Twitter Smoke: Chris Partridge Leaving UM?
B1G Tim (@Coachfleck11) on Twitter is a high school football coach and Michigan observer. I don't follow him closely, but I don't believe he's a rumor monger. Anyway, according to him, Coach Partridge is no longer making at-home recruiting visits.
In response to his assertion, another Twitter user commented that the coach was just in North Carolina.
Does anyone know about this either way? Is there some smoke building? With all the talk about the talent gap with OSU, this would be a big blow.

Where there's smoke, there's bullshit.

I’ve said this all year. If Partridge doesn’t get some sort of promotion, he’s gone. Would be a huge blow.

didnt they already kick up his salary after he turned down saban? hes been coordinating ST and coaching safeties, leading recruiting efforts - theyre doing what they can to keep him

Meh. Wake me when someone with a pulse reports it.

The only thing I will say on this is I havent seen CP in any recruiting pics lately and have seen Brown in a bunch. This time of the year hes usually in a bunch of photos and mentions

Moms, do your work.

This could turn out to be something, but this is literally the least amount of smoke I’ve ever seen. It’s 1 tweet and 1-2 responses. How on earth is that smoke? This guy is a non-insider, and we haven’t heard any other rumblings like other years yet. Also, as much as it may seem like a “big loss”, it may not be. He’s clearly a good coach, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t upgrades available.

It's time for Partridge to get a promotion in his career...he's waited long enough, and he rebuffed Alabama. Was expecting this. Schiano needs him and I can see him going to Rutgers as DC.
December 15th, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
He better get a huge salary. He'll be a position coach again in 3 years if he ends up at Rutgers.
December 13th, 2019 at 12:29 AM ^
he wants to be a DC. Don’t blame him. Good coach. This was be sucky.

Like your English be sucky.

He was instrumental in Peppers and Gary, but he's burned a lot of bridges outside of Paramus Catholic and his shine as a NJ recruiter has worn off significantly (hence the focus lately in recruiting the south).
Schiano has already hired a co-DC who specializes in South Jersey recruiting. If he wanted a North Jersey recruiter he would go after Anthony Campanile IMO (although he already retained his brother).
If Hafley gets the BC job, I can definitely see Hafley and Schiano using Partridge against UM in NJ recruiting. Probably won't result in top NJ kids going to Rutgers or BC, but it may lead to them going to PSU or ND. So he's probably better moving on to a southern school where he can be co-DC / DC and focus on recruiting there.

Partridge really underperformed as safeties coach. The Metellus meltdown was all on Chris as he never subbed the guy out all season - now we know why cause he knew he was leaving AA. He only played Dax Hill when Hawkins got injured. Dax was only getting time as nickel corner under Zordich. The special teams missed point on the gimmick formation was Partridge great idea too....Michigan safties have been below avg both years under partridge - kinnel and metellus should have never been starters.

Literally no one on either Michigan or Rutgers insider boards are mentioning this.
So take OP with a massive grain of salt.

What can be really dumb in situations like this is to start gnawing at your gut about the possibility. It's the creeping anxiety these things can engender that is to be avoided.

OSU scored 56 against Rutgers & 56 against Mich this year ... hmmm.

I guess where there is Twitter smoke, there is Twitter fire,

Maybe Urban Meyer wants to take his place

How did this thread devolve into a Don Brown debate?
December 13th, 2019 at 3:36 PM ^
Lol I love still seeing the Don Brown apologist on here lol. That's awesome he keeps Maryland to 150 yards of offense, come back to me when he even remotely slows down a good offense.
December 13th, 2019 at 4:57 PM ^
Not sold on Don Brown, but I damn sure don't want to see a 1st time DC promoted because he can recruit his home state of NJ.
December 13th, 2019 at 4:55 PM ^
Meh, plenty of talented recruiters out there.
Seems like UM found a couple who had little to NO NCAA experience in Wheatley & Partridge under JH. Funny how UM helps personable guys become awesome recruiters.
We will find the next man up, Roy Manning comes to mind.
December 13th, 2019 at 8:48 PM ^
Why would he stay at Michigan?
December 14th, 2019 at 5:45 AM ^
fck it; let em both leave; maybe there are more Harbaughs and Glasgows in the family trees' to walk the sidelines and take up valuable roster spots.
DB sucks against any offense worth a damn. DC's like that are a dime a dozen.
