This version is great. It was posted here a few years ago. Someone filmed it with a mobile phone, so the picture is meh, but the audio is great.

EDIT: That shit gives me chills every time. It’s such a great version of the song.

A little personal story, this version was sung by a student group at my orientation. At this point I'd spent several years just applying and had finally made the cut.Hearing this opened the flood gates then and left this walk-on in tears in Angell hall.

I've always felt it's the purest rendition. No need for large band or crowds, just a group of friends and a piano. This is what makes Michigan such an iconic place for students and I look forward to the musical theatre class singing it almost every year. Hopefully this turns into a yearly tradition, but to this group thank you and forever go blue.

I teared up a bit watching this.  Today is the 10 year anniversary of my graduation (the Obama commencement).  Besides my loving and supportive parents, the University of Michigan is the greatest blessing God has given me.

I agree with those who think this is the superior version.  I remember when the video in the comments came out and there was a stupid mini controversy because it wasn’t traditional (typical Michigan, never happy unless we’re miserable).

But that cell phone video from the party is the best version I have ever heard or will ever hear.  There’s something pure about it.  Just a bunch of college kids, solo cups in hand, sharing love and joy with each other.  If anyone ever was to ask me what the Michigan experience is like, I’d show them that video.  It makes my heart hurt

The controversy wasn’t that it wasn’t traditional, it’s that the school keeps a really tight lid on the students performances. They want it to be super polished and perfect so anything a casting director can find is showing the best version of that person. A cellphone video at a party without properly warming up isn’t that. It turned out fine because people loved it but that was the reason the theater school got upset

I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears, but the people in that video are SUPREMELY talented.  Like, better than anything you will do in your life, talented.  And 90% of them will never earn enough to make a living.  Anyone who doesn't support the arts, either through viewership or contributions, is stifling the soul of our country.  So, buy a CD, download a song or album, go see a musical (when it is again appropriate to do so), or donate to a cause that supports the arts.  Life without this gift is not worth living.
