I wasnt a fan of a lot of the play calling on O . We ran the ball well in spite of it . It occurred to me maybe it was so there wasnt much on film for Washington to study .

If we coach against Washington like we did today , I am afraid there will be a different outcome .

Did Michigan catch another punt in the game after the Bell injury?

Kolesar seemed all too content to just let the ball hit the turf.

Remember the heartburn People’s-Jones gave us early in his career back there trying to catch punts? I have no problem with Bell as the PR there. Sucks he got hurt but I don’t think it’s indicative of some coaching ineptitude we need to hammer on.

We have a lot of talent of offense but I counted 2 or 3 non garbage time reads al game. The times where we stretched the defense laterally generally worked except the All toss but they were all called plays. I just don't see how we are going to win big games on the road if our QB isn't a threat to pull. If we're going to run more than ever this year yet run into stakes boxes I just don't see that being the best use of our talent.

A big upgrade overall. Mike Mac Donald's defense will improve week on week. Jim looks like the Jim of old (2016). Good play calls on both sides of the ball.

A bigger test next weekend awaits.

Not sure where to lodge this complaint, but I only heard a few minutes of the broadcast. It happened during the supposed hit on a defenseless player. Was surprised how much the announcer was fighting to say this was clearly a bad hit. Was he like this the whole game?

The good:

The team was into it.

The defense looked organized and didn’t have to burn any timeouts.

The tackling was near perfect.

The bad:

Running between the tackles on almost every first down.

Fucking wildcat.

Poor use of timeouts at the end of the half.

No QB runs.

Team was fairly well organized on both sides of the ball and in special teams. Thought the coaches called plays to leverage the talent, rotated a lot of guys, and also let guys get into rhythm.

This type of game doesn't tell you a whole lot. It was pretty conservatively called by Michigan. That will need to change vs better opposition. And of course that better competition is already waiting in the wings.

I was hoping for some more passing, and especially not running it every 1st down.

But it was a good game overall.  Great running.  A few great passes.  Other than Bell's injury, it was very fun to watch, and great to see JJ and Edwards out there.

For an O'Neill game I thought it was ok.  I'll take it.

Ronnie stiff armed the guy and the official saw the arm extended.  Yeah, those usually aren't called, but I can only be so pissed about it, putting aside what it took away a highlight reel catch.

The roughing the punter bugged me.  It think the guy stepped on the punter's foot, and i've seen ticky-tack stuff like that not called, but don't punters get to come down?

I saw one of our DTs tackled with no holding, but it was the only non-call that stood out.

On the VG PI flag that was picked up, it was both  a good and bad pick up.  I assume they didn't see the jersey tugs; I can't believe they would pick up a flag if that was seen.  But other than that---if they were calling something else---there was nothing there and a good pick up.

Over all, if I can get this JO crew every week, I'll take it every time.
