We all pulling for LSU now?

Submitted by 1blueeye on December 29th, 2019 at 1:45 AM

So Kum bay yah now that the wicked witch from Columbus is out, I can’t see them pulling for Clemson. Or are they jealous of Joe Burrow? I know I’ll be pulling for LSU. I’m not sure anybody outside of Clemson will be rooting for them. Not out of hatred necessarily ( cough cough ..Buckeye fan..) but Ed Orgeron winning a national title would give every program with a quirky coach some hope (Harbaugh). Stadium will be 70% LSU fans for title game.

I don’t like either team. Don’t care who wins. Kinda want Clemson to win just because I keep telling everyone LSU isn’t some unbeatable team like people think.

I’m pulling for LSU and it’s not even close.  A post game interview with Coach O is comedy gold. I’ll take that all day over Dabo praising the Lord and using his fake homespun persona while handing out Osterine

My wife was playing with the dog when Orgeron's post game interview started. When he started talking my wife's head snapped toward the screen and she says "Oh my god. Does he always sound like that?" So I'm looking forward to more post game interviews with him. Also, yeah, the fake piety coming out of Swinney irritates the shit out of me.

Well LSU DOES look unbeatable, so I would be quite interested in seeing how Clemson could pull that off. Mad respect if they do. On the other hand, LSU would be a nice change of pace from the usual Clemson/Bama champions, plus I doubt LSU can repeat this without burrows next year.

I’m just gonna enjoy the game and be happy that OSU got bounced.

Don't care.  OSU's "generational team" just lost and "the best player in America" - Chase Young, was a no show in all the season's biggest games - totally overrated.

I'll enjoy the game and watching LSU's amazing offense and Clemson's ability to stay in games even when being out played.

Tonight was glorious both because OSU lost and the way in which they choked it away.

Ohio state was the 3rd rated team in the "to win it all" odds.

Generational? They weren't even expected to get to the title game.

That said their overall season resume this year was one of the more impressive ones with every regular season game a win by double digits

Makes me wonder if maybe they would have been better off having a more difficult schedule so that Fields would have some experience being in a close game. He choked under the pressure even if Olave went the wrong way. Well, at least one of them choked under the pressure. Same consideration for their red zone failures.

I think that final play was just a rare case where neither of them really messed up, at least, if I understood what happened correctly.  My understanding is that Olave saw Fields in a bit of trouble (which he was in) and instead of continuing his route, went the other way in an attempt to make his way back toward the QB (something you are supposed to do when the QB starts to scramble).  However, Fields was able to get himself some room and, expecting Olave to continue is route threw it to where Olave was supposed to be, only right when he threw it, Olave cut off his route which made for a very easy pick.  What Olave did wasn't necessarily wrong, but he for sure didn't anticipate Fields being able to recover as quickly as he did from pressure.

OSU losing on a pick in the endzone when they had at least, a pretty good chance of scoring the go ahead TD was absolutely perfect.  You could feel the wind being taken out of Ohio all the way up here.

Normally I'd root for LSU, but Ohio fans will glom onto Joe Burrow as their surrogate champion, so I want Clemson to win to remind them who beat them and to knock their buddy off the top.

Basically, whatever outcome makes Ohio fans saddest, that's what I want.  And that's that.  Go Blue!

I doubt you have to worry about OSU fans feeling victorious via joe burrow. If anything, a Clemson victory will have OSU feeling like they got robbed by the refs. Who really cares about OSU though, they just got punked by Clemson.  I’m gonna look forward to a good football game and just be happy knowing OSU isn’t in it.

OSU views Burrow as a surrogate and would basically all but claim the title if LSU wins. If Clemson wins, then they'll take solace in losing only to the undefeated national champions, at the last second. Honestly at this point, OSU lost and they failed to win a national championship with arguably their best team ever. Doesn't matter anymore.

Enjoy the game and root for whomever you want, whether it be based off style of play or school colors.

Me personally, I like Orgeron, and Joe Burrow seems like a good dude. I liked his shout-out to SE Ohio (an impoverished region basically in Appalachia) during his Heisman speech. I don't like Dabo particularly, and Clemson's been there more recently. Geaux Tigers bc why not?

i'd like to see the wealth spread around a little bit... and it would be great to see Burrows win the Heisman AND the National Championship...

