Worth every fucking penny.

Edited forum topic to appropriately reflect press release.

Could it actually go to court? If so, what are the downsides to that? The B1G bylaw in question refers to exhibiting "respect" to officials and opponents. In what what did Harbaugh disrespect anyone? He said he thought the calls were bad--I say take it to court and let a (neutral) judge decide whether they were.

Michigan and its fans need to start standing up for themselves. I'm tired of peoplebeing more concerned about appearing "classy" to the public than about showing strength in the face of blatant insults. Do we want to be classy or do we want to win football games? The two programs on top of the football world have perhaps the least classy fanbases in college football. Let's just face it: karma doesn't exist and the squeaky wheel gets the graese. Call a spade a spade and eventually your voice will be heard.

If you want attention then this is the answer. Put your feelers out on other conferences, even if you are not really looking. Tell them you don't feel your getting a fair shake. Then watch the Big Ten come running to kiss our ass. They need us more than we need them and there is no rivalry I care about that is more important than our players and coaches getting a fair shot on the field.

New rule: any fine on a coach for criticizing refs can be challenged. If after review by a neutral party, the coach's criticisms are factually correct, the refs pay the fine. If not, the fine is multiplied by 10.

Refuse to pay, ask how saying you were disappointed in refs compromises sportsmanship, competition, civility towards all, or respect. Since that was the bylaw that was allegedly violated.

There's no answer to it without them either saying all reffing ever is immune from criticism or essentially setting up a standard where they only hold those they want to accountable.

This is just face-saving gesturing by Delaney.  He's compensating for a small ...

$10K is nothing compared to value of the discussion that's been kicked up by this.  I think the general weight of consensus is tipping in Harbaugh's favor.  It won't change the outcome, but more and more people will view the results of that game as suspect.

We do not want to go to the Big 12 ... that conference is a freakin' dumpster fire.  Stay in the Big 10 and win ballgames.

Pick off some high academic standard, like minded schools and start a conference. Schools like Northwestern, Vandy, Duke, Notre Dame, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Virginia... Travel would be a bitch though.

isn't this America where freedom of speech is allowed and standing up to what you believe to be an injustice, is considered a virtue?

Ooooooooooooh, our coach calls out poor oofficiating and the record indicates that the league's failure to vet its own officials for bias leads to some financial handslap to make the league look like its protecting incompetence. You go right ahead. The fan base will put up the money for the fine and make your fucking office accountable for the outcome of this contest.

This was totally exoected. As if, it means anything.

The Big10 should reprimand OSU for not having adequate security in place to protect our players from the fans rushing the field after the game. That's something that actually matters.

I hope he pays it all in pennies. The B1G should be disappointed in their choice of referees for one of the biggest games in the past decade for this conference.

one about the one-sided officiating of this game, but never-ever assigning this crew to do another Michigan game. It's just incredible how incompetence is protected to save face.

Fuck the Big Ten, fuck Jim Delaney, fuck it all. They all need to come up with some answers for their shittiy choices of officials. They stand to lose a lot more than $10k for that BS. Assholes.

They're fining M for JH speaking out about the officiating? Seriously?!?

For the Big Ten to be fining a member school for complaining about obvious incompetence on the part of officials is truly chickenshit.

If Michigan wanted to leave (as they did in 1908), I'd sure understand why. They won't, of course. There's the money, and there's the CIC. And because, well, there's the money.

Harbaugh should call out the refs again. Screw the fines. On another note, Michigan helped build this conference, and I'm against leaving the B1G. Delany needs to improve officiating. This has been problem long before last Saturday.

Odd timing, I just released this statement as well, announcing that I just fined the Big 10 ONE MILLION DOLLARS for its distubring lack of competence in assigning officials or dealing with the reaction to its incompetence:

I have determined that the Big Ten's lack of postgame comments regarding the integrity of officiating were  violation of Big Ten Conference Agreement 10.01 which states in part "The Big Ten Conference expects all contests involving a member institution to be conducted without compromise to any fundamental element of sportsmanship. Such fundamental elements include integrity of competition, civility toward all, and respect, particularly toward opponents and officials."  The Conference is considered a member as well, and there is an expectation that they set the example for other conferences in the area of integrity of competition. I consider this matter concluded and will have no further comment.

I expect the check to be in the mail, Delaney.

The egg is still on Delany's face for refusing to address some obvious deficiencies, and I will say this - good on any coach that calls the conference out on these problem every chance they get. They can fine schools, but that they refuse to comment or look inward is so much more telling than a fine.

Seems to me "back in the day" important intraconference games were reffed by out of conference officials. Anybody else remember this? So a game like this could be reffed by Big 12 officials for example. Also, I am publicly reprimanding a former boss who gave me a negative performance evaluation in the past. And suing for damages in court.
