abuse of his coach for several years, covered it up and had the audacity to play the victim.  He’ll be back as a coach somewhere if not this off-season then within  the next few.

I’d rather he just go rot away somewhere in private