Buckeye fans will be thrilled with that outcome i am sure; they tossed Burrows out like trash - gloming onto him makes zero sense

Geaux Tigers!

Given the heartbreaking tragedy that occurred before the LSU game I hope they win it all...There’s things far more important in life than football and we all got a reminder of that before kickoff.  God bless you all and your families...Geaux Tigers!  And forever Go Blue!

I don't care and won't be watching that game.

I care a lot about Michigan's games, a bit about Big 10 (root for Big 10 to win in bowls), and approximately nothing about other games.

How are you a college football fan who has no interest in watching the freaking national championship game and one that looks like it could be great?

Definitely pulling for LSU. I like Orgeron way more than Dabo. And I'd rather have...somewhat recent blood over the new Alabama.

Because he is not some immature fool who lives vicariously through a bunch of kids he does not know???

Edit: LSU. Take down fake-man Swinney. Nobody should get to be in a 4-team CFP playing the schedule they played-go peruse their damn schedule. At least 4 B1G teams would have been undefeated and in the CFP if they were switched out for Clemson-including Michigan...and Clemson would not have been undefeated playing in the B1G East.

I am a huge cfb fan, I go over every box scor of every game multiple times as I bet cfb for a living along with other sports and I won't watch title game or likely bet it either same goes with super bowl etc.

Have no interest watching play by play of game I'm not a fan of team. Will check score on phone few times during game and Will read about it after.

Clemson all the way.  Got to love Dabo Swinney.  He can talk about the *favor of God* and not sound like a prick like Dantonio, because he is also generous in his praise of the opponent.  Dabo is probably the last of the great southern Jesus coaches. A guy like Dabo could never be hired at Michigan. . .I mean, RichRod was too hillbilly for Michigan, for crying out loud.  Imagine how angry Michigan Men would be if a Jesus coach got hired!  Most people probably think that's a good thing . . .that kind of bias is welcome here.

If Swinney beats LSU, he surpasses Meyer and Saban as the Greatest. . .3 nattys out of 4?  Meyer and Saban couldn't do that.  And more than likely one more next year. . .

Well, I went to grad school at Tulane, so I feel a regional affinity for LSU. I was there the very last time the Green Wave beat the Tigers.

Geaux Tigers!!! Sorry I spend my honeymoon in Nawlins and I bought some LSU gear before being chased out by a hurricane. Still would love to make it to Baton Rouge for a game.

CFB is totally broken the way it’s currently set up. A cartel of only about 4-6 teams have any legitimate shot at winning the NC in any given year right now, and the specific teams within that cartel are very static.

I want more casual CFB fans to understand this clearly & to demand immediate change, as it’s likely the best way to see actual reforms in the system. To that end, I want to see Clemson to win it all again this year. Even though LSU is in that 4-6 team cartel I referenced earlier, the casual CFB fan might not know that, whereas they all know Clemson is definitely in the cartel.

LV Sports Bettor

Not really. The new cartel just started and they are more or less one of the bigger reasons for it.

This is a different time than I ever recall as the elite are miles ahead of the rest. Almost no games any of them play are ever close and worst part is there are no signs of any of them slipping out of this group either

Geaux Tigers! My kids went to LSU and my daughter married a Louisiana dude.  Crazy how a decade of quarterback BPONE changed so quickly.  Plus, Clemson cheats.

We need LSU to win to set the example to our own coaches about the benefits of modernizing your offense.  If the dinosaur LSU offense can do it, it can be done.

It looks like our coaches are indeed on that path, but we don't want any backsliding when things get difficult.

LSU does all the things that I hate about SEC schools . . . pays players under the table, does not make them do actual academics, isolates them in a bubble away from the actual students, is just a holding bin for 3 years for the NFL.

And yet, I could never hate LSU for some reason.

Maybe it's their innate quirkiness . . . from Les to Coach O.  Maybe it's their tailgating and night games. Maybe it's just because they look better by comparison to soulless Death Star Alabama / Saban.  Maybe it's just because I'm not tired of them yet.

Not 100% sure, but I'll be rooting for LSU in the National Championship.

Also: We absolutely need to schedule a home and home with LSU.
