Updated W/L Prediction Thread
Always good to get a win, this reminded me of the Wisconsin game in 2016, a few missed kicks a way from a comfortable win. However, being realistic, no way we beat Penn State in two weeks. Good news is, Notre Dame and maybe Penn State won’t be must wins. Penn State has to play at OSU, at Iowa, and at MSU. OSU still has to go to Wisconsin, and currently are in a tight one with MSU. I have us 8-3(PSU and Notre Dame losses) going into the final week with a Winner take all game against OSU. This team doesn’t need to make the playoff just beat Ohio State.

9 and 2 with a trip to Indy? Are we cancelling a game I’m unaware of? I vote for the PSU white out because right now that looks like another “turn to another station for the second half” game.
October 6th, 2019 at 7:27 AM ^
9-2, with a forfeit?
October 6th, 2019 at 8:29 AM ^
8 wins is the absolute ceiling for this team, unless a miracle occurs and they fix the offense to some degree. ND is going to be a loss. MSU is kind of a toss up IMO. PSU and OSU are ugly losses. So, this means we'll need to beat all of Illinois, Indiana, and Maryland - all road games. Again, given where we are with the offense, not likely we will all 3. So, 7 wins is pretty likely right now. Maybe time to start making reservations for the First Responder Bowl.
October 6th, 2019 at 10:35 AM ^
There are 12 games in a regular season.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:24 PM ^
7-5 at best. Watching PSU and OSU and I can't see not getting embarrassed by one if not both.
October 5th, 2019 at 9:18 PM ^
I agree OSU looks so talented right now, they will roll through the Big ten and go to the playoff. We probably lose to PSU. I think we can beat MSU pretty easily though and ND to me will be tough but were at home so tht gives us a pretty good chance. So what is that? 9-3 again and no trip to Indy
October 5th, 2019 at 9:44 PM ^
There's a chance we kick 2 field goals against MSU and that's the extent of our scoring.
October 5th, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
Yea their defense looks dominant right now, we will get destroyed
October 5th, 2019 at 8:25 PM ^
A part of me thinks this team is destined for a 2017 type of season. But another part of me can't help but have hope for something more, the only reason being the talent we have on offense. Just fucking put it together and the sky is the limit.
It feels like the pieces of the puzzle are there, but they're scattered around the room with a drunk chimpanzee tasked with putting it together.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:37 PM ^
The offense is so disjointed and unimaginative that I fail to see how they're going to outscore PSU, ND, MSU or OSU. I really fail to see 8 wins at this point, 7-5 is the baseline for me.
It looks like the coaches don't have a game plan to attack the opponents weakness. Feels like they want to do what they want to do, impose their will. Clearly the QB position and the o-line are lacking any consistency to do so.
October 5th, 2019 at 10:35 PM ^
I hate mentioning this, or making this comparison, but the more I watch this team the more I’m reminded of the Weiss teams at ND. Remember when they had NFL talent all over the field on offense yet still managed to suck? Michael Floyd, Golden Tate, Rudolph, Kamara, Jimmy Clausen, Robert Hughes, and a few other top 100 guys.
Yeah, that’s us this year. Collins, DPJ, and Black are all top 3 round NFL talents, Charbonnet has potential to be one eventually, Eubanks/McKeon one of them or both may get drafted in the late rounds, Ruiz, Bredeson, and Jansen will get drafted, and possibly Onwenu...yet this is the product we get to watch against good teams? Less than 275 total yards? It’s honestly baffling watching this amount of ineptitude every Saturday.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:26 PM ^
I'm curious as to why people think penn state is unbeatable? Harbaugh sucks on the road but penn state hasn't played anyone the entire year..
When they lose to iowa next week it will be interesting to see the hot takes next week
October 5th, 2019 at 8:34 PM ^
You just said it, Harbaugh sucks on the road and if they lose to Iowa that’s worse for us because it’ll be a night game instead of a Fox noon kickoff.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:47 PM ^
I’m curious as to why people are predicting an MSU win. I don’t see them scoring much at all against us, and with the game in Ann Arbor, I think we get the win in an ugly game like today’s.
October 5th, 2019 at 9:05 PM ^
Because it’s clear that there are lots of trolls on here. I would say about a third of the doom and gloom crowd are fans of other teams and are just having fun. We won the game today against a quality opponent — a game most people on here said we would lose — and a majority of the posts on here are pissed off. Strange.
October 6th, 2019 at 7:12 AM ^
Get real. That offense man.
October 5th, 2019 at 9:06 PM ^
It'll be like 3-3 until the fourth quarter, and our defense will finally wear out.
October 5th, 2019 at 9:11 PM ^
People are pissed off because of the disjointed awful offense on the field. It’s obviously not getting better.
Many fans considered this team to have a lot of talent. A lot of talent that’s probably leaving after this year. We haven’t done anything with it.
Defense has been improving and played their asses off today. Gattis should be fucking embarrassed.
October 5th, 2019 at 9:18 PM ^
Who is leaving? You are overrating our talent. After losing our defense last year, I amazed we are this good. Check yourself if you are pissed after today.
October 5th, 2019 at 10:05 PM ^
I’m curious what talent is leaving voluntarily after this season? Some guys have talent, but they aren’t putting together hype or much film that will warrant early round draft picks. Transferring? With little eligibility left seems like a big risk for some of these guys.
Im just getting tired of the “talent is all going to leave voluntarily” argument. I’m not in the locker room, but the players seemed pretty happy to win a hard fought game today.
