Bang it up! Go Blue!!!!
November 28th, 2018 at 11:55 PM ^
Matthews is a baaaad man...
November 28th, 2018 at 11:59 PM ^
He's killed a man.
Allegedly.
November 28th, 2018 at 11:57 PM ^
Woooosh!
November 28th, 2018 at 11:58 PM ^
I’ve come here for the bang party. Let us bang!!
BANG BANG!!!!
November 28th, 2018 at 11:58 PM ^
This game brought me back from the dead. Amazing effort and just a fun team to watch.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:00 AM ^
Bang me! Iggy looks like a star and so does Matthews if he can hit his free throws. Teske got some nice dunks and showed some hustle.
November 29th, 2018 at 8:03 AM ^
Teske's D at the rim can not be overstated. It threw Carolina completely off their game.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:00 AM ^
Great win for the team!
love how much swagger this team has on defense.... Matthews getting into it with that UNC player was great.
Teske is a beast! Poole dialing long distance! Simpson taking it to the rack! Iggy with just a great soft shooting touch...
happy to be happy again
November 29th, 2018 at 12:00 AM ^
Amazing win, that was so fun to watch! Go Blue!
November 29th, 2018 at 12:01 AM ^
Excellent win, very entertaining game. I am a bit puzzled about the free throw struggles (no complaints here). But for a team with good shooting, what is the rationale for that? Lack of free throw practice? Mental?
November 29th, 2018 at 12:15 AM ^
Well, the 3 guys who seem to get to the line most frequently have all been poor ft shooters since they got here.
Matthews shoots with his arms extended way over his head, Simpson's form and mental struggles are pretty well known, and Teske struggles like many bigs.
It seems to me that Matthews is slowly improving, and will hopefully get to the mid-60%'s. His form isn't great, but he seems mentally tougher this year. Teske may get there with more attempts too. Alas, Simpson's ft ceiling is probably pretty low.
Iggy will be fine; he's just getting started. Poole and Livers are fine.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:31 AM ^
Matthews and Z should be shooting them like game shots, not still free throws. Move back, step into it, jump, etc. it might look weird but you have space and freedom to shoot that shot in a number of ways. Chuck is improving, but still. Dare to be different.
November 29th, 2018 at 4:43 AM ^
actually this may be JB's worst "shooting" team. but they are his best D team and they attack the rim rim on O. complete 180 from his best teams from the burke/stauskus years.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:06 AM ^
Roy Williams pretty upset during post-game.
Lots of credit to Coach B and the Michigan team, though.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:07 AM ^
Roy Williams on Sports Center just now: "I'm the most frustrated I have ever been."
Cool. We did that.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:09 AM ^
So many things to love about this team.
- Matthews' leadership, clutch scoring and toughness
- Simpson's calm, superb leadership and impossible driving layups
- Poole's swag and re-found stroke
- Teske's absurd rim protection, and strong presence in the middle
- Iggy's incredible athleticism and scoring ability
- Livers' new-found stroke and hustle; Brooks' timely scoring and effective minutes
- Coach Beilein and his staff. Incredible defensive ability, wonderful offensive system. I just love the two different teams we roll with - big and traditional pick and roll with Teske setting picks and finding open shooters, and small ball with Livers running the floor and spreading it out shooting threes.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:10 AM ^
Good shit, I was surprised unc wasn’t more athletic. Didn’t seem like their typical team.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:10 AM ^
The team lacks the star power of the big boys but they are sound on both sides of the ball. Exceptional control and team play. They don't take bad shots, careful with the basketball, great defensively and they play with controlled aggression. This team will make some noise.
It's nice to have upper class leadership. Most if not all of our guys are not the one and done sort but the silver lining is experience on the court.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:26 AM ^
Disagree, we have 2 stars.
November 29th, 2018 at 1:13 AM ^
But how does maizen feel about 2 stars?
November 29th, 2018 at 12:13 AM ^
Amazing we can be this good what with our high moral standards and refusing to pay athletes under the table. https://mgoblog.com/diaries/michigan-good-not-elite-and-won%27t-be-elit…
November 29th, 2018 at 12:17 AM ^
Here for the bang and the inevitable Eli Brooks appreciation thread! Big win!
November 29th, 2018 at 12:18 AM ^
Don't want them to be peaking too early, but clearly there is a lot of talent on this squad. UNC had to make a bunch of tough shots to stay in it in the first half.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:19 AM ^
Gotta love John Teske! David Robinson under the basket blocking shots and Phi Slamma Jamma throwing down alley oops on offense.
GO BLUE!!!
