We lost against Wisconsin and had good recruiting news. Beat Rutgers and get bad news.
Just debating merits of hiring/firing coaches based on recruiting in a pandemic.

Definitely agree. I was always waiting until the Indiana and Wisconsin games to pass judgement. Both of those teams were going to be able to give him more pre-snap looks based on returning talent and scheme. Figured MSU would stay basic with limited practice time and coaching changes. I put the MSU game more on the o line than Milton.

Minnesota game was a bit of a tell in that 1) Minny regressed to norm, but we didn't know at the time and 2) Milton ran the basic offense really well, with a lot of short throws and some pretty decent intermediate, middle of field throws, but 3) Minny had no pressure or creativity to their defensive scheme.

At MSU, he started regressing in that his lack of consistency with intermediate to deep throws, yet still made a handful of really, truly beautiful NFL throws. Yet, the last two games he just seems to have lost his trust in his own eyes and those poor throws to short WRs and deep passes being way off just seems to have pushed him into a self doubt.

Milton regressed to norm because, for mental reasons, he cannot show consistent growth in-game. He should be conscious of the type of throw he has to make, but he just slings everything like Wildthing. Sometimes it is a thing of beauty to write ballads about, but most of the time he strikes out. I hope they can get him to trust fundamentals and practice the basics over and over until they get to be muscle memory, but I don't think it will happen this year.

You gotta remember that Milton was working against our secondary in practice. Rocky Lombardi looked like a Heisman candidate against them. Can't imagine how good Milton looked.

I also don't think any of us would have guessed that Cade would do better than Milton after that Minnesota game. We now know that they suck. We didn't know that before. And we didn't know that Milton would lose confidence so easy. But we knew he had a crazy work ethic and desire to learn. Just hasn't worked out for a variety of reasons. But I don't think it was as cut and dry as it looks now

I think Milton's biggest problem is his inability to see the entire field and then to deliver the appropriate ball to the appropriate spot. Some of those things are apparent in practice, some are not depending on the drills they are doing, especially if the defense in practice is sub-par. He presumably has the arm strength to get away with things versus Michigan's secondary, but so against a better secondary.

It's weird with the pandemic but guys visit schools even when they're committed and nothing much comes of it.  And Bama has 3 WRs ranked higher than him already in their class; obviously you'll talk a top-100 guy if he's available but that's a crowded class already.

If he leaves good luck to him, but this recruiting cycle is so disjointed I try not to get too high or too low either way.

I can tell you from the outside people can’t stand Dudek. Recruits think he is annoying & parents think he is immature. Dudek spends half his day on social media taking shots at opponents, getting into twitter spats & pushing agendas like he is a political strategist.
A regional recruiting analyst said the players nicknamed Dudek, “Matty Bitch Tits.”

Since we are a basketball school, it's worth mentioning in this thread that a credible basketball insider at 247 now believes we may not be done in 2021. And I assume that if we take another, the only way we do so is if he's a high 4 or 5 star.

It's Bama, the Harvard of College football education.

If you get the invite and acceptance letter, you at least need to visit.  Just hoping he doesn't fall in love with their engineering program.