October 5th, 2019 at 10:49 PM ^
DPJ, Collins, and Black will all leave, for sure. You can argue that they haven't shown enough to be picked high in the draft, and I wouldn't argue with you. But all three of those guys will declare out of spite, if nothing else, given how criminally underused they are.
October 5th, 2019 at 10:53 PM ^
These are the three I’m thinking. They haven’t put much on tape but I don’t see them staying.
October 5th, 2019 at 11:07 PM ^
Could there be any argument that staying another year with a potentially better QB and the second year of an offensive system may lead to more opportunities, higher draft pick, and more money?
I like those guys you mention, I just would say “for sure gone” yet.
October 5th, 2019 at 11:32 PM ^
Absolutely there’s an argument to stay and increase your draft stock...
with that being said what evidence can Harbaugh show why it’d be worth them coming back? His offenses terrible under utilize the receivers.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:27 PM ^
The team grinds to a 9-4 record. The problem is that it will be just that, a grind. And it will feel like 7-6 or something like that.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:29 PM ^
It's hard to have faith that we'll win all the games we should (Ill, Mary, & Ind) and at least one of the ones we could (MSU, ND, PSU, & OSU). Patterson plays well when he has time. Unfortunately pass pro is not our forte. The best d-lines we play won't give him time. Can the defense hold serve long enough or can we score enough to beat those teams? I doubt it. MSU is the swing game. Gotta find a way to block Willekes & Williams and put Bache in conflict with the RPO. At least in that one the defense is likely to keep MSU under 17 pts. Can we score 17 against them?
October 5th, 2019 at 8:48 PM ^
If only Michigan ran RPO
October 5th, 2019 at 8:30 PM ^
8 and 4. Lose to Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Penn State. Beat Michigan State, Illinois, Maryland, and Indiana.
I could see Michigan beating Notre Dame. Highly unlikely they beat Penn State on the road, and I'll never believe they can beat Ohio State until it actually happens.
Also don't care about the bowl game. Doesn't matter to me.
October 5th, 2019 at 11:12 PM ^
looks about right to me
October 6th, 2019 at 2:16 AM ^
100% agree with this take but I don’t think we can hang with Notre dame. They are a hell of a team and played an incredibly talented georgia team close.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:31 PM ^
No change in mine 9-3-Lose to PSU & OSU
Beat ND, MSU and everyone else.
Look-can we all agree on two things?
1. THAT offense is putrid and worse than we ever imagined.
2. But THAT defense is way, way better than we ever thought it could be.
Gattis might have learned nothing this year but Don Brown sure as hell went to school.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:48 PM ^
This defense got punked by Wisconsin. And I'd put ND's offense closer to Wisconsin's level than Iowa's.
Not sure how we win that game...
October 5th, 2019 at 9:13 PM ^
Defense was fantastic today but it's hard to get Wisconsin out of my head. They came off a bye week and were undisciplined and uninspired.
October 5th, 2019 at 10:22 PM ^
Defense let the offense’s bed shitting in Madison affect them. They didn’t do that today. Easier said than done but they need to keep it that way the rest of the season.
October 5th, 2019 at 10:24 PM ^

October 5th, 2019 at 8:35 PM ^
OSU looking mortal tonight and the MSU game will probably look exactly like today's game did.
Still no idea what our team is. We could win the rest of our games or lose 5 more.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:45 PM ^
You still want to fire Brown?
October 5th, 2019 at 9:21 PM ^
What idiot would want to fire Brown? Is that a serious thing?
October 5th, 2019 at 10:15 PM ^
Mr. Alice in Wonderland and a lot of other folks on here.
October 5th, 2019 at 9:09 PM ^
Mortal is an understatement. Michigan states defense is legit (again). Fields and dobbins are running wild. They are a scary team.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:45 PM ^
7-5. Maaaaybe 8-4.
Wins against Maryland, Illinois and Indiana. But after today I don’t know how you can possibly think we beat PSU, ND or even stay within striking distance of OSU. If nothing on offense changes I think Michigan gets its clock cleaned by all of them. MSU is a tossup because of their garbage offense, but I’m betting Harbaugh gets out-coached by Dantonio in that game and loses an ugly 17-10 kind of game.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:46 PM ^
My updated prediction is 7-5. Losses to PSU, ND, MSU, and OSU. But I thought we were gonna be 6-6, with a loss today, so there's that.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:49 PM ^
Win against Illinois and Maryland. If Indiana has a healthy Penix, which everybody wants one of those, that game is going to be a struggle.
Unless some miracle happens.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:51 PM ^
I see losses to psu osu n.d. And msu is looking like a lose with our offense. Indiana scares me being at I.u. 6-6 is not out of the question unless our offense figures something out. The defense can’t hold up forever.
October 5th, 2019 at 8:52 PM ^
7-6(plus a bowl loss). Just no offense
October 5th, 2019 at 8:54 PM ^
7-5. OSU and @PSU seem like almost guaranteed losses. MSU and ND seem like toss-ups maybe leaning towards L's. Indiana will be tough too. Thinking we lose 2/3 to MSU, ND, and Indiana.
October 5th, 2019 at 9:01 PM ^
Although we haven't looked great while breaking in the new offense, I think people are underestimating how good Wisconsin is this year. They seem to actually be legit.
October 5th, 2019 at 9:03 PM ^
Unless something dramatic changes with our offense (I can't see it), then we lose to Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame, and Michigan State.
7-5
October 5th, 2019 at 9:04 PM ^
If Shea is QB:
ND - L
PSU - L
MSU - L
OSU - L
Bowl - L
October 5th, 2019 at 9:11 PM ^
7 or 8 wins unless the offense gets its shit together.