November 29th, 2018 at 12:21 AM ^
Caught the second half and loved it. Feel good about this win and potential for this team. Bang bang and go blue!
November 29th, 2018 at 12:23 AM ^
John Beilein is the fucking man.
November 29th, 2018 at 3:51 AM ^
Asshole, you don't get to shit all over our team all year and celebrate when we win.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:24 AM ^
Does anyone know if Luke Yaklich knows anything about stopping crossing patterns?
Asking for a friend.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:33 AM ^
That was beautiful.
Can't wait to see Izzo lose his shit when we beat that team's ass.
November 29th, 2018 at 1:15 AM ^
Hopefully its in East Lansing.
I heard cops don't care if basketball players beat anyone there.
November 29th, 2018 at 8:06 AM ^
We'll be safe down at Ohio State then.
November 29th, 2018 at 4:50 AM ^
winston does not want to play two or more games against simpson. that's for sure.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:36 AM ^
Crisler was ROCKING tonight. I almost didn't go. But then I did. Posbang me, please!
November 29th, 2018 at 12:40 AM ^
Beilein's had great wins before but I'll say it...they BULLIED NORTH. FREAKING. CAROLINA.
There were guys going to the rim repeatedly and Teske and Matthews and Livers repeatedly said NOPE. And this is not a mid-major these are NBA-level athletes from UNC. Beilein's been great but...when have we seen this?
UNC learned the hard way that pressure helps but Beilein teams will make the right play 8 times out of 10 and get an easy bucket. Not how you're going to beat us.
Another standout defensive performance from Z too. Coby White is extremely talented and got his but Z was in his grill all night. This looks like a complete team. Free throws and zone offense get tightened up and man...bring on Zion let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
November 29th, 2018 at 12:41 AM ^
Agreed. This has to be among the biggest non-conference wins of Beilein's time at Michigan. And hardly a fluke.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:40 AM ^
GO BLUE
November 29th, 2018 at 12:44 AM ^
As promised!
November 29th, 2018 at 12:52 AM ^
LOL That never gets old.
November 29th, 2018 at 12:51 AM ^
After a quick look at the schedule, I can see this team being 28-3 heading into the B1G Tournament. This team is headed for a #1 or #2 NCAA Tournament seeding. Of course, it's a long season, and there will be some tough, grinding Big Ten games (starting Saturday), but our schedule sets up well. We have two tough road games towards the end of the year (Maryland, MSU) but we have several days off before each game. Further, we don't visit Purdue or OSU this season.
As soon as Coach Beilein can get another guard and another big into the rotation, this team can be deep enough to endure, and win through, a tough, grinding Big Ten season.
November 29th, 2018 at 4:27 AM ^
I felt this confident not too long ago and it did not suit me well... I will withhold judgement for now.
BUT
Tonight was soooo fun! Great crowd, loud!
GO BLUE!!
November 29th, 2018 at 4:55 AM ^
i doubt it. it's tough to win on the road in the BIG, and there are no crap teams. hell, even rutgers won tonight on the road against Miami. that said, i like our chances at winning the BIG.
November 29th, 2018 at 1:01 AM ^
The idea of the football/basketball school label comes from the fact that it's increasingly rare for schools to be good at both. Most programs seem to focus all of their attention/money in one program. The fact of the matter is, we don't bow to that paradigm. We have a legendary football program CURRENTLY in the top 10, who is one hump away from being national title contenders. Meanwhile, we have a consistently elite basketball program producing first round draft picks on a yearly basis, while winning Big Ten titles and making Final Fours frequently. Oh, and we're the best public school in America. We're not a football school. We're not a basketball school. We're Michigan. A category all by itself.

Like legitimately we are a basketball school.
I dont know any football school in the nation that has not won a title since 2003 whilst their basketball team has won 4 big ten titles and been to 2 National title games.
November 29th, 2018 at 8:13 AM ^
Over the last 50 years, we are a much better basketball school than we are a football school.
That's a fact.
We played for the National Championship seven frigging times.
That's a far better record than so-called "basketball schools" like Syracuse, Georgetown, Purdue, Arizona, etc.
Embrace it.
November 29th, 2018 at 1:54 AM ^
Hail effin' yeah! I wore a lot of Maize and Blue this week because that's how I handle losing. I'm gonna wear a lot of Maize and Blue this week because that'show I handle winning.
GO BLUE!
November 29th, 2018 at 8:15 AM ^
Sounds like you wear a lot of maize and blue.

Michigan is an EVERYTHING school.
Leaders and Best at all of it.
