Good to see David Pollack still acting like a child.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:42 PM ^
I missed it. What was he bitching about this time?
November 16th, 2021 at 7:46 PM ^
Same as last week. He was crying about head to head. At one point all he could muster out of his mouth was “head to head” while the other grown ups were talking about the selections.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:53 PM ^
I understand his argument. Head-to-head should mean something (I'm not going to complain about it in this instance, however), but he is literally wasting his time bitching about it because it will all iron itself out in the next two weeks. I know that sometimes your ranking a couple of weeks prior to the end of the season has some meaning as to where you land in the final ranking at the end of the regular season, but this is not the case here. With OSU playing MSU and UM in the next two games, it makes no difference if M is 6 and MSU is 7 or vice versa.
November 16th, 2021 at 8:00 PM ^
"It makes no difference" other than Sparty is gnawing his fist right now in frustration and anger. Which makes all the difference in the world.
November 16th, 2021 at 8:10 PM ^
Absolutely. My morning coffee tastes so fucking good
November 16th, 2021 at 9:05 PM ^
Yeah head to head should mean something and it does. It just doesn’t mean everything. Nor should it mean everything.
November 16th, 2021 at 8:36 PM ^
He is an idiot. Michigan lost to MSU by less than a TD on the road. MSU lost by more than a TD to Purdue. Michigan beat the crap out of #15 Wisconsin on the road. There is no victory like that for MSU on the road. If head to head is all that matters why is he not arguing about Alabama being #2? Also, Oregon beat OSU at the shoe. Come on.
November 16th, 2021 at 9:13 PM ^
Oregon is ranked ahead of OSU and Bama lost to a 3-loss team so obviously TAMU is not ahead of 1-loss Bama. Not sure I follow your comment at the end.
November 17th, 2021 at 8:23 AM ^
Oregon head to head means ahead of OSU because that is the only loss for OSU. Alabama #2 because A&M is ranked and Purdue is not ranked and MSU should not have lost to them.
November 17th, 2021 at 8:54 AM ^
Maybe I am still missing something but your comment reads as an attack on Pollack's logic. You're saying if he believes UM should be ahead of MSU, then that means he should believe that A&M should be ahead of Alabama because of his head-to-head argument.
I assume that is just a deliberate misunderstanding of Pollack's argument, as A&M has 3 losses, so there is obviously nothing inconsistent from Pollack there.
As for Oregon, they are ranked ahead of OSU, just as Pollack would want based on head to head, so I still don't understand why that's being brought up in a comment that is meant to counter Pollack.
November 16th, 2021 at 9:01 PM ^
"head to head", so what do sword fights have to do rankings....
November 16th, 2021 at 7:49 PM ^
"same # of losses" + "Head-to-head!" is about as deep as his analysis can go
Pollack is just another blathering talking haircut when not shilling for the SEC. Don't think he's ever said anything insightful in 15 years
November 16th, 2021 at 7:55 PM ^
Michigan could go on an Alabama-like championship run over the course of many years and Pollack would still make every effort to shit all over the Wolverines.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:57 PM ^
Hard to blame him - it’s a really hard school to get into
November 16th, 2021 at 9:12 PM ^
Is that championship run in the crystal ball?
November 16th, 2021 at 8:07 PM ^
I used to like that guy but he’s obnoxious and flippant. Even on game day when they have the local chef cook and bring some food up to the set the dude makes faces like he’s disgusted and chews on the lettuce garnishing the platters, like all of you that like these types of food are gross pigs. I wish Corso would slip into senility and slap his punchable face with a pork chop once.
November 17th, 2021 at 3:04 AM ^
I don't see what he adds to that show, other than to "balance" out that Des and Herb are Big Ten guys with a blatant SEC guy.
OK, fine. Then get an SEC guy with some actual insight and talent.
November 16th, 2021 at 8:26 PM ^
Someone should tell Pollack that Michigan vs MSU was competitive, MSU vs Purdue wasn't.
November 16th, 2021 at 8:27 PM ^
It’s all for show, it wouldn’t matter if they were flip flopped and we were 7. Once sparty gets it handed to them this weekend then we move to 6 anyway provided we win.
