Definitely a lot of overreacting going on. I figured they would lose this against a good team in the first road game. First road game will always be tough. I will say I like how we battled and didn't let them pull too far away.
Z looks sloppy in the first half still, Franz looks like a freshman, Brooks needs to be a guy who can just pull once in a while if the offense is stagnant, hopefully Juwan will get Teske going up stronger. A couple times could have been and-1s turned into blocked shot-->runout for Lville
Defense was great. Loved the blitzes we were throwing at them. As far as offense its just ridiculous how bad they are...You have a good drive throwing deep to Nico then you don't do that once the rest of the game? I know they can do better than that garbage...
Shea is really bad. Why not throw in Mccaffrey next week if he is recovered and see what he does against a below-average opponent? I'd also say that mental mistakes really killed us again. Shea's interception was inexplicable and the two consecutive fumbles. Plus the missed field goal but that was on special teams...

The main issue has been inexplicable mental mistakes. Not knowing the play after we get a huge gain, fumbling on the first drive, throwing into 3 defenders instead of trying to run or taking a sack, putting in a linebacker to run the ball, etc. Just playing a clean game makes us so much better. Even against Wisconsin if we didn't collapse mentally on the first drive it may have been a different game. If we cut those out against Iowa then I think we would win the game. Against Rutgers it was the first time I saw us limiting these mistakes. The one turnover was not a bad turnover it was just an under throw and good defensive play. The main error I saw was the muffed fair catch which was unacceptable. Hopefully its even cleaner against Iowa and we win.

People will say it's just his first year, but missing the tourney is not okay at this point in the program's history with a roster like this.

Keeping this core together gives us the best shot at winning. The college coaching game involves strategy and skill. Yaklich has proven himself a skilled defensive coach. Howard has not proven any ability as a college-level coach.

I think Harbust should be fired as much as the next fan but Iowa and MSU are winnable games. 8-4 is definitely possible and would be my prediction.
