Marco Coleman coached 1 year in high school... in 2017 (that would be 5 years ago).
He spent 2018 as an assistant DL coach for the Raiders.
He spent 2019-2021 as the DL coach at Georgia Tech.
So the dude has been an NFL coach, and he played LB/DE in the NFL for 13 years - including being Rookie of the Year and making a Pro Bowl.

Marco Coleman at MSU is a good recruiter and has the type of NFL connections that are appealing to kids. And for all of MSU's issues defensively their line has been really consistent for years now. So not a surprise they can sell that success to a kid.
That said, Tucker also does seem like a guy who has to take some flyers on kids even coming off a successful year like they had in 2021. So my guess is Jobe was sold the moon and the stars and that's appealing to a lot of kids compared to "you'll be one of the top recruits in our class" that you'd get from your Alabamas of the world.

But can he talk to the supervisor?

Tuck bummin’

Sparty fans are claiming he was processed but when you have 11 players in your class in mid December, it’s hard to believe they willingly let him go. Seems like Auburn just poached him
December 11th, 2022 at 11:30 PM ^
Just checked 247 again. Another Sparty decommit today. Down to 10 in the class. Not great, Bob.

Notre Dame has a "No visit" policy for commits. He has taken several here so this isn't a huge surprise. Hopefully he comes home.
December 11th, 2022 at 5:54 PM ^
Hard to believe a "no visit " policy can work w most highly regarded players
December 11th, 2022 at 6:06 PM ^
Didn't Brady Hoke try to do this also, how did that work out???
December 11th, 2022 at 6:19 PM ^
I think Hoke lost a TE to Oregon who visited after being committed. Didn't want to start a new thread (wouldn't do it right anyway) but Sam Webb has an interesting Michigan Insider out on YouTube. Title is: positive movement with portal, NIL, Jadyn Davis & more. In the video Sam says that JJ and Cade had a very "frosty" relationship.

You mean “that other guy.”

Pharaoh Brown. 2011

The best comp for what a QB captain should be is Alex Smith with Mahomes. He talked about their relationship more detail on the recent "New Heights" podcast with the Kelce brothers. They all said that starters who dont help out their backups in practice, etc, are usually guys worried about losing their jobs. And now Cade's bringing this experience with him in his next stop to Iowa.

For a minute there I thought 'NIL' was another hyphenated guy...

Sam says that JJ and Cade had a very "frosty" relationship.
Still makes you wonder after the Colorado State game when JJ posted the cartoon of the guy over the ledge hanging on to a branch with one hand and a bag entitled Ego with the other hand while a person at the top is holding out a hand and reaching down saying, 'Let Go' and the person hanging on replied, 'That's who I am.'

Yeah, at this point it feels more performative than anything else. Yes, the school could theoretically recruit over you if you start wandering but practically speaking they must just realize who they're competition is and redouble their efforts.
December 11th, 2022 at 6:13 PM ^
No visit policy after you commit is a good policy. It puts a little more emphasis on actually saying you’re “committed”. What’s curious is why anyone would commit but then feel it’s necessary to take more visits. That’s like being in a monogamous relationship while she still gets together with her ex for drinks. No official commitments should be allowed until senior year. They are basically meaningless before this anyway.
December 11th, 2022 at 8:26 PM ^
As Saban has supposedly said, a commitment to another team just tells him who the competition is.
December 12th, 2022 at 10:21 AM ^
Aren't all verbal commitments completely unofficial? You can't ban those.

DL depth chart is looking good for the future
December 11th, 2022 at 6:22 PM ^
UM is already in good shape with Brian Robinson. Both are generally 6'4" and 230 to 240 lbs. Not sure UM would go after Swain too and upset that apple cart.
December 11th, 2022 at 8:30 PM ^
Don’t see why they couldn’t take both. Swain has been in Ann Arbor for what feels a ton of times this year, dude has real interest and Im gonna take a wild guess that it’s reciprocated.
December 11th, 2022 at 9:13 PM ^
They will absolutely take both. Robinson is now being recruited to Colorado so something to watch.
December 11th, 2022 at 7:12 PM ^
All your decommits are belong to us. (Or something like that.)

How’d that turn out for DD 😂

this would be nice

Some Reddit commenters seem to think that he was not a 'good fit' for Michigan's scheme/defense, and this is what pushed him to ND in the first place. Anyone understand this 'fit' idea?
December 12th, 2022 at 10:30 AM ^
Reddit commentators are ass.
December 12th, 2022 at 10:43 AM ^
I think for a little while Davis-Swain's measurables kinda made it hard to see where he would eventually end up on defense. He was like 6'2" 240 when he committed to ND and not tall enough to be a DE, not fast enough to be a LB, and not big enough to be a DL. However, it seems since then he's put on 2", a good amount of weight, and had a stellar season
December 12th, 2022 at 1:18 PM ^
Ah, this is really helpful, thanks. And now it makes a bunch more sense. So it seems that the 'updated' speed/size combo means that Michigan would now put him on DL.