November 17th, 2021 at 12:02 AM ^
Pollack is a flat out douche who hates Michigan any has zero credibility.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:23 PM ^
I'll say preemptively that there would be zero good reasons for an undefeated Cincy to be ranked ahead of a 1-loss Big Ten Champion Michigan
November 16th, 2021 at 7:29 PM ^
If we can take care of business, we jump Cinci and it’s not even close
November 16th, 2021 at 7:32 PM ^
This is all academic anyway, because all that matters is that game against that team that we can never beat.
Beat them and things will be fine. Don't beat them and nobody cares what we were ranked a few weeks before.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:57 PM ^
No argument here
November 16th, 2021 at 7:34 PM ^
A theoretical Michigan team that just beat OSU and probably a rising Wisconsin team and is 12-1 is getting in over Cinci 100/100 times
November 16th, 2021 at 7:52 PM ^
Knocking both major Ohio schools out of the playoffs in consecutive weeks would be pretty awesome
November 16th, 2021 at 8:55 PM ^
It would be kind of Michigan luck to finally beat OSU only to lose to a Wisconsin team we'd already beaten in the B10 Championship game.
November 16th, 2021 at 8:12 PM ^
Cincy is a fraud. They have 1 good win, that is it. Seriously, look at their schedule, it is crap teams. Even next year when they are in the Big 12, they will not be undefeated, with or without Texas & Oklahoma.
November 16th, 2021 at 8:16 PM ^
November 16th, 2021 at 8:36 PM ^
Georgia is 1-0 against other playoff top 25 teams. They beat #21 Arkansas. There aren’t many teams who have a bunch of wins against the top 25 if any. I think Alabama is 2-1. UM is 1-1. OSU is 0-1. WMU has more top 25 wins than OSU right now.
November 16th, 2021 at 8:58 PM ^
The SEC is very, very secretly not good this year. Like A&M very nearly lost to the second worst PAC-12 team.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:24 PM ^
All right just need to set the table for a huge The Game. Need OSU and Michigan to win this weekend. I realize PSU could beat MSU but don’t want there to be any doubt. Need to take MSU out of the picture as soon as possible.
Beat Maryland.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:25 PM ^
David Pollack biggest bitch on ESPN.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:29 PM ^
He's definitely the guy that pees sitting down.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:48 PM ^
Why do people still watch ESPN talking heads?
November 16th, 2021 at 7:48 PM ^
Someone would like a word
November 16th, 2021 at 8:14 PM ^
Thankfully they got rid of this one....
November 16th, 2021 at 7:25 PM ^
I truly don't get Bama being ranked #2 and Cincy being ranked #5. I guess it will all play out in the next 2-3 weeks, but still
Go Blue!
November 16th, 2021 at 8:15 PM ^
Seriously, who would Cincy beat that is in the top 4 on a neutral field???
This must be Luke's mom on MGoBlog.
November 16th, 2021 at 8:53 PM ^
Notre Dame would probably be in the top 4 if they played another mediocre ACC team instead of Cincinnati. Not that they should.
But I get and agree with your point. I actually think the Cincinnati team last year was better and more deserving of a playoff shot.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:27 PM ^
Win the games.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:28 PM ^
Turtles on deck
November 16th, 2021 at 7:28 PM ^
Penn State > Maryland. I don't care about head to head. They lost to a lower rated team. End of discussion
November 16th, 2021 at 8:24 PM ^
+1
These are rankings, not standings.
November 16th, 2021 at 9:00 PM ^
And we beat Wisconsin, who is better than the Purdue team that beat them. We've played a significantly tougher schedule.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:28 PM ^
I personally would be fine with Michigan winning out and still going to the Rose Bowl. We have to get the OSU burden off our back. I'm a bit doubtful about Michigan's chances in the playoff. Imhe.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:31 PM ^
I think there's a possibility of winning out, not going to Indy but still getting into the playoff.
November 16th, 2021 at 7:34 PM ^
I'd rather make the playoff.
But if you told me that we'd beat OSU, but in exchange for that win we'd get jobbed out of the playoff by a dumb committee decision or something...
I take that 100 times out of 100 this year. No brainer. Where do I sign.
